First, a thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the advanced copy of The Wife Between Us, which will be released on January 9, 2018. But second… a question for NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press about why they are giving out advanced copies of a book that is nearly impossible to review without giving something away? Okay, I’ll give it a whirl.
The Wife Between Us is a collaboration between Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen and it is classified as a domestic thriller and mystery. I have not read anything by Greer Hendricks, but I have read a few things by Sarah Pekkanen and especially enjoyed The Opposite of Me. Collaborations can sometimes be tough to read, but this was very seamless. This is a psychological thriller – I promise you that when this book is released the cover will have at least one comparison to Gone Girl, The Girl on the Train or Behind Closed Doors – but I am very happy to tell you that someone (actually two people) finally upended the genre in a pretty great way.
The structure will seem very familiar: unreliable narrator, unraveling marriage, alcohol, etc. The first part is an interesting and not exactly fast paced narrative of a woman on the edge of a nervous breakdown and then you twist and turn hard and fast. I knew from the publisher’s description that there was red herrings and a plot twist, but I had no idea it would be this. It’s simple and elegant and it pretty much works. I basically gulped it all down in a day because I was trying to figure out where they were going with it. It’s been a while since I’ve been kept on my toes like this, so I recommend it for a fast, fun read and I would recommend reading it in early January before everyone spoils it for you!
The Wife Between Us – Grade B+

This book left me gobsmacked about midway through when everything that I thought got flipped on it's head. After that point, it was one twist after another. What I thought was really cool was how the author began with a cliched character, and then fooled you. The pacing was quick enough that I never got bored, and the plot had me finding pockets of time in which to read. Like, in line at Dunkins etc.

This book kept me interested throughout, but there were times when things didn't make sense. So we see Nellie or Vanessa and how she deal with her marriage and life after divorce. The characters were well thought out, but the plot wasn't. Why go through such extremes to get out of a marriage then try to stop your ex's new marriage. The main character showed glimpses of weakness, then she was strong and determined then back to weakness. I was entertained, but it was not one of the best books I have read this year.

Very interesting storyline with many twists and turns. Gave much food for thought.

I sat in front of my computer for a very long time before I typed the first word on this review but I kept on erasing whatever I had written. It's because whatever I write, it will be a spoiler! The Wife Between Us is so good that you really have to read it!
With the holiday season coming, things will get hectic. But, if you can find time to read a book, then "The Wife Between Us" should be the one!
I cannot compare Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen as writing duo to anyone. This collaboration can challenge Dean Koontz suspense. But they are so different, it will be really unfair if I say that they are the next Dean Koontz.
I cannot even say Dan Brown. The suspense build up are similar but again, they are different. In short, Hendricks and Pekkanen are on a class of their own. I won't be surprise if this book lands in the bestseller list.
"A Wife Between Us" is Rated T for Teens due to adult situations. Parental guidance is strongly advised. There are no sex scenes in this book.

Oh my gosh, I absolutely devoured this book! I'm familiar with Sarah Pekkanen as an author, so that's what drew me in; I knew I wanted to read it before I even knew what the story was about. It's difficult to review a book like this without giving away any major spoilers, except to say that about a third of the way into the book, my jaw dropped. Things picked up even faster from that point forward, and I needed to know how the once-parallel lives of Richard's wives were beginning to intersect. This book is worth the read!

Nellie, a young pre school teacher is about to marry her fiance. Vanessa, the scorned ex wife of Nellie's husband to be is having a break down and seems to be trying to stop the wedding. Or is she?
Not all is what it seems in this fabulous psychological thriller that is guaranteed to keep you up to all hours, dying to find out what happens next!
With not one, but two big twists, this book had me on the edge of my seat and I had a few "I did not see that one coming" moments!
I would highly recommend this book!! Fans of Gone Girl and the TV show Doctor Foster will be hooked!

