How much drama can happen to two people? That seems to be the question that Saved by the single dad is trying to answer. I didn't read this book expecting realistic storytelling but the two characters just had to deal with too much stuff. Pregnancy's, floods, kids stuck in mud, carbon monoxide poisoning, GAAAAHHH iy was just too much.

As a result of this the two main characters lacked in personality and had zero chemistry which is kinda what romances are all about.

This book is perfectly readable but I didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted too.

This is an easy read, with a hint of the medical, a bit of romance and lots of drama. Jack is a likeable character and I warmed to Cass. The action drama works well but the romance wasn't as warm as it could have been. All in all an enjoyable read.

3.5 stars.

Another re-release in the M&B Single Dad Romance line, putting a new cover on an old book – in this case a Medical Romance from the Stranded in His Arms series. It stands alone well, although the epilogue is sadly missing some funny stuff that must have happened in the first book. Away from that, though, this is an easy read with a hint of medical stuff, a bit of romance and lots and lots of drama.

I loved the drama. From the beginning where Jack is almost swept away, through several exciting medical rescues, this book isn’t lacking in action. The flood helps contain everything to a small area, raising the risk factor and keeping things interesting.

I also really loved Jack. He’s dedicated to his job as a paramedic, but also adores his daughter Ellie. He’s also kind and patient, caring and strong. He’s kind of perfect, really. His only issue arises from the early loss of his father, and even that’s pretty minor against all his other great points.

Cass has a lot more issues, mainly because her pain is more recent and she’s still heart sore. She’s also brave and dedicated, plus super competent. I liked her, but I didn’t love her. Partly because of her stubbornness, but also because there are a few moments where she acts a bit over the top, all things considered.

And that’s why I didn’t love this book. As great as the action drama is, the romance drama didn’t work as well for me. I felt like a few steps were missed at times, especially when their attraction suddenly bursts into flames. I like both characters and they make a great team, but there wasn’t much romance in their relationship. It’s all pretty easy, except for the obvious drama, and it didn’t draw me in as much as I’d hoped.

Overall I liked this but didn’t love it. Jack is lovely and Ellie is a real cutie. Cass makes a good strong heroine, though I’d rather have seen more of her at work rather than stubbornly ploughing through her vulnerabilities. If you like medical romances without any doctors or nurses, but plenty of life-saving action that make for quick, easy reads, then give this a go.

The book begins where Cass (a fire operative) saves Jack from a flooded area. The two become interested with each other, but due to earlier experiences neither want to become more involved, despite the chemistry between them.

As the story unfolds they find that passion increases and can't be denied, though there are various obstacles put in their way. The characters are likeable, as are other peripheral characters in the book, though a little stereotyped. The story is enjoyable, though a little drawn out in places.

An exciting end to the book.

Welcome to Holme, 5 stars 🌟 :

The perfect afternoon read! Welcome to Holme, when can I move in!

When Jack Halliday and his ambulance partner Mimi Sawyer are called out to a pregnant woman due to give birth, Jack doesn't expect to find himself being saved by Cassandra Clarke, Cass, a local firefighter, when a river bursts its banks leaving them stranded in the village.

As Jack and Cass work together to help the villagers during the disaster the tension builds and the sparks fly but can Cass overcome her past heartbreak and accept Jack and his daughter Ellie, everything she has ever wanted and can Jack overcome his abandonment issues to find their HEA!

If you are looking for a enjoyable way to spend a lazy afternoon than Ms Claydon has written a wonderful representation of a close rural community where everyone knows and cares for each other with the vicarage and the Reverend Martin and his wife Sue at the centre of the community but Miss Palmer is the hidden gem of the story.

The epilogue was the perfect conclusion to the story with enough to whet your appetite for Rafe and Mimi’s story and if you loved Jack and Cass's story then look out for Rescued by Dr Rafe!

Fyi I received my copy from NetGalley and Mills and Boon via Mills and Boon Insiders, but this does not influence my opinions as all opinions are my own.
