Quinn plans a kidnapping because he is sure that if he shows Merial that he can take care of her, she will decide that she needs him. He wants to always be with her and she doesn't think she is good enough. She isn't the lady he thinks. Quinn has a few surprises for Merial and she has a few of her own.

A fun, quick read full of typical Jeffries characters and situations. An amazing author that can paint a full picture even in a novella. I really enjoyed it.

Sabrina Jeffries is one of my favorite writers and she did not disappoint with this short story. The story line and characters are out of this world. I loved this book and look forward to her next!

Very, very short story, but satisfying. A young widow and her new love learn that keeping secrets is not the best way to keep a romance.

**Thank you to the publisher and Net Galley in exchange of an honest review.**

Meriel Vyse is a woman who can take care of herself, but when an attempt is made to abduct her, she does the unthinkable and stabs her would-be rescuer, Quinn Raines. Unbeknownst to Meriel, Quinn had set up the abduction in the hopes to show her he could be a hero for her and not just a boring banker.

This is the set-up for a very quick story about two people who are afraid to confess their love for each other. I had a problem with a few of the details of this story especially Meriel being invited to a ball. Without revealing any spoilers, she was not a member of the ton, not even on the fringe, and so her premise for leaving the house that night fell a little flat. I would have loved to be more invested in Meriel and Quinn and their feelings for each other, but everything happened so fast, that I didn't really feel their love for each other.

If you're looking for a very quick read, then this book will definitely fit the bill.

An enjoyable short story with a touch of humor of 2 people afraid to admit how they feel about each other till events go awry & truths revealed . Meriel & Quinn are delightful. You can't help but root for them to reach for their HEA.

Sabrina Jeffries offers her readers this novella as part of her Sinful Suitors series. This story is a novella so it is very short and takes place over the course of an evening. I really enjoyed how much Ms. Jeffries is able to put into such a short story and was sorry there wasn’t more. The characters really come to life and we want to know more about them.
Meriel Vyse, widowed sister-in-law to Baron Fulkham, does a lot for her brother-in-law including spying for him when he needs her to. She knows that she owes him, but her recent activities are playing havoc with her romantic life. Meriel knows that she needs to make a decision about what she wants to do. Can she give up her debt to her brother-in-law for a chance at love?
Quinn Raines is part of a wealthy banking family. He is also in love with Meriel and wants to make her his wife. Unfortunately, she seems to be avoiding any deep commitment. To show her that he cares about her, Quinn has the unfortunate idea to plan a fake kidnapping. During his efforts to “save” her, Meriel stabs him. Quinn just wants the truth to come out about how they both feel for each other.
A lot happens in a short number of pages. Ms. Jeffries knows how to pull her audiences in and how to tell a story with passion and romance. I am looking forward to her next book in this series which will be longer.

Meriel is a widow who is enamored of Raines. Raines is a banker from a very dignified family. Meriel has a past which is not the least bit dignified and she does not believe Raines could fall in love with someone like her.
Raines stages an abduction to prove his love to Meriel. She accidentally stabs him.
This is a typical story by Ms Jeffries. Her characters are people charming this reader likes very much. The plot is entertaining and very well written. And she makes you laugh.
This is a quick read. Everything about this story is enjoyable. And one more time, Ms Jeffries has provided me with a terrific story.
I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley. I am voluntarily writing this review and all opinions are my own.

For a novella, this felt like a very complete story. A lady with a secret past and the man who loves her. Fun and well written.

The premise did not catch my eye but I was surprised upon reading what a delightful story this was! Novellas are tricky, but when done right they can just be so darned delightful. Short and sweet. That's this in a nutshell!

really liked it

A super novella that goes from a to z quickly! This writer seems to captivate me with the way she can tell a story and you do not feel rushed or that the plot is missing something! I sincerely enjoyed reading where the relationship happens quickly and the rest is tied up along the way to the end! I will not give any spoilers so just buy the story and sit and enjoy! I was given this book in return for an honest review. Anna Swedenmom

A cute short story! Mrs. Meriel Vyse, widow, works for her brother-in-law Baron Fulkham gathering information at social events. She is in love with Quinn Raines, a banker, but feels she owes Fulkham for the help he gave her when she needed it. A surprise attack in her and rescue by Quinn leads to a HEA. There is more going on and I won't ruin the plot. Thank you to Sabrina Jeffries for the ARC. Release date is October 2nd.

Meriel Vyse isn't sure about the way her life is going. She has been working for her husband's brother as a spy but she hates the work. And getting to know Quinn Raines has really made her long for a normal life.
Quinn Raines is also in love with Meriel which is why he fakes a kidnapping (really?) so that he can "rescue" her. Little does he know she's perfectly capable of rescuing herself. He finds out when she pulls a knife from her reticule and stabs him.
At under 50 pages, that really is pretty much the whole story. It's a nice story though short. Very, very short.

Three stars
This book comes out October 2

This is a VERY short story about two secondary characters that we met in the previous books in this series that also partly sets the stage for the upcoming full length novel about Baron Fulkham.

While the idea of the hero pressing his suit with a fake abduction that turns against him is painted in a funny way, I fear lengthwise there was simply not enough space to explore the romance in depth and this read may therefore feel unsatisfactory to some readers.

A short and sweet novella about Quinn and Meriel which shows all the silly things people do when they are in love. I liked both the hero and heroine's characters and was charmed by the crazy way that Quinn tried to win over Meriel.

A great novella.
Meriel is a beautiful young widow and Quinn wants desperately to marry her. Meriel however, has no plans to marry again, so Quinn sets up a fake abduction so that he could show his heroism and save her....who could turn away a swain so brave.
Alas, thing's don't go exactly as planned.
A great fun story, loved every page.
