Unfortunately this book was a DNF for me. I was really hoping it would be sensational.

I didn't really get on with the writing. I really tried to keep reading but the subject didn't grab me. There are so many social media personalities like Holly and I understand she is supposed to be presented as superficial. However I didn't find her interesting enough to read about, and there are many other books waiting to be read.

In today's world of internet celebrity, created by posting the right thing at the right time, and having the face/body that fits this book ticked all the boxes when highlighting the current issues with social media today.

The main character is a health/lifestyle food blogger, who is easy to imagine as any of the current 'celebrity' instragram experts,  Throughout the book I was picturing someone similar to Clean Living Alice, with her own brand, sponsorship and cookbooks.

Holly is the Blogger we follow through this book.  Shes blonde, skinny, works out and share her healthy recipes with you on Instagram.  However Holly wasnt always the shining star she is now, as a child she felt unloved and unwanted. She was friendless and unhappy with herself.

After meeting a handsome doctor in the coffee shop, Holly embarks on a magical first date which ends with her in hospital.   We then follow the rollercoaster to her recovery while flushing out some secrets of her own.

Unlike a lot of Female led books the main character isnt obviously strong, shes flawed and just wants people to like her, and with social interaction a challenge for her the recognition on Instagram is her focus in life.

I think the crux of the matter in this book is reap what you sow...
The story is told through two main characters; Holly and Tyler. Holly is a blogger and has many many followers since defying cancer through healthy eating and other natural stuff. She pretty much craves the attention all the likes, comments and shares she gets. Tyler is a doctor and we first meet him when he slashes Holly's cheek after picking her up in a coffee shop. But why when he appears not to even know who she is? What follows next is a bit of a cat and mouse game between Holly and Tyler getting progressively nastier and darker as the book goes on and the surface layers are peeled away to expose some really juicy secrets, lies and duplicitous behaviour. As things escalate, you know the crash is coming but it's the fallout that really matters here.
To be completely honest I really disliked both Holly and Tyler pretty much right from the off. Even when the motivations for their behaviour was explained, it had just got too far for me and I think nothing would have swung either of them back into my good books at that point. But, I don't have to like the characters to enjoy a book, and I did enjoy this book. All I need to have is some kind of emotional connection be it positive or negative and I get on just fine and I did connect to both main characters albeit rather negatively!
The plot had its silly moments and also was a tad predictable at times. That said, what was written was executed very well. I found the author's writing style very easy to slip into. It was a bit repetitive at times too but then I guess that's a symptom of both the internet as a media and also obsession, which is quite prevalent throughout. Pacing was good and the balance between description and action also maintained well.
All in all, a good solid debut that kept me interested throughout and left me mostly satisfied at the end. It will be interesting to see what she serves up next time.
My thanks go to the publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.

I found this different from what I expected, yet at the same time I did want to read on to find out where it went. An enjoyable read.

Great but disturbing read about the perfect Instragram clean lifestyle we seem to be in today. Several twists throughout the book, some i saw coming, some i didn't!! The 2 main characters were interesting with both good and bad/complex personalities which made you question their choices and decisions!! All in all showing the darker side of today's social media/clean living obsessed generation. I really enjoyed it. Thank you for letting me review this book through Netgalley.

I did not enjoy this book. When I read the description of this book I thought it was going to be brilliant but it let me down big time.
It felt like some of the story was missing and there were big gaps that had me thinking what the hell is going on .
Holly needed to be a much stronger character and the whole book needs to have more detail and description.

It was a good suspense book to put you on edge. From beginning to end, you try to guess it, but twists are coming at you at the same time, so it has a very good pace.
I don't want to reveal too much, but I can tell what I liked about the book.
- the dual narrative: It adds a lot of richness, perspective and interest if a story is told from multiple eyes.
- The fact that the author took a subject that's very trendy and actually touches a lot of lives. Fad dieting and social media, 'Shame On You' combines both to show how obsession can put you in a difficult and dangerous situation. I also appreciate that the writer touches to the subject of the abuse of women.
-Unexpected ending is always best when you read a suspense book :)
So, overall it was a fast, good book. I would recommend it to those who loves to read these topics with an interesting thriller story.

When a social media star had her checks cut by a man she thought was her new boyfriend two lives begin to change for ever, I was going to say change for good but i will let you decide on that one.
I loved this book it takes you in several directions and is probably going to open a few eyes to the power for good and bad of social media, there had always been a way of communicating to each other but now it's wider and quicker but do we know who they really are the true story behind the tale. A good story teller has always had a media to soon their tales wether it's at the local watering hole or the BBC, Amy Heydenrych tells hers in her books and this one is exceptional in my view, She tells a tale that had me gripped from page one as all good authors should and do. It will leave you shocked in places surprised in others and confused in a way you probably didn't expect but all as it should in this story of shame and embarrassment, fear of the future, of today and tomorrow.
I love this book even though it had my stomach turning at places when I longed for the character I'd loved and cringed with but couldn't hate. If your confused then read the book get confused even more and see how you feel on the otherside of Amys novel
I did receive a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.

