This was just fantastic for me. Excellent characters, great storyline, full of passionate and swoon worthy moments and a whole lot of emotion. I am loving this series! 5 stars for Kiss My Boots.

Tate and Quinn were really great characters. Tate was just so sweet and determined and I loved how he just put it all out there. Quinn was so scared of being hurt again but I really liked that she was willing to try and didn’t fight her feelings. I loved their chemistry! There was tension between the two in the beginning but I loved watching their walls come down and that tension explode into heat. I adored how they were open and honest about what they wanted with no games. That doesn't mean there wasn’t a bit of drama mixed in because there was, which made the build to them reconnecting all the more sweet. I loved learning their histories and how there were flash backs providing more depth. There were just so many wonderful details tying it all together. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I loved all the entertaining moments as well. In the middle of the emotion were all these fun scenes that made me smile. I loved that lightness that was mixed in. The play on words between Tate and Quinn had me laughing. When Leighton and Quinn get together these girls are wild and it just made me smile big time. Loved the updates on Maverick and Leighton from the first book, Lost Rider, as well, it was wonderful how that was worked into the story.

I LOVED Quinn's brothers Clay and Maverick and the family they have made for themselves. This was so much more than a beautiful romance between Tate and Quinn, it was such an deeply emotional journey for Quinn as she lets go of past hurt so she can really move on and have a future. I got choked up on several occasions!

Great writing and attention to details. Really good development and pace. Awesome build. I was just excited to read it. I loved the cowboy speak as well, that was fun. I loved the dual POVs and while I really liked Quinn, I loved Tate! He was just oh so sweet and sexy and I couldn't wait to get back to him. I thought they both had great voices.

How a book can be swoon worthy and emotional all at once I have no idea but this totally was. A fantastic second chance romance. I loved it!

This story was soooo good, I really loved the way Harper Sloan took someone that everyone thought the worst of and made him a champion. I cannot go into details without giving a way to much so I'll just say that I was truly happy that no one, and I mean no one can say that what Tate Montgomery had done nine years earlier was the wrong thing to do because it wasn't, he did what had to be done in spite of his own feelings.

Quinn and Tate's story wasn't a heartbreaking story like Maverick and Leighton's story was, but it still had some moments that had me tearing up so you may want to have some tissues handy. This series follow's the Davis siblings and the eldest sibling, Clay, will be getting his HEA soon, and this is one that I am totally looking forward to because Clay is the man that gets everything done and is there no matter what for his brother and sister. I look forward to the quiet, stoic, and mysterious Clay finding someone that will balance him out, and maybe, just maybe make him a little less mysterious.

This is the second book in the Coming Home series. It can be read as a standalone, but the series is about three siblings.

This is Quinn’s book. She’s the baby of the Davis siblings. The only girl.

She doesn’t really date, she scratches her itch when needed. But, she doesn’t want to end up like her mama, a whore.

She’s only loved one man, besides her brothers. That man is Tate. Nine years ago he left and dropped all contact with her.

But now he’s back.

I did think that Quinn would put up more of a fight, or make Tate work harder to get her back.

We do get the full story on why he dropped all contact nine years ago.

I thought there would be more drama with Ella though. I wanted more drama!

This is a very good second chance novel.

I am really looking forward to Clay’s book.

4.5 How I love Quinn and Tate!!! Quinn is a woman who had her heartbroken by the one man she loved as a teenager. She thought they would have it all and then he left. He didn't come back and that shattered her heart. She's got a good life now, she's over him (she thinks) until....

Tate comes back to town with single minded goals. One of them being he wants the woman he hasn't stopped loving. He has huge obstacles in his way, he has to get through Quinn's brothers and Quinn herself. Finding out why he did what he did made me want to throat punch someone. UGH Wait till you find out!!

Loved seeing Quinn in a non-traditional job as a mechanic. She knew her way around vehicles and was one of the best. Loved the push and pull between these two and their chemistry was still there and hot as ever. Some of the things that Quinn says had me laughing.

Cannot wait for Clay's book!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher for an honest review. 

Oh.  My.  Gosh.  Y'all let me tell you about this book.  This is the second book I've read by Harper Sloan.  The first being about Quinn's brother Mavrick, it's called Lost Rider.  Anyway...Quinn.  The only girl in a house full of males.  Her mother skipped out shortly after she was born so she was basically raised by her brothers.  I just knew this story was going to be an emotional ride.  

Quinn has a tremendous amount of pent up emotion.  You could tell this in the first book.  It's definitely prevalent in her book.  A reader can't help but sympathize with her character.  She feels abandoned.  Almost everyone she's ever cared about abandoned her.  She's never had a mother to help her navigate the world and her father was an abusive tail hole.   

