I could not put this book down. A very engaging story. Connor Douglas has to marry and quickly. He knows the perfect woman, the sister of his best friend. All does not go as planned when he finds out that she has already eloped with another man. He goes after them to try and convince her that she will be much better off with him as a husband.

I just finished this story and what a fun journey from beginning to the end. A sad beginning with lots and lots of little adventures leading to our 'Happy Ever After' ending. I will miss these characters. But I do look forward with anticipation to the stories of the brothers of Conner our Thea's "Scot". I enjoyed this story so much,, I just must give it 5-stars. I hope, and believe, you will enjoy this story as much as I did. Happy Reading!!

Connor and Theas interactions had me alternating between laughing and feeling hot! I loved Theas spirit, her strength . I enjoyed watching Connor struggle with understanding why she didn't happily jump into his arms at his proposal.

This is a terrific story of a man, Conner, who has four months to marry, due to a family will. He has an old friend in mind for a quick marriage of convenience, Thea, but she is not going with the program! This romance has so much going for it- great characters, witty, well written dialogue, humor that had me laughing, and plenty of good old fashioned heat. I couldn't put it down and highly recommend it. It is the start of what looks to be an enthralling series- and this reader is looking forward to that next story!

Great new Made To Marry Series about 3 brothers made to marry in 4 months time. This first book I received as an ARC. I loved Conner and Thea's story. Conner fights Thea's love almost the whole book. Great read, can't wait to read the next one!

This novel was a very delightful read. I enjoyed the interaction between the two main characters. When the Duke of Hamilton loses his wife, Anna, is childbirth, it beings the Douglas brothers back together. Anna was their sister and surrogate mother. However, she has prevented them from their inheritance.....
Miss Theodora Cumberbatch-Snowe is a spinster who have been in love with the middle Douglas brother , Conner, since he came to her home with her older brother. She decided to elope with a country squire and is on her way to Scotland. Thea is a very strong and witty individual, not to mention stubborn. Thea is looking to have a true home, since she has never had one and Conner cannot give that to her
Conner Douglas has no desire to marry, for his mistress is the sea. He is a rogue, but considers Thea a friend. Conner is a privateer, and is determined and stubborn. When he needs to marry to receive his inheritance or forfeit it to the Campbells, their sworn enemies, he is angry but knows the perfect woman who would marry him and allow his to keep his current lifestyle. He he discovers her elopement, he chases after her since she is to marry him, not this country squire!
Thea is angry with Conner's interference. Conner does everything he can to show Thea she is marrying the wrong man. They meet others along the way who join them on their journey, some due to Conner's "influence". However, Conner begins to see Thea in a different light as they travel and it stirs feelings in him he never expected. He wants her but will not give up the sea, which he considers home. The kisses they share are extremely passionate, but Thea knows it will lead her her to a broken heart. She wants a family and a place to call home and she cannot have that with Conner. Conner does not give up his pursuit of Thea and he wants her as his wife in every way. When Conner and Thea finally open themselves completely up to each other, where will it lead them?

The first book in a new series brings a batch of brothers who would rather be wenching, flirting, and riding the high seas than to ever become an honest married man. That is until their older sister dies in childbirth and in her will she requires them all to marry respectable women within three months of her passing or lose their inheritance. The first brother up for wedded bliss is Conner, the middle brother, and he decides that he isn't going to give up his chosen lifestyle. He is going to marry a quiet woman who he can set up at his country home while he goes off riding the high seas and seducing the wives of other men. He decides the perfect candidate is the younger sister of his best friend. But what he doesn't plan on is that once he finally shows up to propose, she has run off with a local squire.

Thea has loved Conner since she was a young girl but he has never truly seen her. She is only the little sister of his friend and so she finally decides enough is enough and she wants her own household and family. Her candidate for marriage is a decent fellow but he doesn't spark the desire Conner has always been successful at (if unknowingly) pulling out of her. When he shows up during her elopement and tags along, she comes to realize that she was never successful in giving up her love for him but spending time with him has also shown her that their love is doomed. He is married to the sea and will never be happy on land.

This was a fun story. The antics Conor gets up to to slow down the elopement were fun to watch and how she kept getting so frustrated with his meddling was great. I loved the scene in the breakfast room of one of the inns they staid at between her and Lance when they both decide that they aren't meant to be was priceless. Lance does get his happily ever after too which was nice to see. Overall an enjoyable story and I look forward to watching the other brothers find true love.

I received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review. The story is about Connor who needs to marry to obtain his inheritance within 4 months. He decides oh Thea but did mot plan on her having eloped earlier that day. He catches up with her and her fiance after a carriage accident and determines that they do nit match and he wants to marry her. The antics he goes thru are somewhat funny at times but in the end there is s HEA. It is a good romance book with lots of funny interactions and quite vanilla.

A book filled with mayhem, adventure and romance is always a must read. Conner gets it into his head that he wants to marry Theodora when his sister's will demands he marries in order to keep his inheritance. He soon finds that Thea has other plans and sets out to win her by any means neccessary. Great read!