Thank you St. Martin's Press for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Do not look at any reviews, this book is too good to be spoiled. By the same token it is very difficult to write about this book without giving anything away.
The wife between us “ reads easily like a wonderful love story between the young Nellie and her charismatic very much in love ( and very rich ) older boyfriend Richard, BUT … you can immediately feel the tension, the reader can sense that there is more to the story, clues are being dropped and one wants to know the ‘what-is-what’. Nellie is a free spirit, Richard is a little controlling … however, this book will take you off the path you think you are on , and challenge your thinking all the way to last chapter. It is full of twists and turns, full of questions (‘is she crazy ? is he loving her too much ? who is telling the truth ?).
Dont assume anything, let the pages take you on a thrilling journey.
'The wife between us', is "from a distance” reminiscent of "Gone girl”, “You”, “The girl on the train” but in my opinion better written and more whole.
It is a very intelligent psychological thriller. Clear your schedule as you will want to read it in one sitting.
In hindsight, I feel some parts were written for the movies ( which I’m sure it will be picked up for very soon ) more so at the end of the book, but congratulations to the authors for blending their pens together so well. You wont be able to tell two people wrote this.
Nobody’s life is ever what it appears to be, dont assume /judge until you work into someone else’s shoes, we all carry stuff we dont share with the world..…. These are the premises of “The wife between us. Enjoy !

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy of THE WIFE BETWEEN US in exchange for an honest review.
Oh my word!! More twists and turns than a roller coaster. Just when you think you have this book all figured out, make sure you are ready to be thrown for another loop. This book was a page turner from start to finish. Who needs to eat or sleep anyway? Grab this book and read it already, you won't be sorry!

It's a story about a marriage that starts off "perfect" and winds up not being all that it seem.
Looking forward to reading other books by these authors.

This book is so well written it will keep you guessing all the way through. It's hard to give a good review without revealing any of the twists, so I will keep this short and sweet. A great debut novel where things are never what they seem. Once you start reading, you will instantly become addicted to the tense psychological thrill ride and won't be able to put it down.

This is a captivating read. The surprises keep coming right to the end. It blindsided me more than once. This book was hard to put down-Highly recommended!

The Wife Between Us is psychological suspense at its best. The writing is so convincing that you will naturally make certain assumptions. But, as the blurb for the book says you should assume absolutely nothing. I lost count of how many times I was totally surprised by what I thought I knew and even when the surprise ending was revealed there was still one last surprise. A story of love, deceit, betrayal and sickness it is scary and troubling and stunning and amazing all rolled up into one of the best thrillers of the year.

Just completed The Wife Between Us and am in awe! Absolutely the best book I've read all year. WOW!
The Wife Between Us is the story of a Vanessa and Richard, recently divorced, and Richard and Emma, now engaged. The reader is taken back and forth through time to discover how dysfunctional the marriage was, and to introduce characters who help clarify the some of the reasons for the problems Vanessa and Richard faced.
This book is a page-turner, and is somewhat reminiscent of The Girl on the Train. I highly recommend it to anyone willing to take the time to contemplate the characters, even after the book is closed. I loved it and would give it 7 stars if I could!

This is a great psychological thriller with so many twists and turns. It's so well written you are left wondering if the husband Richard with a wife and mistress is the bad guy or actually the victim.
It's so well written that you feel like you are there and that this could have been a true story. Could not put this book down! I recommend this book if you like scary thrillers!
Copy of this book was given by Betgalley and the publisher for a fair and honest review.

