The description of this novel describes it as a psychological thriller. I would beg to differ, I have read plenty and this doesn’t cut the mustard. If there is any real psychology in it, it is the 101 version. There is no really in-depth analysis of any of the characters: it is all a bit fluffy.

So, the main protagonist, at the beginning of the novel, Amber, sets her sights on becoming the next Mrs Parish by deposing the present incumbent, Daphne. We learn from the very beginning that Amber is a manipulative liar, only interested in attaining wealth and status. We observe her attempts and eventual success in seducing Jackson Parish.

The second part of the novel is told from Daphne’s perspective and, for me, the content was unsurprising. It is pretty much telegraphed earlier in the novel but still, I guess, a useful twist.

The final twist is unnecessary and pretty artificial.

This novel adds nothing the genre of the psychological thriller. It was more chic lit with a hint of danger.

I received a complimentary copy of the book from NetGalley and publisher in exchange for an honest review. Thank you.

The Last Mrs Parrish is competently written and readable. However, I found it hard to like any of the characters enough to particularly care what happens to them and felt the plot wasn’t particularly original. Yes, there is a twist, but it isn’t hard to work out what it is. I can see it would make a good glossy movie, but as a psychological suspense novel it was sadly rather disappointing.

The Last Mrs Parrish was a thrilling, infuriating, glamorous and sad read. I really enjoyed this book, looking into the scary psyche of some of the characters minds was terrifying but great fun! Finding out “how the other half live” as well as realising that not everything is as it seems! I devoured this book and enjoyed reading it from the perspective of different characters! Would definitely recommend this to a friend.

I absolutely loved this book. I feel like I've been searching for a great, easy-reading thriller with a female protagonist since Gone Girl and after MUCH trial and error I think i finally found it in this. I really enjoyed the book from start to finish and couldn't wait to go back to reading it when I had a spare moment. I've already recommended it to a number of friends.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next one from Liv Constantine. She builds the characters in the book so very well and her storyline was perfectly mapped out.
I love it when an author manages to grip from the outset and hold you throughout the book with the same tension.
It is hard to say much more about the text without planting any spoilers, so I will just say that I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

A taut, exciting read. Reminded me a little of Elizabeth Haynes Into the Darkest Corner which is high praise in my book. Recommended.

Amber, born in poverty desperately wants a better life. In a calculated, obsessive manner she sets out how to achieve this by becoming accepted as a friend to Daphne who seems to have it all.
With meticulous precision Amber finds out everything about the family, learns about their life, their interests all in her quest to achieve her objective.
I didn’t think that I would enjoy the book as much as I did. Usually I like to feel empathy for the main character, but Amber is so deviously manipulative you wonder what evil scheming she will do next.
The story is told by two main characters – Amber at first, followed by Daphne, and it’s interesting looking at the story from two totally different perspectives. I found the story to be compelling and gripping as Daphne tells her story and everything falls into place. The book is a real page turner, and I couldn’t put it down.
Would recommend highly and am looking out for more of this author’s books.

Liv Constantine has managed to twist this book into so many different ways it will keep; you enthralled to the very end. Thoroughly enjoyed this and struggled to put it down. My seem to be a standard betrayal but just wait....

This book had me up until 4am this morning because I needed to know how things were going to turn out. The bags under my eyes are a small price to pay for such an exciting story. I really enjoyed the first part, all the vivid descriptions of a privileged life, despite the fact that I disliked Amber. The second part of the book was a stroke of genius and I was routing for Daphne all the way. The ending was incredibly satisfying. I like that the characters unfolded slowly so that we get glimpses of them but had to wait to have our thoughts confirmed i.e. Is Jackson the obsessive compulsive one in the family? Is Daphne's parenting of Bella just poor or is there something behind it? I'm going to be looking out for more by Liv Constantine - which incidentally blew me away that this book was a collaboration. Great work

A cracking psychological thriller that I thoroughly enjoyed. The characters are well developed and interesting and the twist in the tale is just fabulous!
Please don't spoil it by reading any reviews that give the twist away. It's an addictive read and one that I wouldn't wish spoiled for you! It's a good one.
Many thanks to Netgalley, Liv Constantine and HarperCollins publishers Ltd for the opportunity to review this book in return for this honest review.