Wonderful summer escape to regency England, completed with a spirited and fresh heroine and a manly and appealing hero. This was my first Karen Hawkins book, but it definitely won't be the last - her style was smooth and easy, I enjoyed it a lot. Recommend!

Absolutely adorable. Loved the slow burn between Thea and Connor. Even the supporting characters brought so much to the storyline. Well done.

I got this ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Karen Hawkins did another great job though it’s not a typical Highland novel. Conner needs to marry an eligible woman – within three months – and there’s only one woman he can think of Thea, his best friend’s sister. If he doesn’t win her hand the family fortune might go to their rivals. But the story isn’t that easy. Conner is a privateer and Thea just eloped with a squire when Conner arrives to ask for his hand.
The problem is that Conner and Thea know each other quite well and she knows that he cannot live without his ships and the sea. He wants a biddable wife, so he can sail the seven seas and keep his mistresses.
But there is a magnetism between Conner and Thea, one that isn’t between Lance, the squire, and her at all but he was there and he asked for her hand.
It’s a funny story with lots of funny small intrigues, a well done novel but for me there was too little Highland flair in it, nevertheless Conner was a hot dude!

Surprisingly deep story about going after what you really want... after you discover what that is. Two friends, Thea and Connor, slowly become romantically involved but only after miles and miles of traveling through Scotland.

Anna has just died in childbirth - and has left her three brothers with instructions to settle down and marry, or see their inheritances gifted to their mortal enemies. This is the story of Connor, and Connor knows exactly who to marry: Evie. She's practical and won't give him any grief.

Evie's loved Connor for years, but he doesn't know that. She's ready to move on and decides to elope with a local squire.

Connor is rather put out to discover Evie's now unavailable...but he's not giving up.

This was a fun and funny romance, but I also appreciated the fact that they didn't shy away from Connor's grief over losing his sister. Another great read from Karen Hawkins - I'm looking forward to the next one in the series!

Karen Hawkins does another great job in this first book in a new series. There's nothing more fun than friends who have known each other for year who finally recognize the magnetism between them only to find each other at the wrong time. Conner Douglas, handsome Scottish privateer must marry to inherit his fortune. The only women he can think of is his best friends sister. Theodora has been in love with Conner since she was a teen. Unfortunately, he shows up just hours after she has eloped with someone else.
The ensuing adventure as Conner joins the engaged couple on their trip to Gretna Green is laughable sometimes and heartbreaking at others. All Thea wants in a home to settle down in and Conner wants to be at sea. Add in Lance, Thea's fiancee and Jane, the woman hired as her companion for the trip and romance is in the air.
I received an advanced copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Connor Douglas was a privateer, a Scot and one of three brothers, who had just lost their sister. In her will the brothers had to get married within 4 months or their inheritance went to the Campbells, their enemy. Theodora Cumberbatch-Snowe was the sister of his friend and had known him since she was little. She loved him but because he loved the sea she felt there was no hope.
He finally decided she was the one because she would be easy. He arrived at her house only to find she had just left and had eloped. He was not a happy camper. Now that I write this, it really is a complex plot. There are so many twists. The characters are so authentic and some are funny. I could not put this down . I was so entranced. The descriptions were amazing, an example, the way the sea and Dunskey made you feel like you were standing there, smelling the air and seeing the colors in the water or looking at the Dunskey manor and seeing the neglect. The interactions between the characters, Connor and Lance bantering back and forth and Thea trying to stop Connor from his mischieousness were incredible. I don't know how the author could keep all those strings straight and still keep the story so very entertaining. I so very much admired this book and glad I got the chance to read it. I can't wait till the next one.

Conner sometimes just blurts his feelings out, “aye, me,” he snapped. “Every time we’re alone, I end up kissing you. At this very moment, you’re fortunate we’re in full view of those blasted women and my servants, or I’d have you in my arms right now. For much more than a kiss.” Theodora can be a bold one at times, “you, sir, are many things , but staid is not one of them.” As she spoke, she slipped her hand to his hip and then around to his—" I really liked this book, I fell in love with conner and this book.

This was actually really adorable! Shippable romance and Thea was an enjoyable character to read about.

I really enjoyed this book! A quick, easy read that was touching and sweet. Conner is a Scot filled with wanderlust who must find a wife in order to keep his inheritance from his enemies. His first candidate is Thea, whom he thinks will provide him with a marriage of convenience. Unbeknownst to Conner, Thea has eloped... with an attractive squire!! Conner's fight to win Thea's affections and Thea's attempts to thwart him are so cute.

I would recommend to anyone looking for something fast to read.

Although I am a huge fan of Karen Hawkins, I really didn't enjoy this story. The characters were lackluster along with their chemistry. The story felt like it was being forced towards a happy ending even if the hero and heroine were not meant to be together. It was a disappointing read.
