This is the second book in the Breeder series. Though this book could be read as a standalone I would highly suggest reading the first book “Breeder” to get a better understanding to the world you are about to enter. I have enjoyed these stories from author Cara Bristol; she has a way with sexy aliens. This is a good story with great characters and I really like the heroine. Even though Tara isn’t from this male-dominating world, for the most part she didn’t let these men push her around. She’s smart, stubborn, and sassy; I think these are great characteristics to read about. After being kidnapped by Alpha Commander Marlix she does try to escape when that fails she goes for seduction, a seduction that changes the Commanders views. I do have to enclose that there is abuse and rape for those who have issues with those types of triggers. Usually I skip these types of books but again, I’ve read this author in the past and have enjoyed her work. This story had great action, some suspense, and consensual hot alien sexy scenes you should check out.

Terran is book 2 in the Breeder series and as with book 1 please be advised that this world the author has created is not a pleasant one. Woman are treated terribly and are taken sexually without consent. So with that said I loved this book, Tara and Marlik were great together. Marlik is definitely a jerk and kidnaps Tara simply because he wants her. What I loved about him was that even though he didn't believe in going against protocol his desire for Tara overruled. Also his guilt over his secret that he didn't have sex with his beta but instead they both used woman made it even harder to not love him. A civil war is starting and I can't wait to see what changes come from it.

The second in this series. It continues as it started, nothing has changed in the world of Parseon, so if you haven't read the first book and expects respect for women etc, stop now and go no further. It is as it said contains dubious content and if you are someone who want equal opportunity and negative rape or attempted or any of that sort, you gonna be disappointed.

Righto, so we met both Tara and Marlix in the previous book, Tara is working inthe human bazaar selling cloths while Marlix is one of five Alpha Commanders. This all goes wrong or right when Marlix goes to buy some special cloth from Tara, when she goes to try and give him the needles and other items required to make the clothing she is attacked by the betas in the city. Taking her to his home with his beta, he is entranced by the alien human woman. Tara rouses in Marlix house and tries to do a runner, however that does not go as planned then she brings out the big guns; seduction.

Whilst this culture treats women as less than human, one can sense that change is on the cusp especially as the Enclave spreads (places that disregard protocol and treat women almost equal) but it also pushes the other Alphas who reject change to try and curb these fractions by committing murder and trying to cleanse these areas, however as Dak still fights for his people and Marlix realises that maybe he is not an abomination because he and his beta prefers women instead of using his beta as it should be according to Protocol.

This book focuses mostly on the budding relationship between these two, one which sees changes in mindsets, understanding and misunderstanding cultures, and accepting that maybe what you think you want may not always be what you need.

A few things to note, we discover Anika from book one is actually a sibling of an Alpha and is doing well in the Enclave with her chosen Beta who saved her from book one, Ramon, Tara assistant tries his best to save her and that Civil war is sure as heck happening and the men of Parseon are like virgins in some ways who need guidance.
I liked it and if these topics are things you have no issues reading about then this author has it in the bag for you. I received a copy of this book from NetGalley for review purposes and have voluntarily reviewed.

Tara, a fiery earth gal, facing off against one of the planet’s fiercest alphas was a story I just could not resist. Throw in rabid philosophical difference and the seeds of a planetary civil war and, it was even more enticing.
Review

Terran is the second book in the Breeder series. It doesn’t standalone well, but a reader could get by reading it out of order. Personally, I think the first book, that sets up the world of Parseon and the situation there along with the overall cast of characters, should be read first for optimum enjoyment.

So yes, this story builds on the last and continues the story of Parseon’s growing struggles as some wish to keep to the old ways while others wish to go somewhere new. Tara, a tough and independent earth girl coming to Parseon as a businesswoman is the epitome of what the struggle is all about. Some would have her beaten and raped back into her place as a subservient female (and do) while others would see her as an intelligent equal (which attitude is still looked down on in the culture).

Alpha Commander Marlix is at a crossroads in his life. He has secretly and shamefully considered himself a deviant. And why? Because he is attracted to females rather than only using them if he has a breeding contract. His attraction to an alien female makes him feel even worse, but it doesn’t stop him from rescuing her, healing her, and keeping her.

As with the first book, I found this one brutal in ways, steamier than a Turkish bath, but also intriguing as it delved into explorations of equality, worth, and clash of ideologies. It also gets exciting because the ‘clash’ is personal and on a large scale across the planet. Tara and Marlix make assumptions about each other, men and women, and races. There was a two steps forward one step back learning process for them accompanied by the flare of strong attraction and need as they explored each other.

Like the book before, I will warn- this is not for everyone. It has trigger issues for some and for others it will be not to their taste. The Parseon culture is heavy-handed and brutal toward females and examples (off scene in case of Rape) are there. Domestic Discipline and submission are strong elements.

All in all, Terran was a strong second installment in the trilogy and sets things up for the final events in the third book. As I said, I appreciate the balance of heat and development which is what I love best if I pick up an erotic romance and I can definitely recommend it.

