A nice rom-com featuring Cassie and Jake. You know these two will eventually settle into a good relationship, but no spoilers from me about what happens along the way.

Summer in San Remo had a setting that immediately appealed to me. The Italian Riviera! Who wouldn’t want to go there, even if only vicariously? I also liked the fact that Cassie, the main character, runs a concierge service which is a bit different to other books I have read.

Cassie has had a bit of bad luck when a lucrative, but odd, assignment comes her way. But it means she needs the help of the man who broke her heart when she was 17, Jake McQuire. She swallows her pride and they head off on an adventure to Italy together. It all happens quite quickly and conveniently, but it’s such a lovely, sweet and appealing story that I can forgive that.

I liked Cassie and Jake a lot. They have a great rapport, sparring against each other with lots of sexual and romantic tension. Cassie is very proud and doesn’t want to give Jake an inch, and Jake is, quite frankly, Mr Perfect. He’s good looking, a billionaire, generous, kind, fun. I was willing this couple to get together again. And where better to do it than in such a beautiful setting. The Italian area in which they stay is perfectly portrayed. I could imagine myself wafting around the villa, sightseeing and just generally enjoying myself. As I say, living it vicariously!

Summer in San Remo is a lovely, light, fun and very charming read. It’s a romance novel that made me smile on many occasions. It’s not taxing and was an absolute pleasure to read from start to finish. I shall look forward to the next in the Riviera Rogues novels.

When Concierge Service owner Cassie first knew Jake McQuire she was seventeen and madly in love, but he deserted her to his family's business in New York, she never heard from him again and he broke her heart ..... badly. She's never forgotten or forgiven him.
But when a mysterious man offers her a well-paid job, posing as a married couple, her best friend and work colleague suggests Jake (who has now returned to Bath) the sparks begin to fly! They fly to the beautiful Italian resort of San Remo to find out more and to try and also find the colleague who stole Cassie's business money but Cassie's determined not to get involved with Jake again, he was her first love, but in the sunshine and romance of Italy she's finding it very difficult to resist him.
We not only hear Cassie's side but also Jake's too, which was a nice touch.
I really enjoyed this fun story, Cassie is a feisty lady who can stick up for herself, I loved their interactions and witty dialogue, the storyline had surprises and twists, and what a beautiful setting too. Even though I was in a freezing cold and snowy England Evonne Wareham's wonderful descriptions of the hot and steamy Riviera easily transported me to warmer climes.

You can tell from the gorgeous cover with its mediterranean colours that Evonne Wareham’s Summer in San Remo is an altogether breezier caper then her previous romantic suspense novels.

I liked spirited Cassie from the moment I met her, envied her her Bath office space and concierge agency, if not her money worries and ready meals, and thought it said a lot about her that her best friend Benita worked for her. Jake took longer to warm to, if only because he seems so sure of himself and clearly needs taking down a peg or two. Oh, but Evonne Wareham has just the woman for the job.

The pages crackle with sexual tension from the opening seconds of Cassie and Jake’s first reunion since they were teenagers and it’s pretty evident that Evonne Wareham enjoyed giving her wicked sense of humour an outing in Summer in San Remo. As I was reading, I could imagine her getting a playful kick out of her characters being put in awkward situation after awkward situation, and watching them positively squirm. I swear I even heard the occasional evil cackle while turning the pages.

Summer in San Remo is a rollicking good read, filled with the sizzling heat of characters with undeniable chemistry, as well as that sultry summer heat of the Mediterranean, once the mischief switches from Bath via London to San Remo and environs. I enjoyed this roguish escapade and hope there are more to come.

Summer in San Remo is such a charming tale that I couldn’t put it down. I found the story intriguing from beginning to end – and I must admit to being a little surprised by the twist. I really didn’t see that one coming, which is unusual for me. As an author, I’ve often got it sussed from the beginning lol. But that didn’t happen!

Cassie was a well-rounded character who I thoroughly liked from the start. She did have some quirks that made sense further into the story when we discover the history with her parents. Yet she’s still a wonderful character to read about.

Jake was equally fantastic. I mean, clearly he’s your stereotypical ‘bad boy’ but as you go deeper, you see there’s much more to him. Not only that, but he’s gorgeous to boot.

I loved the way the story developed as the couple spent time together in San Remo. If anything, I’d have liked to read more about the place itself. Not having a clue where it is, I think a little more description about the places they went to would have been even better. But having said that, I thoroughly enjoyed Summer in San Remo and look forward to reading more by Evonne Wareham in the future.

On another note, I discovered that the author doesn’t normally write books like these. She usually writes romantic suspense. I’d never have known. She’s clearly a natural!

