Chet Bowman has been grieving the unjustified lynching death of his brother. The former marshal of their town lied about his guilt and whipped the citizens up in a frenzy and instigated the lynching, among other crimes before he disappeared from town. Chet is finally taking an interest in living again and has set his sites on the beautiful saloon owner, Lil Kersey. As his interest increases, weird things begin to happen at his ranch and he finally realizes that Austin Riley, the former marshal, is back in the area and looking for revenge.

When Lil is shot and kidnapped, Chet is determined to find her and protect her from the crazy vendetta that Austin has in store for both of them. But will be be able to reach her in time or will they lose out on their happily ever after?

This book was a quick read. I liked the story, although it isn't the type of book I would normally read. The connection between Lil and Chet seems real and not just a physical attraction. I liked the fact that their sex scenes weren't descriptive or detailed. It was more of a "behind closed doors" description.

I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Interesting, flawed characters. A better picture of living in a western town than you usually get with a historical romance novel.