Let's talk about Tate shall we?  One might despise his character and there's a good reason to do so.  However, there's a better reason to like him. Here's a kicker - he's an OB/Gyn...taking over his grandfather's practice in a small town.  You know he's going to be looking at every female in town for their needs.  I just don't know if I could stand it.  LOL  Seriously who wants to think of their man seeing all that?  Quinn has a good outlook on this position though.  Hard not to agree with her. 

So these two are two halves of each others hearts.  Their relationship heals the other.  I think they definitely needed their drama in the middle to come out where they end in this particular story.  I hope you enjoy reading this book as much as I did.  You may want to have a few tissues with you as well.  Dang Harper and her words making my eyes leak!

I haven't enjoyed a Harper Sloan book this much in quite a while. I flew through Kiss My Boots with an open mind and heart and enjoyed every page of this sweet, sexy and sassy second-chance romance.

I absolutely adored Quinn- with her southern sass and sweet charm. She is a woman in a man's world and she owns it. She has almost everything she could want- a successful business, family, a best friend...the missing piece, someone to love. The man who swept her off her feet, Tate, flew the coup years ago and her heart hasn't recovered. But Tate is coming back to reclaim the future that he always wanted. The top thing on his list, Quinn.

I loved how he went after her with all he had. He revisited their history and learned all about the woman she was today. And the love he had for her didn't change, it grew. I was holding my breath for the showdown between Tate and Quinn's brothers because they are fiercely protective of their sister. And when I finally learned what had kept him away for years, a bit of anger surged forward.

I have to say that Tate and Quinn's journey was bittersweet. There was a lot of hurt, guilt and unresolved feelings for them both to work through. But forgiveness is the name of the game here. Tate and Quinn's connection was truly something special. Forged in friendship at a young age, it grew and transformed as they did. "Jesus Jones!" Kiss My Boots had me laughing and swooning all over the place. I can't wait to see what Harper Sloan has in store for the last Montgomery sibling, Clayton- something tells me it's going to be just as intense as that man is.

I love the second chance romance trope but, considering Lost Rider was also a second chance romance, I would've preferred a storyline that wasn't so similar to Maverick and Leighton's story. Even Leighton compares Quinn and Tate's relationship to that of her and Maverick's, so I was reminded several times of how similarly events in both books were unfolding. The advice Quinn gave to Leighton is being regurgitated back to her verbatim by her friend and I couldn't help but feel as though it were the same story with different characters.

There's so much discussion at the start of the story about how Quinn shouldn't fight the connection between her and Tate and how it's meant to be. Meanwhile, I'm internally screaming at my Kindle that she sure as heck better fight it since the man went radio silent on her for nearly ten years, not to mention, if she just gives in without resistance, where's the drama and the conflict? I'm the last person to require angst in a romance novel but I wanted more tension and more buildup. Sure enough, after an extremely short effort to resist Tate's attentions, Quinn pretty much fell into his arms. It felt too easy, with Quinn and Tate's future essentially being decided in conversations between Quinn and Leighton. I don't mind whirlwind romances or even insta-love, but when it comes to second chance romances, I expected deeper, more complex emotions. Instead, what I got was everyone analyzing the feelings Tate and Quinn had for each other so much that I didn't actually get to experience those feelings for myself.

The first half of the book, they were hardly even around each other. Aside from a few brief meetings where they discussed their past and possible future together, the narrative is mostly them discussing their relationship with other people. I just kept wondering why they both needed so much approval and advice from other people. Why couldn't they spend more than an hour together so they could sort out their own issues? I don't think the second half of the book brought much improvement. There were so many conversations between different groupings of people that the narrative didn't seem like it was going anywhere in particular. Overall, the story was repetitive, and there was too much "telling" and not enough "showing" for my taste.

4.5 Getting Back Your First Love Stars!!

I'm so in love with Quinn and Tate and their second chance love story. Harper Sloan has a way of writing a book that has you so invested in the characters we almost feel like we're in Pine Oak, Texas.

When Tate left Pine Oak almost ten years ago after a monumental first for both of them, he left without explanation and he broke Quinn's heart. Well things have changed and he's back and he's determined to get his girl back....

"I live in a world where Quinn Davis very much exists, erasing any possibility of any other perfect woman existing for me, ever....It's time to end this farce I'm stuck living and take back my life - and the woman who has always held my heart."