After a few days of cold weather and of course now all this snow, I really needed an escape so this book came at the perfect time. I really appreciated the delightfully summery feel to this cover and story!

It was so easy to get attached to the characters there was a fantastic chemistry between them that was so entertaining to see play out. The story was just perfect for keeping my attention and this was definitely down to Cassie and Jake their interactions made for some fun moments. The characters go on a bit of an adventure trying to look into the dealings of a mysterious client. It didn't take me long to read at all and I couldn't wait to see if anything would happen between Cassie and Jake other than some brilliantly flirty moments.

Summer in San Remo is fun, uplifting and left me smiling away!

Four stars from me!

With thanks to Brook Cottage Books for my copy. This is my honest and unbiased opinion.

A gloriously escapist romantic read that sparkles with charm, excitement and sunshine, Summer in San Remo is a fabulous page-turner from award-winning author Evonne Wareham.

Cassie Travers has got enough on her plate running her own concierge business. Used to catering to the exacting whims of her clients, Cassie thought that, in her line of business, there was nothing left that could shock or flabbergast her – until she gets a very strange commission that forces her to step out of her comfort zone and travel all the way to Italy with the last man she thought she would ever clap eyes on: Jake McQuire, who has just come back from the States to take over the reins of the family-run detective agency…

When Cassie reappears back in his life desperate for his help with a client, Jake finds himself unable to say no to her. Their unexpected quest will take them all across Europe and to a luxury villa in the Italian riviera where they find themselves tangled up in a web of intrigue, mystery, danger and romance. As old feelings resurface with a vengeance, will it be second time lucky for Cassie and Jake? Or has too much water flown under the bridge for the two of them to have a second chance at happiness?

I’m a huge fan of Evonne Wareham and Summer in San Remo is a breezy, witty and compelling read that, while lighter in tone than some of her previous romantic thrillers, will still grab readers by the throat and have them devouring this irresistible tale in one sitting.

Wonderfully written, delightfully witty and full of action, emotion and romance, Summer in San Remo delivers on all counts and continues to confirm Evonne Wareham’s standing as a terrific writer of romance and women’s fiction.

What is the perfect job for someone who isn't sure what she wants to do? A concierge business where every day is different and Cassie has a chance to do a little of everything, including being the boss. She is a strong, independent woman, well except in one area. She has a weakness where her high school boyfriend is concerned. He left her to go off to college and broke her heart.
A few years later another boyfriend takes advantage of her and Cassie is back to square one, struggling to build her business and her trust in people. At least she has business partner and best friend Bennie.

Evonne Wareham has written some complicated and developed characters. They are unpredictable and imperfect. My feelings about them waffled as events happened. This is a book about trust and healing. It is about second (or third) chances and secrets. There is a sweet love story underneath it all, but a very rocky road must be traveled and at times I wasn't sure who might be hurt along the way. I felt compassion for both the main characters even when I wanted to scream at them for taking unadvised actions.

This is promoted as book one. Since so much happens in this first book I am very curious to see where the author takes this.

I’m delighted to see – on the Choc Lit website – that this book is also due to be released in paperback on 9th July 2018. If you’re not an e-book reader, that’s such perfect timing – if there was ever a book I’d describe as perfect for reading on your sun lounger with a cocktail in hand, this has to be it (although I rather enjoyed it in snowy February too!). This was such a lovely, light, beautifully written get-away-from-it-all read. Romantic comedy isn’t always for me, but I enjoyed every moment of this one.

A billionaire who runs a detective agency in Jake, Cassie with her struggling concierge service, a youthful romance gone wrong, a slightly suspect commission they need to work on together… stand back and wait for the explosion. Move the action to the South of France (vividly drawn), add in a double-crossing ex, lots of twists and turns and unexpected discoveries. The dialogue fizzes and sparkles, two quick-witted people verbally sparring with each other – not always something I enjoy, but the author has a perfect touch, mixing in well judged moments of simmering attraction and others of real poignancy before the next exchange that has you smiling again.

I instantly took to Cassie – and I particularly enjoyed the insights into Jake’s thoughts and point of view. The story’s a little different too – some surprises and twists that I really didn’t see coming. This book was just FUN – yes, with capital letters – but with enough originality and wit to make it stand out from the crowd. Remember now… one for your holidays (or guaranteed to lift your spirits on a snowy day). A lovely read.

There are days when life decides to throw you a big, stinking curveball, making your mood plummet quicker than your favourite sports team losing their game. There are also days when you're able to pick up a book and lose yourself in the storyline, completely tuning out to everything outside of the fictional world you now inhabit. 'Summer in San Remo' is one of those books.

Just like many people, I use books to escape my daily hell. Not only was I able to escape said hell with Evonne Wareham's novel, my mind was able to stop over thinking everything. How magic is that? I'm not even being dramatic!

