When Rafe gets stuck in human form and his dog is kidnapped, he goes to Pani for help. All he knows about her is she's powerful and that she might be able to help. He doesn't expect to meet a beautiful woman that stirs both his human and cat side. Pani never expected to fall in love with a human either, but her strange feelings aren't even close to the worst problem they're about to endure together.
The best part of this story was the unique powers that were incorporated into the story. I had never heard of a Vila before, but I was able to learn a lot about Russian fairies thanks to the way Pani and her powers were introduced throughout the story. There were additional interesting creatures that made the story really interesting to read.
The problem I had with this book was the characterizations. Aside from their powers, Rafe and Pani didn't have anything interesting about them. They were both one-dimensional with serious Mary Sue issues. That made Rafe being stuck in human form and the rest of the plot feel stretched and difficult to enjoy. I also had a lot of trouble believing in their relationship for the same exact reason.

The book had a good plot I just thought things went a little too fast for my liking. It was an interesting take on how fairy's are portrayed. It wasn't that much engaging for me to really focus on the story itself.

This is a fantastic beginning to the Shifter Wars series. Rafe is a shifter panther who needs Pani's help. She is a Vila, a fairy with the powers to enthrall men and beasts. A skin walker has trapped Rafe's cat making it impossible for him to shift. As they work together against a pack of coyote shifters and the skin walker they get the help of a powerful Thunderbird. There is a terrible confrontation coming in the next book and Rafe and Pani are heading out west to warn his pride of lions. Paranormal fans will enjoy this new series. Claire Davon has written several other books I'll look for.

what an interesting supernatural romance. Found it easy to follow and hope there will be more to continue this storyline

I'm sorry, but it just didn't work for me. It's not badly written and the characters were fine, but it just had so much potential! It just disappointed me a lot. It ended up being another insta-love paranormal novella, which is fine if you like that, but didn't have enough plot for my taste.

This is the first book in a series .......... a shifter book with a difference .
Pani is a Vila (a European Fairy with unusual powers , able to bind men with her voice) - driven from her last home Pani now works in a pet shop in Wyoming .
Shifter Rafe Anderson arrives at the shop with two problems - someone has taken his dog and someone has managed to suppress his Lion .
Together the pair must work together to find his pet and release his Lion all the while falling in love .
A war is coming .
Who are the Skin-walker's targets and why ??
I found the premise of the book promising and will probably read further books in the series .
However I felt the book was a little short and the relationships between the different shifter groups and the Vila could have been developed more .
