This was an uneven anthology of works on the "Holy Land." It does have quite a bit of breadth, covering wide range of regions and peoples. Some sections were non-fiction, some poetry, some more literary. All of these I generally enjoyed, although the works were of uneven quality. Generally, in spite of their short length, these sections were all interesting and drew me into their brief narratives.

What drug the book down for me were mostly the series of travel directions. Take this street and follow it until the electrical wires all connect. Bring some water, and leave your cell phone because you won't get any reception. These chapters just kinda dragged down the work, which I probably would've have given four stars otherwise.

I recieved a copy of this work from NetGalley.
