I note that this book is loved by many, but it was not one for me this time…. Just not to my taste, so skimmed it in the end

This wasn’t the book for me. It wasn’t what I hoped. Not what I expected. I couldn’t give it a chance. It’s not something I would read

An incredible strong and moving story that may well make you cry.
Jemma and Braxton are childhood sweethearts which have a lovely fusional relationship. Unfortunately, soon after their wedding, Jemma has a grave accident and looses her memory. When she wakes up, Braxton is a complete stranger to her, and she has a hard time trusting him. He handles the situation beautifully, patiently, and decides to write letters to Jemma, retelling their story in a poignant way.
The topics of loss, trauma, amnesia were especially well written. One could really feel compassion for Braxton and Jemma, one would cheer for them, hope they would both have a happy ending after such a trauma. I hurt and rejoiced with the characters during the upheavals and downheavals of their story and really dived into their story alongside them, which was slightly emotionally exhausting! But really, a very nice reading. I will certainly read this book again!

This was a beautifully written book that made me feel sad, and happy. Loved this book and so glad that I was able to pick this up.

Nineteen Letters was a kind of really sweet second chance romance. It showed the depth of love and devotion that is possible and just how far someone will go for their love of their life. Braxton and Jemma faced huge hurdles but one thing that never wavered was Braxton's love and devotion. While I didn't quite the deep ranging emotions I was expecting, it was a still a sweet (if at times too sweet) love story that proves true love exists.

This book was absolutely fantastic - so much so that I can’t think of a single criticism. I can certainly see why this won the Australian romance book of the year in 2018!

This is the story of the newly wed Braxton and Jemma, who sadly are torn apart following an accident just nineteen days after their wedding. The number nineteen will have great significance in a thread running throughout the book. Braxton realises that as Jemma loses her memory he needs to try and remind her of all that they have shared over their nineteen years together. There follows a series of letters that he lovingly writes to Jemma to try and remind her of who they are together as a couple, and Jemma is slowly won over. The story is emotive, heartfelt, deep, thought-provoking... everything you could want in a romance such as this. It is not often that romance novels make me feel all that much emotion, but Jodi Perry has certainly achieved it here. A simply fantastic book.

It is not my usual genre, but Netgalley sent me an email with the book to read it straight away. I started it and I did not regret is at all. I reallly liked the whole book and there were some ups and downs with really heartbreaking moments. On the other hand, there were many happy times.

The other thing I really liked it is the importance of the number 19.

I would reccomend it for everyone who loves romantic novels.

Have you ever been reading a book and think to yourself how the hell did I end up reading this? This is not my sort of book at all. I'm more of a murder mystery, police procedural type of girl. I haven't read a full-on romance since....well I don't know but Bush was probably still president. Bush Snr that is. So I was in foreign territory. I approached with caution and a determination not to raise an eyebrow or scoff at any point. And for the most part, I succeeded. I didn't scoff once....my eyebrows did get a little exercise though!

Nineteen Letters tells the story of Braxton and Jemma, the quintessential childhood sweethearts. From the moment get meet they are dedicated to each other first as friends, eventually as lovers and then as man and wife. But nineteen days after their marriage Jemma is in a car accident that leaves her badly injured and with absolutely no memory of anything. Braxton is a stranger to her. Unable to reach her directly Braxton writes her letters detailing their friendship and romance in a bid to remind her how much they love each other.

So first the eyebrows. Whilst it's a lovely heartwarming story I struggled to suspend my disbelief at just how perfect Braxton is. He constantly rescues Jemma, builds her a dream home, never so much as glanced at another woman. He's a flippin' saint. One with the body of Chris Hemsworth! Apart from a few minor jealousy fuelled hissy fits he never puts a foot wrong. The eyebrow wiggler in me became convinced he was taking the opportunity to rewrite history. But then I'm a cynical old biddy so I can't help that. So, if you've got this far you might be surprised to hear I really enjoyed this. Despite my cynicism, I couldn't help but root for a happy ending. Even as my inner cynic tried to persuade me into an eye roll I became completely invested in their story. For me, it took me back to being a teenager and reading Sweet Dreams novels, in that its unashamedly romantic and even in its saddest moments it a feel good reading experience. A highly enjoyable, so sweet you'll need a root canal, excellent read.