I knew right there that Quinn had no choice whether she wanted to have him back in her life or not....Tate was getting his girl back. Oh and the way he sets the stage...he's a sneaky one, but she's on to him and does a valiant job of tyring to resist. Notice I said "trying."

Once Quinn gets on the Tate train so to speak, she's full steam ahead and is ready to experience the love she's never thought she'd have back again....

"It doesn't matter that there is still so much unknown between us because of the years that have passed. All that matters is what I'm feeling."

When we find out why Tate left I was angry for both of them. I was literally slack-jawed with the circumstances that forced him to leave the only woman he'd ever love. Along the way to their finding their forever, her BFF Leigh is right along for the ride while she's planning her wedding to Maverick and then there's her oldest brother Clay that may be silent but when he has something to say, everyone listens.

As the story progresses, our H/h rekindle the love story they thought was lost to them when they were eighteen year olds experiencing their "firsts" with each other...

"Then, with another violent boom of thunder, his lips meet mine and I know without a single doubt in my mind that the boy giving me my first kiss ever will be the same one that give me my last."

Ultimately this second book in the Coming Home Series is everything I wanted it to be and so much more. I'm more in love with this couple than I was with Mav and Leigh and that's a pretty high bar... now I can't wait to read Clay's book!!!

Sloan returns to Texas with another delightful and sexy small town, cowboy romance, and Kiss My Boots makes for an ideal beach read. It’s entertaining while also being hot, fun, and a heartfelt second-chance romance.

Tatum (Tate) Montgomery spent summers with is beloved Grandparents in Pine Oak, Texas, and during this hot summer months he met and fell in love with Quinn Davis. When they graduated from high school, they decided to try a long distance relationship, but Tate left for college and Quinn never heard from him again. She was left heartbroken.

Who doesn’t love a good second chance romance? I know, I do. Hell, it’s one of my favorite tropes. The idea of two lovers reuniting and getting that second chance to make things right is why I love reading romance novels and let me just say, Harper Sloan knows how to write an emotional and sexy second chance love story.

Quinn Davis is not your quintessential stereotypical girl next door. For one, she is a mechanic which I so applaud Harper Sloan for showcasing a heroine in a male dominated profession. She is sassy, strong willed and independent as hell and so she prefers to live a quiet life. The reason for that is she once gave her heart to a man who ended up leaving and in return gave her a broken heart.

"I pray that he can see the desperation my love for him makes me feel. The need to get as close as two people physically can is almost unbearable. What I feel— this fire burning deep in my belly— only becomes more powerful the longer I deny what I crave.”

Tate Montgomery is that man who walked away from Quinn Davis nine years ago and now he is back to win the heart of Quinn. Ladies, let me just say this cowboy will have your panties melting as he shows Quinn that she is the only one in his heart.

Quinn and Tate’s journey of reconnecting and rebuilding their relationship was truly unforgettable. This couple had my heart as everything about them felt raw, vulnerable and natural. Trust me when I tell you, it is not hard to fall and root for this couple. Yes, Tate may have walked away from Quinn nine years ago but there was a valid reason and I loved that Harper Sloan allowed readers to see both sides of the story and allowed readers to see two hearts colliding as one finally was able to let go of the walls surrounding her heart.

"He left a handsome boy and came back a devilishly hot man. His body, having always been in shape, is aged to perfection. His abs are a little more defined, his pecs even larger, and his arms that would— I’m sure— feel like steel bands when they were wrapped around you.”

Kiss My Boots is the perfect summer read as this book had everything you could of asked for. It had amazing and lovable characters, heartfelt dialogue, and a romance that was palpable from the start. The writing was beautiful as Harper Sloan allowed readers to feel for her characters as two hearts surrendered to their love for each other. So if you are looking for a sweet and heartfelt second chance romance that was brimming with so much love, passion, and emotions then I highly recommend you to read Kiss My Boots.

After reading Lost Rider I was dying to read more! And Quinn's story was next!

Quinn is sassy, funny and so damn adorable! When she opens her mouth, expect something hilarious. And let me tell you: she is DAMN strong. I loved her.


She is the perfect sister for Mav and Clay: she is their absolutely opposite. The brothers are all brooding alphas and Quinn is their baby sister, which they treat as such. Their relationship is ADORABLE. Every time the siblings were interacting I felt all warm and fuzzy inside! I love how protective the Davies brothers are!


Tate is charming, sweet and balanced. He is such a good guy! He is my favorite character in this story, no doubt! The reasons why he left Quinn and just vanished for so long... gah! He is PERFECT.


Now I'm looking forward to Clay's book! I just know he'll be my favorite. . .

