I enjoyed the way that the two different eras were linked by one story, that of the Cottingley fairies. It's a fascinating tale of a bygone innocent age, when people seemed to want to believe that children really did see fairies.
By contrast, the modern day section seemed more mundane with wedding planning and monetary problems, made intriguing by the link to the past.
Having grown up near Cottingley, I found the book particularly interesting, and enjoyed reading a different view of this local tale.

I loved this. A really different read. Two stories interwoven with a magical feel. I knew a bit about this piece of history but so wonderful to read this as a family saga. I had to google and find out more. How did ordinary people believe these photographs. This was before photoshop but really everyone was looking for the goodness and kindness in life following the darkness of WW1. A riveting read with an enchanting story.

Olivia has to return Ireland where she grew up after inheriting her grandfather's old bookshop. It is the last thing that she needs at the moment as she is planning her wedding and her life is being taken over by wedding planners! The more time she spends in the bookshop though the more she realises how nice and simple life would be if she just stayed and ran it.

When she comes across an old manuscript written by Frances Griffiths she is fascinated, This is one of the cousins who faked the Cottingly Fairies and so the book goes backwards and forwards between the present day and 100 years ago and the life of Frances

I loved this magical story based on the true story of the cousins who managed to convince the world that the Cottingly Fairies were real. It worked really well with the two time frames and I really enjoyed both... ..definitely a book I would recommend