Omg why didn’t I read this book sooner ! I’ve had it stored on my kindle and finally got round to reading it and it’s absolutely amazing. A beautiful, stunning love story that has had me gripped from the beginning. I’ve been going around recommending this book to every book lover I know. The story of Jemma and Braxton- a married couple, who were childhood sweethearts and who absolutely adore each other. Then one fateful morning on her way to work, Jemma is involved in a horrendous car crash. When she finally awakes in hospital she has no memory and doesn’t remember anyone. Absolutely heart broken and desperate to get his soul mate back, braxton starts to write Jemma letters detailing the journey of their love story.
For any lover of Nicholas sparks this book is beautiful and tugs at the heart strings. I couldn’t put it down and became so imensed in Jemma and Braxtons story, I didn’t want the letters to stop. Definitely a book I will read over again and one I could see being made into a film. If you buy one book this year make sure it’s this one, I defy anyone not to love it as much as I do.

This is a story which will leave you with a lump in your throat on more than one occasion if you are anything like me. It isn’t one for those who like action, it’s more for those who want romance in their lives. It’s a reminder to everyone to keep those you love close and remember the good times.

what a stunning love story, broke my heart reading it - such a beautiful story and heart wrenching. Even after finishing the book, the story stayed with me - not many books have this effect. Highly recommended if you want to read a book full of emotion and depth.

This was an interesting read. I’ll admit that I’m not one for romance novels, unless they’re tied up with an adventure story or some kind of other main plotline.
So with that in mind, I decided to take a chance on Jodi Perry’s Nineteen Letters. And I’m glad I did. The story is sweet, unusual and with two very likeable main characters that makes it easy to root for them.
The twist is that they’re already in love. Braxton and Jemma have been married for years- and are about to start a family- when Jemma’s injured in a car accident that steals her memory. Completely: she can’t remember who her parents are, and she can’t remember Brax. So begins his quest to get her back- and our journey through a relationship that started when they were children.
One thing I did like about Jodi Perry’s style of writing is that it’s so immersive: whatever you describe, you really feel like you’re there with her, alongside the characters, whether they’re children or you’re on the beach in Australia. I also really liked the way the story is set out: you get Brax and Jemma’s slowly-developing relationship in the present day, juxtaposed with Brax’s letters that take Jemma through their shared past, from school to the present day. It’s really engaging, and you get both sides of the story, which gives you, in all, a lot of feels. Will they get together? Will they not? Will Jemma ever get her memory back?
The characters themselves are great, too: I really loved watching Brax and Jemma get to know each other again in the present day, especially as, like Jemma, we’re learning about them as we go along. We also get some lovely subplots in the shape of Jemma’s parents, who have split up with each other for reasons unknown- and whom she determines to get together again. The only problem for me was the character of Brax: he’s totally devoted to Jemma, which is very sweet, but sometimes all that sweetness all builds up into some clunky writing, some awkward moments and some extremely saccharine phrases that made me cringe, a lot.
But that’s a by-the-by. Overall, this book hooked me in and by the end I was just about as invested in Brax and Jemma getting together as I was in any of my favourite books (Far from the Madding Crowd, Harry Potter…) For people looking for a romance that offers something different, this is for you.

Nineteen Letters by Jodi Perry is a most beautiful contemporary love story that envelopes the reader causing their heart to swell.
Beautifully written, Nineteen Minutes is about love and loss. What would you do if you woke from an accident with no memory at all? Family have become strangers. Do you "wallow in self pity or... start to live again"?
How would you feel if the love of your life no longer knew you? ""I feel so lost... We're both drowning." Do you give up or try to rebuild the future?
Nineteen Letters deals with both a recovering coma patient and a parent with Alzheimer's. The latter is slipping slowly away. The former has no previous memories. It is a bittersweet read that tugs at the heartstrings.
Nineteen letters are written in the hope of relighting memories. The letters are beautiful and poignant telling the story of how friends became husband and wife. It is a totally beautiful tale. Highly amusing at times. Terribly sad at others.
This is a tale of a love that never gives up. A love that perseveres. A love as seen in 1 Corinthians 13, even though it is not a Christian novel. This is a sacrificial love. The love and hope that never dies. "The hope I'm carrying around inside me is burning so bright."
I will leave you with this recurring phrase that encapsulates the whole novel:
"What we had is far too beautiful to be forgotten."
I received this book for free from Net Galley. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.