All the stars!!
It was the cover that first caught my eye. I loved it. And after reading the description for this novel, I couldn’t wait to read it.
As the book opens, a woman is unaware that someone is watching her. That someone is out to ruin her.
“She is oblivious to what I have done to her”
NELLIE can’t talk about the night that began with drinks and laughter, but ended with police and despair.
But now Nellie feels safe with Richard. He helps to keep the nightmares at bay. Richard is loving, caring, and protective. He has impeccable manners and seems to fit in anywhere and with anyone. Her friends and her mother wonder if he’s too good to be true….
“Her mother didn’t get it. Richard fixed everything. She’d be safe with him no matter where they lived”
But lately Nellie has been getting strange phone calls and sometimes it seems like she’s being followed. Richard tells her not to worry, but it’s starting to make her anxious.
Nellie had come to New York to escape.
She loves her job at The Learning Ladder. It’s where she met her best friend, Samantha. She enjoys working with preschoolers, although it can be hard dealing with their insufferable parents. They love to ask personal questions, like where she’s from. But Nellie is careful not to reveal too much about her past.
What happened to make her leave Florida? What is Nellie hiding?
Nellie doesn’t know very much about Richard’s ex. Just that they split up before he met Nellie. Richard really is the best thing that ever happened to Nellie.
“She’d always regret certain decisions in her life, but choosing Richard would never be one of them”
VANESSA is living at her aunt’s house. Morning is the worst time of the day because for a moment she can forget, but then reality comes crashing down around her. She imagines Richard and her replacement and what they are doing at that moment. Her aunt believes that Vanessa is the victim in all of this. But Vanessa wonders what her aunt would think if she knew the truth…if she knew what Vanessa had done.
She wonders if she’ll ever have peace….
“My regret is an open wound”
Vanessa now works as a sales associate at Saks. She waits on the wealthy women that she used to lunch with. Richard got the house, the cars, the money...everything. It’s like he wants to erase their relationship, to pretend like she never existed.
“I entered the marriage with nothing. I hadn’t worked. I hadn’t borne him children. I’d been deceitful. I hadn’t been a good wife”
It’s so easy to make assumptions. I was positive I knew what was going on but I was so wrong.
Like the book says…
“Assume nothing”
Who is telling the truth? Who can be trusted?
At first I found the beginning a little slow, but then I realized that the authors were trying to set the scene by giving some background. It wasn’t long before I was pulled into the story and the lives of these characters. I was so sure I knew were things were headed. I was in shock at the first twist, confused and thinking I read something wrong or missed a page. It was so unexpected ….but I loved it. I really appreciate when a story is able to blind side me like that.
“The Wife Between Us” is a twisted and complex psychological suspense novel. A story about marriage, friendship, betrayal, manipulation, obsession and more. A fast-paced and addictive novel that held my interest from start to finish. This story kept me on my toes guessing right up until the very end. I honestly can’t wait to read more from Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

A very unusual written story. The reader is in the mind of the story teller or so it seems. The characters are very real and the situations are true- taken from today's headlines!. As we all search or wish for a prince we need to be carful what we wish for!

This book kept me up too late, till I literally couldn't keep my eyes open any longer, then made me late to work the next day because I had to finish it. It's a difficult book to review because I don't want to give up even the smallest spoiler. Suffice it to say, it's a must-read, with twists and turns and unreliable narrators. You think you know what's going on, but you don't. Then you realize you've finally figured it out - and you haven't. Don't hesitate to borrow or buy this novel and spend all night reading it.

This thriller seems like the usual jealous wife story, but do not be deceived as it will keep you riveted until the final twist at the end.
Vanessa leads a fairly mundane life, but she has a deep dark secret. She meets Richard and her life changes. Her best friend Sam calls him her prince and Vanessa certainly feels like a princess the way that Richard treats her. But is it the fairy tale marriage that it appears to be. Slowly we are drawn into the obsession and deceit and why Vanessa finds it necessary to start a diary that she keeps hidden away. Then Emma becomes Richard's new assistant and the fairy tale marriage starts to fall apart. Vanessa appears to be the jealous wife, but there is so much more. When you come to almost the end of the book you feel like you have finally figured it all out, then comes the final twist. This is one of those thrillers that will certainly keep you guessing until the very last page. I thank the publishers and Netgalley for giving me an advance copy for my honest, unbiased review.

Don't have anything planned before you read this book, because you will not be able to put it down. So many twists and turns, you don't know who to believe. Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy.
