Thank you to the Author, Lucie Wheeler and Netgalley for this review copy which was given in exchange for an honest review. Also thank you to Lucie for organising the Blog Tour and giving me the opportunity to be part of it.

This is my 2nd Lucie Wheeler book! I loved the first one – The First Time Mum’s Club – so I just knew I had to read this one. In this book the story is based around Nancy and her son Jack. Nancy’s husband left her and Jack one year ago as he couldn’t cope with the fact that Jack is autistic. The past year has been a struggle for Nancy bringing up Jack on her own. Luckily, she’s had the support of her good friend Harriet. Harriet is also a single mum. She brings up her two kids whilst running her own, very busy, company. She tends to put her work before her children, but only so she can give them the best life she can. Worrying that her friend needs a break, Harriet books them all on a holiday to Ibiza, but also trying to convince herself that her company can run without her there. Once there, Harriet realises that it’s not that easy to forget about work and Nancy begins to think it was a huge mistake taking Jack out of his comfort zone.

This book was great! Once I started it, I couldn’t put it down. You knew it wasn’t going to be easy, but you would think two single mums on holiday in Ibiza would have a great time! Unfortunately, Nancy struggles to cope with Jack’s meltdowns and Harriet is still checking her emails and not giving her two children much of her time. I loved their friendship though – how I’d love a friend who would pay for me to go on holiday for a week! They are such good friends and I love how they can say anything to each other, but as the week goes on you begin to see the cracks showing in their relationship.

Of course there had to be an element of romance in there as well and…cue handsome surgeon Cameron. Cameron is on holiday with his son, and there is an obvious attraction between him and Nancy. Nancy is in a dilemma though, with the ex-husband back on the scene and worrying that Jack doesn’t cope well with people he doesn’t know. Cameron is what you would expect though – kind, caring and sensitive – and both he and his son begin to win Nancy and Jack round.

There was nothing I didn’t like in this book. The characters were all more than likeable and everything just gelled together really well. It was a wonderful story full to the brim of friendship, love and family. Full of revelations and secrets, this book will warm your heart as you read through it. It teaches you that it’s okay to admit you’re not coping and that there is always the opportunity for a new beginning.

Oh, and completely off topic, It was also a fantastic book to read whilst sat looking at the piles of snow outside. How I wish I was sitting round by the pool in Ibiza with a cocktail rather than dressed up in my thermals with a hot cup of tea!

Highly recommended. Well done Lucie!!

I really enjoyed reading this book, not only was it funny at times it was also heart warming and sad. I thought the look into Jack's autism was perfectly paced for this book and very well written, making it through provoking but not to deep that it took over the whole book.
Two single mums decided to up sticks and go on a holiday with their kids, it was never going to be easy with Nancy and her worries around Jack, and Harriet, who is a workaholic, who finds it hard to switch from boss to mum. There are tears, laughter and new beginnings in this brilliantly written novel.

Words cannot really explain how much I enjoyed this book. This is my first Lucie Wheeler novel (I have The First Time Mums Club in my TBR pile and shall be reading it very soon seeing as I loved this one so much!) and I really, really enjoyed it. It has such a refreshing and lovely outlook on motherhood, and even though I'm not a mum myself yet, it brought a lot of reality of motherhood to light and I really enjoyed that.

I loved both Harriet and Nancy and really felt myself connecting to both characters on different levels. For Harriet, I felt for her because she was a working mum but was worried she wasn't good enough and for Nancy, she just wanted to live a normal life with her son but felt awful when she thought like that. Both characters were easily relatable and I loved the entire storyline.

The story follows the two mums on a holiday to sunny Ibiza, where they have gone to get away from normal life and have a break from all the stresses they both have back home. The place itself sounded beautiful and it had me longing for a ice cold cocktail! The descriptions of the cocktails (and how many they had!) sounded delicious and I was soon wishing I was in Ibiza instead of snowy London! Along the way, both mums learn new things about themselves and they also learn that it's okay not to be Super Mum and that they are trying their best.

I think this book sends out an incredibly important message to all mums out there who are struggling with motherhood and with their mental health - and the message is that it's okay not to be okay. There is help out there for you, you only need to ask for it. Everyone struggles from time to time, and that you need to just be honest if you are struggling, you are never alone. And I just think it's so important to know that. I think that this book helped me learn that I haven't got to know it all and I think that this will be really helpful for me when I do become a parent one day.

This book is amazing, it has some laugh out loud times and some emotional ones too. It's an incredible novel with an incredible message. Overall, a brilliant story and I would recommend to all - mum or no-mum! Thank you for a chance to read this novel, which I have reviewed honestly.

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

Nancy is left dumbfounded when her husband announces he is leaving her and their son, Jack, as he can't cope with Jack's autism. Nancy's best friend, Harriet, also a single mother whisks Nancy and Jack off on holiday with her two kids.

Jack finds it hard with the changes, Nancy finds it hard seeing Jack's pain and Harriet is coming to terms with her own failures as a mum. This story is full of love, pain and I think would personally resonate with every mum who has those moments of doubt about a parent.

Devoured this in a day. I liked how it portrayed the characters and also brought in a male perspective too. Recommend this book