What a beautiful, emotion charged read.. Braxton Spencer is made to fall in love with, and he and Jemma are just made for each other. Pre-destined from they were little children and they were kindred spirits who hit it off on first meeting. Nineteen is their lucky number. The date they met way back when, the date they got married...... and the number of days married when Jem has her accident and forgets who Brax is. Can he win back her love? How scary must it be. We learn all about their lives together from the very first day as children through the nineteen beautiful letters Braxton writes to Jemma to introduce her to her life and the people in it. What a beautifully sensitive way to go about it, and what a gem of a man. We will them together. We cry through Jemma's frustration, pain and fear and we anguish with Brax as he pulls back to allow her space and time. The book could be too saccharin sweet, but it doesn't work that way, it just works. I won't spoil the ending, but it took me a few days to get over the emotion. A real winner, thank you for the opportunity to read and share my love for this book.

Nineteen Letters by Jodi Perry is an absolutely beautiful novel! Jemma and Braxton make a sweet couple and Braxton is kind loving honest and loyal.

I really identified with the kind of love they shared as I am lucky to have the same with the love of my life. I have never been able to identify so much with a book on that score.

I could not stop telling him about the parts of the book that I thought were very close to, or mirrored our life, relationship and love for each other. Namely, these were how Braxton never left Jemma's side even despite lots of adversity, and how they were always in each others thoughts and hearts at the times when they weren't together through circumstances. It was in how Jemma and Braxton were always each others "Number One," the most important thing in life. We both agree it is a very romantic book!

The strength of Braxton and Jemma's relationship is what shines through in this book. It's in how they fight for each other and seek one another out through Braxton's 19 letters to Jemma. The wait between letters was hard for me, the plot was always engaging and I loved every word. However, the letters were something else. They showed me background and experiences as well as powerful memories.

Jodi Perry effortlessly and accurately shows how love really can last if you fight hard enough for it, and that there is a "perfect someone" for everybody.

All the characters are so real and likeable. Braxton's dad was very well portrayed too.

Nineteen Letters is amazing and faultless. Because of this, it deserves a glittering 5 stars! I want to read more by Jodi Perry, and will be rereading this infinite times. It has everything that makes it a stellar novel for me- romance, drama struggles and determination to be with the one you love through anything.

Thanks to Jodi Perry and Little Brown Book Group UK (Sphere) for my ARC in exchange for an honest and voluntary revoew.

A definite 5* review for Nineteen Letters by Jodi Perry, which i read via a Netgalley read and review on my kindle.

Synopsis
"Nineteen. There’s something about that number; it not only brought us together, bonding us forever, it also played a hand in tearing us apart. Nineteen days after we married, Jemma was in an accident that would change our lives forever. When she woke from her coma, she had no memory of me, Braxton, her husband, of us, of the love we shared."

Review
Oh my goodness, I finished this at 1.15 this morning, there was no way I was going to get to sleep until I read the final letter from Braxton and it's consequences, and I ended up with a stupid grin on my face and tears pouring down my cheeks! Don't try to tell me it's only a story in a book because I was there with Braxton and Jemma every step of the way and I went through every single emotion with them from the highs to the lows and everything in between.

The story is about Braxton and Jemma, childhood sweethearts from when she moved in next door with her family when they were 7 and 6 respectively, and then grew up together, fell in love and married, but did not get their happy ever after. Fate had a cruel twist and test for them first.