While more enjoyable than there is still a darkness in this science fiction romance than is not off set enough by character development and connection to overcome those elements for the plot for me.

I like these characters but the nature of the world keeps real intimacy from them and makes the trials less palatable.

I was given this book for my honest review. So there you have it.

Four and a half
This second book about those who live on the misogynistic planet of Parseon sees the author giving us a Terran ( human ) heroine. Tara has arrived on the planet and is determined to start a new life. Yes she knows that women are treated very differently but she has no idea just how much information has not been shared . She gets a rude and violent crash course when she's attacked but when she's rescued by Alpha Marlix the last thing Tara expects is to be kidnapped by him! Marlix is used to being obeyed, no one questions him and yet the plucky Terran female shows him no respect! Worse still is his inability to ignore her so Marlix has a plan to gorge himself on her until his interest is sated but the more time he spends with Tara the more he questions what he has always believed.
I admit after reading the first book Breeder I wasn't sure just how the author could soften up Marlix and yet I'm very impressed with his portrayal here. No there's no about face but there is plenty of growth as Marlix has an enquiring mind and allows Tara to speak and even when necessary instruct. The way women are viewed and treated under Protocol is abhorrent to me so it was an interesting idea to pit Marlix against the seemingly outrageous Tara as she's much more than she appears. Tara has remade herself after something that would devastate most women and her bright colourful shell hides a warm fierce woman. Seeing them learn about each other and finally begin to understand the depth of feelings they share made for a riveting read.
On a final note this does portray a society that actively encourages m/m pairings ( Alphas have Betas ) with females treated like slaves and only seen as breeders with discipline frequently meted out. Some readers will find the non consensual acts unpleasant and it's a far cry from BDSM so you have been warned. Unless intending to procreate physical contact is just to find relief for the male and involves back door action only so it's very much a society that is unpleasant to read about. So why did I ? Simply because the author is expanding this world she has created and turning the horror into hope. We are seeing characters grow , we are being taken on a journey with them and no there's no outright revolution on the cards but changes are not just coming but actually happening! Certainly this series is unlike any other sci fi romance availabile and I'm very interested to find out what happens next as it would seem a Beta who is not considered worthy of siring children just might go against established ideas but alas until the next book is available I will have to bide my time and look for other stories to capture my imagination as much as this one
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

I was generously provided with a free copy of this book by Netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review:
Terran is the second book in the Breeder series but you don't have to have read the first book in order to enjoy the second. Although, reading the first book with give you greater insight into the immersive world of the Breeder series. Be warned, though. This book is not for everyone. Some people may become offended by the alien culture and the social standing and treatment of women in the world of the Breeder series. With that said though, I thought the book was a quick sci-fi romance read with sexual tension between the characters that smoldered off the pages.

Both Tara and Alpha Marlix were side characters in Breeder the first story in the series. Marlin starts out as an enemy of the treaty with Terra but he has a secret. Unlike other males on his planet he prefers sex with females not other males. When he rescues Tara feeling that he does not want drive the plot in the story. Tara starts out as a very strong characters but for me she weakens as her attraction to Marlix becomes stronger. Even so I liked the story. There is danger and tension driving the story line. While Marlix and Tara come to their HEA there is a lot more to change on the planet Parson.

I received a free copy of the book in return for an honest review.

Steamy hot. It's nice to see the men's attitudes coming around and see the change that will hopefully come about in the society. I'm looking forward to the last book in the trilogy to see how it plays out

A quick sci-fi romance. Now this is the second in the series. It's been some time since I read the first but I didn't have any problem following along with the story. This particular series is a bit rougher, meaning females are considered very far below the scale of respected members of this society. They're treated a bit rougher and the beginning chapters there is some violence. Nothing too drawn out or explicitly detailed but still present. I will admit that I liked this one. Not a lot of depth but it was still a really good book. I'm a sucker for sci-fi romances and this one had all the perks that I like to see.

Compared to book 1, this is, not really boring but there were some parts of the novel that I did skip.
The story's quite exciting but it's not as packed as book 1. I was expecting more drama between the 2 main characters.

Towards the end, I was kind of waiting for a miracle, I thought Tara would get pregnant..but that didn't happen, so I was hugely disappointe

I was anxiously waiting for the follow up to Breeder and Terran did not disappoint. I loved both the H/h! First of all, Marlix comes off as a huge chauvinist pig but as we get to know him and how he was raised, we start to understand. He is a product of his upbringing but has a kind heart and a big softie. The reader does empathize with his struggle with Parseon Protocol and his role as an Alpha and how he should feel especially toward Tara. Normally when writers try to write about a spunky heroine, they end up portraying them as annoying and shrill. But Tara is the perfect amount of spunky strength and softness. She is the perfect mate to Marlix. The story is basically about Tara and Marlix falling in love and coming to terms/compromising with their relationship and how it interacts living on Parseon. There is a backdrop of a possible civil war and I'm assuming it will be resolved in the 3rd and final book Warrior. I have been really enjoying this series and will be sad to see it end!
