This non-fiction volume challenges much of the popular psychology notions of male/female gender differences in brain function. Much of the book rehashes the literature of evolutionary psychology and self-help on the market to debunk the findings, which can be a bit dry. On the other hand, the introductions to each chapter are personal to the author, sometimes unnecessarily and uncomfortably so. Overall, the goal here is to attribute gender differences to cultural norms rather than brain science and to create an alternative voice to the Men are from Mars type arguments. This counterpoint is one that is interesting and needed, but the tone at times took something away from the presentation.

I have an MS in Psychology, and thus have plowed through many sociology and psychology texts, but I've never read such poorly-written drivel as this. There may have been some gems in the mix, but we'll never know...
