I don't know why I didn't care for this book. I think it was because I didn't like the characters, Abbot Peter is a likable character but I couldn't stand his obnoxious niece, DI Tamson, I can't even remember her sir name, it was like she was always referred to as Tamson. She was so prickly, there weren't a lot of characters in play in this book and the ones who were I didn't much care for.
This book revolves around a person from Abbot Peter's past, he finds himself as a guest speaker for a very small group of snobbish people like an HOA from Hell, who call themselves "The Stormhaven Etiquette Society" a member of this group happens to be a woman who Abbot Peter met before he became a monk. He wasn't quite sure what this group was all about either or why he was invited to speak.
They are all up in arms over a brothel that is working in town under the guise of "Model Works" it's ran rather well, and I preferred the sex workers over the others in a heartbeat.
I'm sorry for this review, but I just couldn't get into it.
I would like to thank the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book for my honest opinion.

This was my first Abbot Peter book and wont be my last. Its set in Stormhaven and found the Stormhaven etiquette society very amusing especially when one of their members is murdered and we fin d out she owns a brothel.

Its interesting having a none traditional sleuth in Abbot Peter who helps his policewoman niece Tamsin. I enjoyed the plot.

I received an ARC from NetGalley to read and review. The below is my honest, unbiased opinion. Thank you, Simon Parke, the publisher, and NetGalley, for allowing me to review.

The Stormhaven Etiquette Society, a secretive affair, unafraid to name and shame those who transgress. Model Services, the town’s only brothel, a discreet but busy presence in Church Street. Bybuckle Asylum, a desolate shell on the seafront that housed over seven hundred mental patients prior to ‘care in the community.’ What brings these three together is a cold-blooded execution that both shocks and confounds. For lying dead in the empty asylum, tied to an old metal bed frame, is a pillar of the establishment. Or is she? Sleuthing couple DI Tamsin Shah and her remarkable cleric uncle join forces once again to solve a murder mystery that reveals dark secrets from Abbot Peter’s tempestuous student years.

After seeing the cover for The Indecent Death of a Madam: An Abbot Peter Mystery, I just *had* to read it, and thankfully, Simon Parke didn't disappointment. I enjoyed this mystery and Parke's writing. I enjoyed the characters, the twists, and the suspenseful plot. If you're looking for a fast-paced mystery, this one's for you.
