This trilogy is so much fun and now an annual re-read for me that I share with my young niece and nephew who think they are equally as fun! We need more good Christmas stories!

A fantastic tale for younger students (under 8) to have read to them, or for older (8+) to curl up in the book corner and get lost in.

Matt Haig did it again! Another fabulous Christmas story from him! I absolutely loved Father Christmas And Me!
Amelia Wishart lives now in Elfhelm with Father Christmas and Mary, also known as Mother Christmas. You'd think life should be perfect for Amelia but it so not. Problem is Amelia is just too... human. Fitting in in the elves world is harder than you'd think. And being human she's also full of self doubt and constantly questions her place in that magical place. She just can't believe that she belongs.
It's not just Amelia who's troubled. Father Vodol is not a happy elf and he really really doesn't like Father Christmas and humans in general. He enlists help of Easter Bunny and his rabbit army to try and overthrow Father Christmas and take charge of Elfhelm again.
Father Christmas And Me is a gorgeous story conveying the true meaning of Christmas. It's not about the presents; its true magic lies in kindness of heart and generosity of spirit.
Beautifully written, fast paced with great plot and stunning illustrations Father Christmas And Me is not to be missed. And if you haven't read previous Christmas stories from Matt Haig please do. They're just brilliant. Magical, heartfelt, truly Christmassy.

Brilliant! Loved this book. Absolutely adore Matt Haig, for both kids and adults books.

So disappointed that this was provided as a PDF. It means that I can't read on my kindle (which is what I mostly do while commuting) and when I've gone to read this today (as I like to read Christmas books near Christmas) the "loan has expired" and so I can't even read it :(

Matt Haig does it again - this is a feel good Christmas classic that will become something I read every year. Following on from A Boy Called Christmas and The Girl Who Saved Christmas, Father Christmas and Me has just as much humour, fun, and heart. The writing is such that you don't notice the pages flying by, and I think both adults and children will find themselves thinking about the sneaky wisdom in Haig's words, long after the book is finished. Brilliant.

This is a delightful book! If you are struggling to get into the festive mood, or indeed just generally having a bad time of it, Father Christmas and Me will provide some magic in your life.

Another wonderfully charming Christmas book from Matt Haig. I absolutely adore his writing, his books aimed at a younger reader put me in mind of Sir Terry Pratchett, written with humour & no patronisation. I don’t know where this will leave the Father Christmas story, but I hope that there will be more to come as Matt Haig has now written two of my favourite books of the year (How to Stop Time is an utter masterpiece)

Amelia lives in Elfhelm with Father Christmas and Mary. It's not easy having to learn Elf lessons at school when you have no magic and think 2 plus 2 is 4 when everyone else knows the answer is snow. At least she knows how to fly a sleigh, thought that doesn't necessarily do her any good. Amelia was brought to to the home of the elves after saving Christmas once, now it's up to her to do it again.
I enjoyed the descriptions of Elfhelm, with shops like Clogs! Clogs! Clogs! and the Bank of Chocolate. A good book for reading to smaller children, especially at Christmas. I found it a bit slow moving for myself, though it did pick up around halfway through.

I enjoyed this book. I read it very easily and quickly. An enjoyable read for upper key stage two.

My daughter and I loved this book although only read the first 4 chapters as she wants to read the rest at christmas so wants father christmas to bring her the book. We loved the characters and how it was written it really connected with her. Although she found the main characters back story sad so were going to get that as well and read them in order.

Father Christmas and me
Matt Haig
‘Father Christmas and Me’ is the third in a series of books that chart the story not only of Father Christmas but also of the girl who saved Christmas.
If you haven’t read the previous two you should remedy that at once. Treat yourself or the children in your life to three beautifully presented hardback books with gorgeous illustrations by Chris Mould that firmly fix the characters in your head. These stories take us back, not in a preachy way to the true meaning of Christmas and the sentiments around it.
Assuming you are up to speed let us go to Amelia who now lives with Father and Mary Christmas at the North pole in Elfhelm. She should be very happy. She has a stable family and is surrounded by love. But she is an outsider-so obviously not elf sized and with none of the skills and qualities they possess. To make it worse the editor of the new newspaper, Father Vodol, which is being surreptitiously published is writing hateful articles against her. He manages to drum up mistrust and fear of outsiders in the community. Amelia must overcome her own fear as she faces down not only Father Vodol but, even worse, a very disturbed Easter Bunny.
Not only a heart-warming tale about Christmas, ‘Father Christmas and Me’ is an object lesson in tolerance and understanding. This is no soft soap for kids, it has real dilemmas, fear and even self-loathing wrapped up in chocolate coins. It also has a fast plot with lots of fun thing happening which makes it a great book to read out loud to younger children. There are many elements of Christmas included so ingrained in our culture and new fascinating facts including that Father Christmas is paid in chocolate coins, but he takes a very small salary!
I think this series has become an instant classic and once again this is the gift of choice for any children you can find-no matter how old. I’ve really enjoyed the three books and they have become part of the Christmas tradition alongside mulled wine and partially eaten carrots. (It’s Rudolph, he never finishes his snacks.)

There's a lot to love about this book, but it's certainly not the best one of the three, and cannot get to the heights of the middle volume. Here we just begin with too much that isn't particularly necessary - and it's not a humorous diversion either - when we see all the differences between Amelia's world and the one of Father Christmas and the elves, as she is forced to go to Elf School. Yes, hidden in that are the relevant bits - and they get increasingly more glaring that they're the relevant bits, so when the story calls back to them then you can see it coming a long way off; but they didn't have to be swimming in too much meh. Still, there is also a lot to like - the adventure that comes almost to be a parallel to early Artemis Fowl books, and the sheer hefty and lovely spirit of it all. That in the end comes at you in lovable spades, so the book has to be commended. It could also have been a fair bit shorter and wittier early on.

I didn’t realise when I read Father Christmas and Me that it was the final part in a trilogy, which does mean that although starting at the beginning is best, it can be read as a standalone too.

The book is filled with magic and goodness, but also a reminder of how bad some people can be, and how fake news can travel fast, causing lots of people pain and heartache.

Amelia is a lovely little girl who through no fault of her own, has had an awful childhood. That was until Father Christmas saved her. She isn’t completely happy in Elfhelm and still doesn’t feel like she fits in perfectly, as she has to attend elf school, where she is taller than all the other children, and the adults too. Plus Elf school work isn’t like human school work, so she doesn’t feel as clever as all her elf classmates.

What I like about Matt Haig’s books is how he can make you become emotionally attached to his characters, whilst entertaining you with his superb stories. He sprinkles a little bit of magic onto each page and has children excited to read and use their imaginations, in an age where it often feels like technology has taken over and books are being left behind.

This is an exciting, adventurous book that is a little bit zany, but is a whole lot of fun. It includes lots of amusing illustrations by Chris Mould. Plus you also get to discover why you receive chocolate eggs at Easter too!

Oh I loved this book so much! So good to meet the characters that I've enjoyed from the first two books again,a lovely, jolly book that definitely got me in the Christmas spirit. Would be a fab read aloud book to share with children and I will definitely read this again when it is actually the festive season! Would make a wonderful present for any small people on your gift list.

A great finale to a lovely trilogy. I thoroughly recommend reading all three books. It's made me feel festive already.
Some really important life lessons wrapped in the magical words that tell the story of Elfhelm and Father Christmas.

Only read about 20%, wasn’t enjoying it very much or finding it as magical as the other two.