Cassie Travers runs her own business doing 'odd jobs' for clients who either can't find the time to do them, or they have no idea where to even begin. Her work load changes direction when a unique job comes in, causing Cassie to call for extra help outside of her business. Unfortunately, that was where Cassie's past came back to bite her on the behind. That said, I think her past LITERALLY wanted to bite her on her behind...

I thought 'Summer in San Remo' was such a fun book to read, mixing a fast paced storyline with oodles of cracking one liners, touching situations, and a storyline which threatened to give me a sun tan from the pages alone. Oh if only!! Whilst the cover of this book highlights the summery feel, there really was a lot more to this book that meets the eye, a lot of which is found out over the course of the novel. What I'm trying to say is, if you're unsure of this book due to the simplistic cover, still pick it up and give it a go - you will not be disappointed.

The perfect antidote for anyone in a foul mood, 'Summer in San Remo' is the book that will give you the respite your mind needs. Full of summer lovin', picturesque setting, tons of drama, and characters who are incredibly fun, with a storyline that you're able to lose yourself in. What more could you want?

‘Summer in San Remo’ is the perfect summer read! If you are feeling stuck in a slump in rainy Britain, then this is the perfect book to transport you to sunny Italy! Romantic, fun but with hints of mystery throughout, this is the a book you devour!

We’ve all had strange requests in our jobs, but our heroine Cassie takes the cake. Having to find a husband in a day would be something she’d laugh at before, but as her ex-boyfriend has left her penniless, she’ll take any job she can. Cassie was a real laugh, and I loved following her story. She was a strong character, but felt all the more real to me by her willingness to scrape low. She didn’t just wait for something easy to come along, and she knew that to get her and her business out of the black, she’d need to do some not so great things.

Enter Jake. Oh what a gem. I adored his relationship with Cassie. The sparks flew and they had the best scenes together. Flirty, fun and warm, it was heartwarming to read. Both have problems in their lives, but together they put aside their past differences and get to heart of their mysterious job in San Remo - because there are mysteries to solve, and it’s these two who have to do it.

Escape to San Remo this summer with Evonne Wareham’s fantastic warm novel of love and mystery. You won’t be disappointed.

5 Stars!

When Cassie is ripped off by her "friend" Jason she is left running her concierge business, along with her partner Bennie, on a shoestring. Then she is offered a job that pays ridiculously well and she really can't afford to turn it down.....but is it legal?

The other drawback to the job is she needs to be married.......so where can she find a husband at this short notice! Running out of options she has to got to another local agency which is now being run by her ex Jake and hire a man.........and of course it has to be Jake the one man she never wanted to see again!

The job ends up taking them to Italy and staying in a luxury villa with Jake could end in disaster or will she remember what she loved about him all those years ago.

A lovely feel good book, light hearted and fun - great summer read

Thank you Netgalley and Choc Lit for providing me with a copy of this lovely book. This was such an interesting, entertaining and humorous book. I loved the main characters Jake and Cassie. I loved the chemistry between them and the witty banter. This book had all the right ingredients, a wonderful storyline with a mystery, a cute couple with sparks constantly flying, and a gorgeous location in Italy.
A light, fun read.

This is a funny, cute easy to read book about taking a chance. Cassie owns a concierge service that provides "goods and services " to those who don't have their own resources or the time. She and co-owner, Bene, have sunk everything into the business. But, a guy Cassie was dating ans quite serious about, scammed them and took all their money. They are about to lose it all until a strange and lucrative offer comes to them. All Cassie has to do is pick up and deliver an envelope. She doesn't think about questioning what could be in the envelope because the money has her so relieved to be in the black again.
Enter Cassie's old flame, Jake, now a multimillionaire, who finagles a way to escort Cassie in her mission to deliver the envelope. Things take a funny turn and it ends up with the two of them seeking out the illusive man that engaged Cassie. There is a lot of humor in the telling of this story and I laughed out loud often. Thoroughly enjoyable!

Loved this book. Great plot and writing. A bit of mystery and a second chance at love. The setting wasn't to shabby either.

Cassie Travers needs a husband but she only needs him for a day. Cassie runs a concierge service with her friend Benita, and their ex-employee has run off with all their money almost forcing them out of business so when a mysterious client offers Cassie a lucrative assignment Cassie jumps at the chance.

Jake McQuire was Cassie’s first love who left for America without a backward glance, he is now back in Bath running the family detective agency. For half of her fee he will help her with the assignment. Cassie thinks the assignment seems strange, so with Jake’s help they set off for the Italian Riviera to try to discover who the mysterious client is.

This has all the ingredients for a great summer read, it has likeable characters, a beautiful location, a touch of romance and the perfect ending.
