I loved Harper’s dedication to the team and the fact that she really tries hard to pull her sisters into a circle developed just for them. Unfortunately she hits a wall named Remy Jinx Dupre. He is really trying to win for her team and her as well. Watching Harper trying to control everything and it all falling apart is the best thing that could happen to her. It teaches her to love more and to let others in.

Irresistible You is the first book in Kate Meader’s new (ice) hockey series. I loved her Hot in Chicago series so I was excited to read this one. The series focuses on three estranged half-sisters who jointly inherit a hockey team from their father. Irresistible You tells the story of the eldest sister, Hunter, who already worked for the team and who didn’t expect having to share the team with her two sisters. The hero is Remy, originally from New Orleans and freshly but unhappily traded. I liked the characters and how they grew, especially Hunter. I absolutely loved Remy’s Cajun French, and the food. He really makes a great hero. I also enjoyed reading about their interactions with their families, and I think I’d have liked to see more of the bonding between Hunter and her sisters. Hopefully, there will be more of that in the rest of the series.
I liked the romance as well but it felt a little underdeveloped.
The setting worked for me quite well. My hockey knowledge is negligible but that never interfered with my understanding of the story. In fact, for a book with a hockey player hero set during the hockey season, there was very little hockey in it.
There are also a few things that I felt should’ve been tied up before the end of the book (e.g. the playoff clause in her father’s will, Remy’s plans for his retirement), but maybe they’ll be dealt with the next book(s).
So I liked the book, but I didn’t love it. I felt it could have use some more flesh on its bones (maybe Remy could have fed is some of his amazing food?). I also heard the echo of Susan Elizabeth Phillip’s Chicago Stars series (another series that I love). Of course, a book about a Chicago sports team and its female owner(s) will always have some similarities with SEP’s books, but I felt the echoing might be a little too loud in this case.
For me this is a 3.5-star book.

'Irresistible You’ has an irresistible setup: a team down in the dumps, a bastard ex-owner, his three daughters who are estranged half-sisters, a near-hostile meeting between a new owner (who’s really been screwed over by her father) and an unwilling trade in hockey, with sparks and secret deals all around.

Kate Meader’s stylish, confident writing shows up so clearly here, and it’s easy to get swept along by the plot and her characters. It had me wanting to know how Remy Du Pre and Harper Chase would get from ‘enemies’ to lovers so to speak, and I loved the tension from the very beginning and the inevitable pull they felt towards each other in Remy’s stomping ground in the exotic (and some say magical) New Orleans.

The progression did lag in the middle for me as Remy and Harper dwelled too much on the potential consequences of carrying on as a couple. I didn’t exactly like Harper’s slowness and unwillingness to fight for Remy (who never gave up on her) just as the latter’s good humour and laid-back candidness won me over. Yet Harper does alright in the end and their happy-for-now is most likely just the start of what’s going to be a longer journey in a bigger story arc that I suspect, will involve the entire team as time goes on.

The uneven pacing aside, hockey isn’t my sport, so the terminology is lost on me, but Meader does make it more about the pairing than the actual sport and the management of it as Remy/Harper's relationship goes from grudging respect to something more. I loved how well-crafted both of them really are (here, the tiny details make the cake) as Meader does brilliant work enunciating their insecurities and their motivations while leaving the potential for a deadbeat team to reach the playoffs. With Harper’s sisters wait in the wings for their own HEAs, that’s a hook and a teaser I can’t say no to.

Where's the 6 star option?! I've been reading Kate Meader's books since her Chicago firefighter series. Her writing was what immediately had me hooked. That has not changed. This book was downright addictive! I couldn't put it down. I absolutely loved the chemistry between Remy and Harper. Their attraction flowed off the pages and had me rooting for them. From the brilliant plotline to the fun side characters this book has it all. I can't wait for the rest of the series! 6 stars!

Kate Meader sure can write a fantastic romance novel!!!

I've been a fan of Kate Meader for awhile and I always look forward to diving into her latest books! Irresistible You is the first book in The Chicago Rebels series and I can already tell you I will most definitely be reading every future installment!! The series centers around three half sisters, Harper, Violet and Isobel, who all share the same father. With the recent passing of their father, the ladies learn they inherited their father's pro hockey team. The sisters aren't close at all and barely know each other which makes for a very interesting working environment!! I loved watching the women start to form a relationship with each other!! As the ladies begin to figure out their new normal, oldest sister, Harper and hockey player, Remy DuPre, develop a serious attraction toward each other that both want to deny!! But in true Kate Meader fashion, Harper and Remy can't deny their amazing chemistry and their love/hate relationship may just turn into a love/love romance!! Wowzer!!!

Irresistible You is a fast paced, steamy and entertaining romance novel. I was "all in" from the beginning!! I often feel the first books in a series tend to be overly informative, but Kate Meader does an awesome job with organically telling the story at the same time laying down the groundwork for the series. I have to say I'm already chomping at the bit to read Isobel and Violet's story--seriously I can't wait!! Irresistible You is a 4.5 star gem that everyone will want to read!! I highly recommend this read!

Great chemistry between the hero and the heroine! Although when we first met Remy, I thought he's another manwhore. But I was nicely surprised-he was a good guy, he just has issues. Speaking of issues, Harper has lots of issues and wants to prove that she can take this team from zero to hero!

Loved the banter and the storyline!

ARC received from: the Publisher

Trope: Sports Romance

Chemistry: Off the charts Scorchio

One-Sentence Summary: Strong petite female Versus a large Cajun hockey player

Review: In 1995 Susan Elizabeth Phillips gave us Phoebe Somerville, in 2009 Rachel Gibson gave us Faith Duffy and now in 2017 Kate Meader gives us the indomitable Harper Chase the new owner of a Hockey team who has to overcome all obstacles including a spiteful ex, 2 half sisters, a large dose of misogyny and one large burly irritable Cajun hockey player!

When the Hot In Chicago series came to an end, I held a minute's silence for the end of the scorching hot series and wondered what could possibly top a trilogy (give or take a novella) about hot firemen ....... erm, how about a series about hockey players and the three half-sisters who have inherited the team!!!

I can't even begin to describe the insane chemistry between Harper and Remy .... my words simply aren't good enough. All I can say is that from the scene in the rain in New Orleans all the way to the very end, you will feel like you need the entire Engine Co. 6 to come armed with their hoses (oh my, the double entendres!) to cool you down.

Harper is everything you would expect from a strong businesswoman tasked with whipping a bunch of men into shape. It is clear that issues with her father in the past affect her decisions and relationships in the present but these do not weigh down the story and instead give her character depth and flaws. Remy is the real surprise. When we and Harper meet him he has a half-naked girl draped across him and he is resistant, to put it nicely, to accepting that he has been traded and backs Harper into a corner before he is willing to try his hardest on the ice. We soon learn though that he has a heart of gold and family is the most important thing to him and is pretty much the perfect guy in every sense, even if takes Harper awhile to believe it.

Harper and Remy aside, we also get to meet Harper's sisters, Isobel and Violet who have their own issues to deal with alongside future romances with Vadim (who no doubt is sexier than his name sounds. This is a reconciliation romance so needless to say I am totally looking forward to this!) and Bren respectively. As always in a Meader series, their books are set up well in this first novel and have you wishing their books were available to read rightaway. (Like seriously, at the risk of sounding like a drug addict jonesing for their next fix, who do I have to blackmail around here to make that happen ... ;)

Not even halfway through the year I think I've found my favourite romance of 2017.
