It is an interesting read. I have read a great deal of books on autism and Asperger's. My son has it and is headed into adulthood soon. I really thought that the author was engaging trying to explain in the best terms possible what this is like to live with everyday for someone with this neurological issue. The book is very straightforward and attempts to make understanding a human right rather than a medical one.

While books that deal with adults on autism spectrum are starting to come out there is still a dearth of them. This is one of the most accessible of them.Dr.Beardon goes with the different programing angle for the autistic brain,an angle I partially disagree with, but the practical advice works well.

The changing of audience from the author to 3 parties to the autistic threw me off in some sections but it worked depending on the life area the writing was dealing with.A mixture of advice, hypotheticals, examples and matter of factness the book hit on everything from relationships to anxiety to work.

Simply written and on point this would work especially well for an individual who is new to the spectrum.

I picked up this book as a new insight into some of my students and their struggles, but found myself learning about a lot more than that! The book is very informative. It breaks the issues down and presents them both from a societal and biological point of view. It discusses the struggles that individuals face, often from their own points of view. It is unbiased, nonjudgmental, and very well written.
