An chick-lit rom-com style book. Pulls you in front the start of the story. An easy read, perfect to take on holiday. Its the first in a series of books. Well worth reading

I Heart New York is a fun, lighthearted read with plenty of ups and downs. Kelk’s quirky writing style is entertaining and engaging and no girlie drama is left untold. After a heartbreaking experience at her friend’s wedding, Angela Clark jumps on a plane to New York as a knee-jerk reaction. Finding herself in the Big Apple, isn’t without its problems, but there’s a wealthy banker and handsome hipster on hand to cheer her up.

I Heart New York is the first book in a hit series that I’d recommend for ‘chicklit’ lovers. It’s escapism at its best.

I did not expect to love this, and yet I found a story that was gripping, not entirely predictable, with a good dose of heart and humour. It’s not laugh out loud, but it will bring a smile to your face. Great writing, great story and I’ve genuinely gone out and bought the next 5 books in the series based upon this read. A great no-stress book to devour - perfect summer read.

A lightweight, frothy read, rather sugar coated, life really isn’t quite like this! But it does have a feel good factor and it does give some of the essence of New York

Lindsey Kelk has wrote three books in the I Heart series
I heart New York,
I heart Hollywood
and I heart Paris.

If you have read my previous reviews you will know I was unaware of this as I read the I heart Paris which is the last book first and only once I started reading this book did I fall in that there were previous books.

I thoroughly enjoyed the last book and so I decided to go back and read the first one I Heart New York which I managed to find in the Library.

All of the I heart books look pretty much the same on the front cover with the big I Heart Title on the front and also the bright girly chick lit look to them.

Angela Clark has a life changing moment when she finds her boyfriend Mark with another woman in the back of their car at their bestfriends wedding. To make matters worse her bestfriends knew about it and after her relationship is clearly over and the wedding ruined with a groom with a broken hand Angela decides she needs to get away and flies for the first time to New York!!!

Through the rest of the book we watch Angela pick herself up from the disaster with the help of new friend Jenny and begin to make a life for herself writing for "The look" a blog about her days in New York and she also starts dating again. Only thing she doesn't know for sure is is this still a vacation or is this her new life, choices have to be made.

I enjoyed this book just as much as the last one. I was surprised that I seemed to warm to Angela's character more in the last book. I did not find this predictable which I have found so much in the recent Chick-lit books I have been reading.

The story line has you gripped as I think most girls can relate to the way Angela feels even if we didn't run off to another part of the world! The one character I changed my opinion of in this book was Angela's best friend Louisa who in the last book I felt quite sorry for her losing her best friend and also having her wedding ruined but after now reading the books in order I am surprised that they are still friends as it turns out in the beginning of this first book Louisa actually knew about Angela's boyfriend Mark having an affair!!

The ending of the book is left wanting more and is clearly left open for another book. I can not wait to read the next one I heart Hollywood.
I would recommend anyone who enjoys a light, warm, easy chick-lit read to read this book. Although I had read the books the wrong way around I don't feel that it ruined the story line in anyway.

I love this series! This isn't my favourite book ever in the series but I still loved being in Angela's head (I mean who doesn't) New York is my favourite city ever and I feel like Lindsey Kelk really absorbed the city's wonderfulness into Angela's story

Lindsey Kelk is definitely one of my favourite authors.

At her best friends wedding, Angela, catches her long term boyfriend Mark cheating on her with someone on the back seat of their car. So she does the first she can think of... she flees not just the wedding but the country. Angela ends up in New York, with no friends, no money and no job. But she soon makes friends with Jenny who is determined to put a smile back on Angela’s face. While in New York she lands her dream job as a writer and it seems that everything finally is going right for her at last.

This book is a really fun, witty, girly read. I loved Lindsey’s description of New York. I finished this fairly quickly because it’s fast paced, and an easy read. The ending of this book left me wanting to dive straight into the second book.

I received a copy of this book via Netgalley in return for an honest and fair review. Thank You

What would you do if you found your boyfriend cheating on you? Would you run off to New York? No me neither but that is exactly what Angela Clarke does when she finds her boyfriend in a compromising position.

I Heart New York follows Angie on finding herself, new friends, dating and her many shopping trips. I laughed a lot at some of the things she and her new friends got up to and think everyone needs a Jenny in their lives, she is a great agony aunt and is even there to hold your hair whilst you throw up from drinking too much.

I loved this book from start to finish and can't wait to read the rest of the series and see what else lies in store for Angie and the rest of her gang.

You know I keep wanting to love these books, but there is something just evading me. I do enjoy how Kelk chooses a city to embody as character against the backdrop of inevitable romance, but the voice in this tale kept me at arm's length and I wasn't pulled in.

That being said, I appreciate the dazzling worlds she creates and her obvious passion for the places she writes about. You do feel like you are back in Manhattan, roaming the streets and seeing them fresh.

I liked the style of writing and the characters. This is the first book in a series and I will definitely look out for more.

I first read I heart New York at a time when I really wanted to do exactly what Angela did... run away to another country and start all over again. Instead, I lived vicariously through Angela as I read her tale as she adjusted to New York life. Lindsey Kelk created such incredible characters who were easy to relate to for one reason or another. Their lives were full of excitement and chaos and were completely believable which helps you relate to them. As a reader, I couldn't help but get drawn in to the adventures Angela and Jenny encountered. We definitely all need a Jenny in our lives!! I absolutely adored I heart New York and have been hooked for the rest of the series. The thought that one day there won't be another I heart book from Lindsey Kelk just doesn't bare thinking about.

Perhaps it's because I'm reading the seventh book in a series but I found it hard to completely love this book. Somewhere in between really like, and love would be the closet I could come.
Angela is a little cliched and too trusting for her own good and, to be honest, this readers liking, but I was quite happy with how things worked out for her.
I shall be reading more from this author as she has intrigued me.

I was incredibly excited to receive a free copy of I Heart New York by Lindsey Kelk. As an avid chick-lit reader, it was amazing that I had never come across the I Heart Series before. I was enthralled to read the first installment of the adventures of stiletto wielding, wise-cracking Angie and her energetic, highly strung but ever so stylish best friend Jenny. I loved the scenes in New York and how she quickly goes from the depths of despair in England to the adventurous life of a single girl in a big city. After reading the book, I quickly bought the next few books and inhaled them as well! I am really looking forward to reading the final book in the series I Heart Forever....

This book is the perfect holiday book! It’s an easy read but at the same time, you can’t put it down! It’s a fun, laugh out loud book, a little unbelievable at times but never the less a really good story line!

I enjoyed this book, it was a quick read that didn’t require too much thought, perfect for holidays. I absolutely love New York so why wouldn’t I love a book called I heart New York? Meet Angela who finds out her fiance has been cheating and that all her friends knew, at her best friends wedding! To get over it she runs away to New York and is soon immersed in the culture and everything that entails. Some of the story is a little unbelievable, would you really start dating two guys less than a week after your fiance of 10 years and you break up? All in all if you’re looking for an easy read you can’t go wrong,