Utterly Riveting

This is one of those books. The ones that should come with a warning, once you enter its pages it is very very difficult to leave them. I found myself itching to get back to it and rolling my eyes when anything or anyone interrupted.

The narratives of the key characters are fascinating, literally allowing them to leap off the page and appear before your very eyes!

I have recommended this book to everyone I know and can't wait for more from this impressive duo of Authors. So good it is hard to believe it is a debut!

Thank you so much to the Publisher and to NetGalley for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review, highly recommended.

Some characters in books make you feel nothing, not this book. Characters here to really hate and characters to feel for. Good readable story that held my attention. Well worth a read.

Good read, I kind of guessed the plot twist fairly quickly but it was revealed with enough twists in the tale to keep it interesting - would recommend!

The Last Mrs Parrish is narrated by two women – heartless, manipulative Amber who will stop at nothing to become the next Mrs Parrish, and her nemesis Daphne, who would appear to lead the perfect life with her doting billionaire husband, her palatial Connecticut mansion and her two beautiful children.

I must admit I thought the first half of the story, which is narrated by Amber, was an enjoyable but run of the mill piece of female fiction as the conniving little madam sets out to steal Daphne’s husband and her life (and to all intents and purposes she is well on the way to achieving all she has set out to do quite easily) but then suddenly, halfway through, the narrative is taken over by Daphne Parrish and everything clicks into place, the book comes into full multi-faceted 3-D focus. We find out what has really been happening behind the scenes; we have a heroine we can really root for in Daphne and can look forward with relish to the hateful Amber getting the unhappy ending she so richly deserves.

All in all a great piece of escapist melodrama.

What an amazing debut novel. This psychological thriller is one of the best I have read in a long time, with a twist in the tale which really does come as a huge surprise. "We really never know what goes on behind closed doors" and "be careful what you wish for" are two ideal phrases to describe this novel. Looking forward to the next one..

The last Mrs Parrish is a great psychological thriller that I absolutely loved.
The book is based around three characters, Daphne Parrish married to Jackson Parrish, Daphne has it all, the big house, 2 beautiful daughters, house staff and as much money as she wants and married to Jackson the successful businessman who adores his wife more than anything or anyone or does he?????
We start off this book with Amber the third character in this story, the home wrecker, liar and to be honest complete bitch. The first half of this book is told from Ambers viewpoint and I was totally into this and then halfway the book is told from Daphne's viewpoint which to be honest when that happened I did spend the next chapter feeling that this book was going to go downhill but I was so wrong! I think I felt like this because the writing was so good I was completely into how Amber was going to complete her takeover but then Daphne's side came in and although after a couple of chapters I knew what was going to happen I was totally with her. Jackson was a complete s**t from start to finish and hope I never meet anyone like him. The ending was a really good wrap up of every question you were left with and is definitely up at the top of the books I have read this year. I will look out for other books by Liv Constantine in the future because if this is her debut I can't wait to see what else she has in store for us!!
I would like to thank Netgalley and HarperCollins Uk for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.

This book was so very easy to read and though I saw the twist a mile off, it did not make it any less satisfying.
Some of the characters were abhorrent but others, really likeable and the writing flowed smoothly, making for an enjoyable storyline and plot.
I will read more from this author.

Thanks to Net Galley & Harper Collins for an ARC of this book in exchange for a review. What a great read. Hooked from page one.
Could anyone be more manipulative than Amber? She has set her sights on the handsome rich Mr Jackson Parrish & she will stop at nothing until she has what she wants. This is a story of greed, envy and manipulation at its best.
Is Jackson Parrish as charming as he seems though and are him & Daphne really the golden happy couple they play for their friends?
Amber has made Daphne her friend, this book takes a big twist half way through & gets better as the story goes on and the reader learns that there is more than one manipulator.
This is a psychological thriller at its best. Brilliant read. 5 stars.

What a fantastic debut, absolutely gripping. The writing is so clever, intertwining the characters, making them realistic and drawing you into a cunning plot. With so many twists and turns when you've finished you feel you've been in a hurricane.

Thank you Netgalley, Hapercollins and Liv Constantine for allowing me to read and review this book.