This story was so good. It had me smiling and feeling all kinds of giddy. The emotions not only between Tate and Quinn but between the Davis family had my heart singing with happiness. I am so in love with all these characters.

Quinn was such a sassy and hilarious character. I wish I was best friends with her. I love how she is completely independent yet never ashamed of needing emotional support from her family.

I can't even with Tate, Mave and Clay, y'all!! So this was my first Harper book ever and I can't believe I have been missing out on such goodness. GAWD! These cowboys have me by the heart FOR LIFE. When Tate called Quinn "darlin' I think I squealed like a little girl. It made me fawn over him so hard.

I think cowboys are officially my new kryptonite!!!!

Harper Sloan serves up another fantastic read in Kiss My Boots - a story about a tough woman, her first love, and their ups and downs to forever love.

I loooove cowboy stories and was hooked on this series from the first book, Lost Rider. Fans of Harper knows that she writes seriously sexy alpha men. This combined with cowboy boots and a Southern drawl makes my heart beat quicker. I was hooked on Quinn and Tate's story from the beginning. Quinn is tough yet feminine with attitude to spare. Tate has quite a time trying to win her heart back, as he should. I can honestly say, these two were more then meant to be together.

Kiss My Boots can be read as a standalone but would probably be better enjoyed after reading Lost Rider as many main characters are introduced during this book. I can not wait to see what Harper has planned for us with Clay's story!

Kiss My Boots by Harper Sloan is the second book in her Coming Home series and tells the story of Quinn Davis. We met her in the previous book, Lost Rider, but can be read as a standalone.

Quinn Davis gave up on love a long time ago. Her happily-ever-after walked out of her life and with it, any chance at love. So, she lives her life as she pleases. The badass girl who works on cars and loves her family. I loved Quinn. She was strong, determined and feisty. She avoided relationships like the plague, because she never wanted to open her heart again.

Tate Montgomery has lived the past nine years missing a part of his soul. After spending summers with his grandparents in Pine Oak Texas when he was younger, Quinn and he were inseparable. They were friends, to best friends to young love. They shared one amazing summer, making plans, and then everything fell apart. For those he loved, he walked away. But when he came back, he was determined to make it right. Tate was strong, caring, loving and selfless.

Though I enjoyed the previous book, I loved Kiss My Boots. I loved Tate and Quinn. They had chemistry, history and were so good together. Tate and Quinn lost so much time. Their journey was not easy. They both had past demons that were weighing them down. Could they find their way back to each other or was it too late for them?

This was a great read, with amazing characters and side characters that will make you laugh out loud. This was a sweet romance with emotional and heartwarming moments. I loved every moment of it. It will draw you in from the beginning. I am looking forward to the next book.

I loved this book so much! Harper has me completely amazed by the Coming Home series and even more so these characters. I can’t wait for Clay’s book! I am a true sucker for second chance love stories and this one is one of my favorites!

Quinn is such an amazing woman! She is a strong, sassy, and hard headed mechanic. Being the youngest in the family with two older brothers she had grown up standing up for herself and not relying too much on anyone. Meeting her in Lost Rider I knew I wanted her to have her own book and to get her own happy ever after.

Tate is about as swoons as you can get. He is a smooth talkin’ doctor who is ready to settle down in the town where his grandparent’s lived. He used to spend his summers there when he was younger and that’s how he met and first fell in love with Quinn. I loved how protective and how much of a fighter he was. So swoony!

Quinn and Tate’s relationship had me swooning from the get go. He is determined to get her back and will do everything in his power to make her believe in him again. Even after years of being in separate states, Tate knows Quinn like the back of his hand. He is everything Quinn needs and wants being protective enough but also knowing when to step back and let her take the lead.

Both of these books in the series are the perfect summer reads! Grab both and fall in love with the Davis’ family! I can’t wait to get my hands on Cowboy Up when it comes out later this year and fall in love with Clay too.

This is a book I struggled with how to review because while there were parts I absolutely loved, there were things that had me climbing the walls with frustration. I ended up deciding to go with the higher rating because the parts that I found frustrating fell into the personal preference category and I felt that it would be unfair to let that way too heavily.

The story is Kiss My Boots is a solid 4 star effort for a second chance romance. Quinn and Tate fell in love over the summers that he would stay with his grandparents through high and high school before he "vanished" at the end of the summer before college. 9 years later he's back in town and they have history to deal with.
I loved these two together. Their love story, both past and present was sweet, tender, and had me rooting for them. The reasons behind their separation made it easier for Quinn and her brothers to forgive Tate and let their relationship rebuild itself.
The secondary cast centers on Quinn's brothers, Maverick (Coming Home #1) and Clay and the family drama explained initially in book 1. Those issues continue to play out in Kiss My Boots, but even with some of the continuations, this works well as a stand alone.