However, Braxton starts to write Jemma letters, stories of their whole life and everything they had gone through together, together with little charms such as a bike, a car, a house, to make up a memory bracelet for her to help her get her memory back and remember their life together. He ended each of the 19 letters with the words "What we had was far too beautiful to be forgotten". I mean how beautiful and poetic is that! Everyone deserves a Braxton to write them old fashioned love letters to remind us of how wonderful things were when we first met, fell in love, bought a home, planned a wedding and a family with the person we love more than anyone else in the world and who brighten your day and your life.

I finished this book last night, but it was so well written that I feel I know Braxton and Jemma and am now wondering how their story continues (Jodi Perry, please write a sequel or make this into a movie for us). This story moved me in a way I was not expecting, largely down to the beautiful writing of the characters, making Braxton seem strong, loyal, loving and understanding, rather than the desperate weakling he could have been written as, and Jemma was a sad lost soul who needs the loving and patient care only Braxton can provide, and you warm to her despite her coldness at first.

The side stories of Jemma's parents and Grandparents and Braxton's dad add a richness to the story too and the descriptions of the beach house, with breakfast on the wraparound balcony and the sound of the sea just made me want to be there with them all for the weekend.

I will be looking out for more from this new-to-me Author.

Memory loss stories have been done time and time again, but I have to admit that Jodi Perry really got the water works motoring in this one. Yes, it is predictable, yes it is a little cheesy, but I still loved it. My heart was decimated for the majority of this book, our hero was one heck of an amazing character and the love and loyalty he had to his wife was incredible and limitless.

I loved the premise of the nineteen letters and loved that other than the memory loss, the rest of the book was drama free. This book was all about two people who had loved each other completely, dealing with the hand they had been dealt and falling in love all over again.

Braxton will be the envy of many housewives, he truly was a fantastic character and it was his endless support, love and patience that made this book what it was.

"If I loved him as much as everyone says I did, wouldn’t my heart still feel it?"

What would you do if the love of your life can no longer remember who you are or anything about the nineteen years you have been a part of each others lives? That is the dilemma that Braxton Spencer finds himself in when his wife of nineteen days Jemma is involved in a serious car crash and wakes up with amnesia.

From the moment of the car crash I knew that this story was either going to make me cry tears of sadness or tears of joy, the pain that Braxton feels when Jemma wakes up and can no longer remember him, her parents or anything about their life together was oozing from the page. I cannot even begin to imagine what that feeling must be like other than having seen friends experience similar feelings of pain and frustration with parents who have dementia which Braxton was also having to deal with with his own father.

The concept of the letters talking about the pivotal moments of their lives they have spent together was simply beautiful, from the memory of the day Jemma and her family moved next door, birthdays, proms, first kiss to their wedding day. I loved the way that Braxton respected how scared Jemma must be feeling so he did not push her into remembering everything too quickly, instead each letter, each gift was so thoughtful in the hope that one day some memory may be triggered on its own.

Told in a dual narrative we get to see how both Braxton and Jemma are coping with the situation they are in. Both were feeling lost for different reasons, Braxton because he is now a stranger to the woman he loves, and Jemma because she doesn't know who she is anymore let alone these strangers who visit her daily.

Nineteen Letters was a beautiful love story from start to finish, a story of hope and new beginnings. From the moment I started reading I was lost, willing them both to find their forever love again whether it be with old memories or a chance to create new memories together. Jodi Perry was a new author to me as I've not read any of her young adult novels published as J L Perry but if this is the calibre of her writing then I for one cannot wait to read whatever she has in store for us next.

There’s something very significant about the number nineteen in Braxton Spencer’s life. On the nineteenth of January 1996, Jemma moves in next door. She was six, he was seven. They developed a fierce friendship and spent practically every moment together.

Nineteen years to the day later and they become Mr and Mrs Spencer. But nineteen days after marrying tragedy strikes. An accident leaving Jemma in a coma. But when she wakes up she has no memories of Braxton or the past nineteen years.

Heartbroken, Braxton begins to write her letters about their past, hoping they will help her remember. He writes nineteen letters.

This book is beautifully written. I found myself drawn in to this gorgeous story of friendship, hope and love.

A fabulous five star book and I look forward to reading more from his author.

Thank you to NetGalley, Little, Brown Book Group and the author for the chance to review.
