I've enjoyed all the Lockwood books so far and this preview was as enthralling as you'd expect. Looking forward to reading it all.

This first chapter was absolutely gorgeous. I´m so excited to read more of Lockwood and Co, sadly it was just the first chapter :( I will definitely get the book as soon as it is out. Can't wait for it.

A great insight into the beginnings of the final chapter! Stroud nails it every time!

I was delighted to read this & later the whole book, when I met Stroud in Edinburgh. He's a genius and EMPTY GRAVE is one of his best yet.

I love these books and will be sorry to finish this one as it's the last in the series. A spooky, interesting, enjoyable first chapter left me wanting more and waiting in anticipation. Who will survive and who won't? Can't wait!

When describing this series to young customers I usually describe it as a ghost busting team of children with superpowers to get rid of ghosts, full of witty banter.

The witty banter in this chapter sampler, as in the rest of the series, occurs between the children . However since the last book I had forgotten about the skull in the glass jar who makes the sort of wry, sarcastic observations that Bartimaeus made (in the Bartimaeus series by Stroud.

There are scary moments and laugh out loud moments. I can't wait to read more...

I love this series and I've been EXCITED for this book! The cover is BEAUTiful, I'm just sad it;s the last in the series! I downloaded it as soon as I saw it on up on here, opened it up to read on my train journey, finished the first chapter and then died a little inside because i couldn't read on! It was so gripping, it was so of the series, i just need to finish this book!

Though only a chapter sampler, it was enough to make me want to read the rest. I've already read and loved the other books in the series. Jonathan Stroud is a brilliant writer -he really draws you straight into the book with his fantastic characters and spook storylines.

Although this was only the sample of the first chapter of the 5th and final Lockwood and Co. series, it left me wanting more!

The story starts with the gang trying to find the entrance to the tomb of the late Marissa Fittes, the first and greatest psychic investigator and founder of the Fittes Agency.

But rumour has it that she isn't dead, but is alive and well and pretending to be her supposed grand-daughter, Penelope Fittes. The same Penelope Fittes who is head of the Fittes Agency and probably the most powerful person in London.

Lockwood & Co. are about to find out if it is true or not...

The Lockwood & Co series are a spooky, fun filled series...and not to be missed.

The book opens with intrigue and mystery, with characters that are established, so those familiar with the series will be hooked immediately. It develops well with the pace, enough to take the reader on the journey with the characters. It's an ideal read for young teens as it has the dynamic of characters and humour to match. Definitely recommended as a read.

Oh no, I've done it again...read the opening chapter to a much-awaited book and now desperately awaiting my pre-ordered copy!
Jonathan Stroud has done it again. Hints at chaos and devastation following Lockwood and Co around, the return of some familiar faces and a tantalising hint of something delicious to come...September seems a long way off.

Of all the seasons I have always loved the autumn best of all. I like the cooler air, lengthening evenings and the turning of the leaves on the trees to delicious warm colours. And for a good few years there has been another reason why I look forward to autumn time, THE NEW LOCKWOOD & CO BOOK!!! Ever since I read The Screaming Staircase in 2013 I have been hooked. I love the quirky mix of old fashioned mystery and chills and humour, and the characters, particularly the three main ones of Lucy, George and Lockwood himself, are all fantastic. These books are so well plotted you don't feel that you are reading what is billed as a children's book. I am so excited to have read the first chapter of this new instalment (and it isn't even autumn yet) and I cannot wait to read the whole book.