Okay - now as much as I liked the story in Kiss My Boots, some of the execution had me extremely frustrated. The biggest issue for me was that even though this series is set in Texas, very little is done to establish the broader setting outside of the town of Pine Oak. I could live with that, but for the author's instance that the characters "speak" with an exaggerated accent. The accent issue is two fold: 1) the dropped g's and other unique pieces of language actually made it difficult to read some of the dialogue. 2) The over the top language choice made it seem almost as if the author was making fun of the types of people her characters represent.

I'd like to believe that the issues that I found frustrating were in place because the author felt they were important to the story and not everyone is going to have the same preferences or predilections I do while reading, so I can't penalize the book too much. Overall, I enjoyed the story and am looking forward to Clay's story.

Quinn Davis would rather be under the hood of a car than out on the horses with her brothers. She is firmly settled in Pine Oak, Texas living the quiet life she always dreamed of. She may not have everything she dreamed of, but dreams change over time.

Tate Montgomery only ever felt at home on his grandparents’ Texas farm, but hasn’t been back in years. Now he has returned to start over again, and he’s hoping to find some things in the small town the same as when he left.

Tate and Quinn had a young love that was kept fairly quiet. Everyone knew they were close, and they were friends, but no one else knew things were more than that. When he left town and cut off communication with Quinn, she was crushed. Now that he is back, old hurts come to the surface and the past must be faced if Tate wants another chance with the only woman he has ever loved.

These two have instant chemistry in the present -- their past has unresolved hurts. I loved the fire between them, even as Quinn’s pain is on the surface. She has a wild streak and uses it to her advantage where Tate is concerned.

This was a second chance romance with past hurts to overcome and present dreams to align. Quinn had a lot of trust issues to overcome, some caused by Tate himself, others by family drama. Tate had some explaining and proving to do to heal the hurts he had caused with his desertion.

I am looking forward to Clay’s book coming next, Cowboy Up. He has been a voice of reason for both Maverick and Quinn as they worked things out with their first loves, but little of his own story has been revealed. He is always such a fountain of relationship advice that I can’t help but wonder if he’s made his own share of mistakes too.

I picked up this second installment to the Coming Home series because the first one really drew me in. This second one didn't disappoint as I, also, thoroughly enjoyed it. The writing flows nicely and is easy to read. I find the story of Quinn and Tate engaging. I think the fact that Tate was basically forced out of Quinn's life by his own family created a turmoil that made for a super gut-wrenching story. With each chapter, both of them uncover more truths to secrets that have long kept them in strife and from each other. Quinn and Tate use Tate's homecoming as a jumping off point to help heal each other's souls. It's really a heart-warming tale, seeing two people who were destined for each other, come together and take their own futures and happiness into their own hands. I can't wait for Clay's story!

Harper Sloan writes amazing second chance romance books. I loved Lost Rider (Book #1 of the Coming Home series) and Kiss My Boots is an excellent follow up. Whilst you could read this as a stand-alone book it is enhanced by reading the first book before this one.

Ms Sloan fills her characters with so much personality that they feel like old friends. It didn’t take long for me to be drawn back into the town of Pine Oak and the lives of Quinn, Mav, Leigh and Clay. This is the book where we find out why Quinn refuses to let any man, other than her brothers, get close to her heart. We also find out why Tate broke his promises to her all those years ago.

Normally I like a second-chance story where the protagonist who left has a lot of making up to do and doesn’t get an easy ride. However as this was the basis of Lost Rider, the author made the correct call on heading down a very different pathway with this book. I liked that she also avoided a lot of the clichés that you can find in contemporary romance books.

Quinn has a lot of issues ON TOP of losing Tate when she was 18. This book is more about how she explores and finds resolution for those problems and how this deepens and strengthens her relationship with Tate.

Whilst this is still a passionate and emotion-filled book, most of those feelings are positive and hopeful, so the book didn’t leave me feeling ‘wrecked’ like some can. That isn’t to say I didn’t love the book because I did – I loved it from start to finish and that is mainly due to the wonderfully crafted characters and the strength of the relationships between them all. For me it's the kind of book you don't want to put down until you've read every single word of it.

And, oh boy, that epilogue … it was just such a perfect way to end this part of the story. All that’s left now is for Clay to find his HEA because if there was ever a man who deserves one it is him.