Holly is an instagram sensation. Her popularity at having forgone conventional cancer treatments to positively self-manage her cancer through diet and controversial alternative therapies knows no bounds.

Holly is social media's beloved face of clean eating and claims to have 'cured' herself of cancer through diet, exercise, the power of fruits and vegetables.

When she turns up in a fast food restaurant one night, clutching her face, some onlookers are delighted by her slip into 'normality' as they capture her image on their mobile phones.

Being photographed in a fast food restaurant is the least of Holly's worries.

Brutally attacked by a man she thought she was getting on well with, having met him earlier that day in a coffee shop, Holly is seeking help from the first place she finds open. Her attacker has long fled, his parting words sending a chill through Holly.

She knows that her attack is not the last she will see of him and she fears for her own future more than her own safety.

Because the thing is, that once you tell one little white lie online, its very easy to tell another, and another, and before you know it things spiral out of control.

Holly knows that she has been targeted because of things she has done in the past, she just doesn't know how much her attacker knows, and that is what frightens her the most.

There are some very unsavoury characters in this novel, but that only adds to the enjoyment in my opinion. The ending I think is going to be one that divides opinion, but this is a very clever and very current novel that deserves to do well.

I great read from another new author to me. It was well described, taking you from scene to scene with intricate detail. It's haunting yet accurate in the world of social media. This author definitely did her research into the happenings of social media and how it can affect a persons life.

I liked Holly, really liked her, though I didn't agree with her choice of topic to gain followers etc, that was wrong. Having personal experience (family related, not myself) with someone who suffered with cancer, I found it hard to read.

Tyler was written perfectly; he's was the right kind of demented that you need in a book like this and I like that he had such a demanding profession so it was easy to the wool over anyones eyes. It shows, really, that even the most reputable of people have their secrets and demons.

My favourite character though, had to be Zanna. She's the type of person everyone can get along with and she's a loveable person and loyal to a fault.

I loved the conclusion to the story and really wanted to high five Holly Evans. I was so stuck into the story it felt like, at times, that she was a real person.

The only reason a star was knocked off was because I wanted MORE story and less emotion. The book revolves more around the emotions of the characters, how they feel etc, then the story itself and for me, that was a little tedious to read.

Overall, I loved it. Simple as that. Was hauntingly accurate and a definite page turner.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bonnier Zaffre for an advance e-copy in exchange for an honest review.

Holly is an online ‘celebrity-blogger’ whose Celebrity Status crumbles after her face is slashed by a stranger who claimed she was a fraud.

Why was Holly slashed, and what secrets is she keeping hidden from her adoring public?

The novel starts of well with Holly meeting a handsome stranger and hitting it off with him, when suddenly he slashes her. Neither she, or we the reader, have any idea why. There are two narrators, Holly the blogger, and Tyler. Holly, cancer survivor healthy eating advocate; and Tyler who bears a grudge. Through the story, it explores the negative effects of social media, but both Holly and Tyler are very unwell people. In fact, in areas of the novel Holly is truly awful.

The plot works well and it is an enjoyable read.

Wow! I really enjoyed this novel which really showed the extent of which we are willing to share our daily lives online and exist in a virtual world to ‘bare’ our souls, as well as the damage this could have on others.

I knew this story would be an absolute corker as soon as I started it – the opening scene really captured my attention and hinted at the dark crime at the centre of this story.

The story is told from Holly’s point of view as she struggles to both rebuild her life and discover why she had been attacked, and her attacker Tyler. As the story unravels it is difficult to decide who I have more empathy for, which just shows the captivating way the author tells the story.

I liked the way this novel played on modern online culture, focusing on the pit-falls of how we portray ourselves online which could lead us open and vulnerable to attack, and the way in which nothing is a secret anymore.

The author creates a beautifully claustrophobic way of telling the story, which is very descriptive and fast-paced with two very distinctive point-of-view character’s. It is also very dark and chilling in places, which I of course loved, and took me as the reader in a very surprising direction.

This is a claustrophobic psychological thriller with a fast-paced, tightly woven plot with two characters slowly spiralling out of control – a brilliant recommended read!

I found that this was one of those books that you read through your fingers. It is quite horrifying in parts and full of surprising twists and turns. It takes the notion of unreliable narrators to the next level and seems impossible to second guess, for me at least.

It has a very contemporary feel with the use of social media put centre stage and has some caustic observations not only about those who post on it but also those who follow. It is tightly plotted and alternates the perspectives of the two characters, Holly and Tyler. There is a slightly claustrophobic feel as Holly becomes more and more isolated and it is clear that they both have secrets hidden in their past. Taking nothing at face value is a major theme as images are manipulated and presented falsely and lies get out of hand.

In short: an unsettling thriller about obsession and false appearances.

A psychological thriller by author Amy Heydenrych that will grow on you the more pages you turn.
The story is told through the eyes of Holly and Tyler. Holly is a blogger who preaches to her followers and tells of her cure from cancer. While Tyler is an obsessive character who bears a grudge. Holly is attacked for no apparent reason by a man she has only just met. Following the attack her life is thrown out of control and she tries to understand why she was attacked.
This is a fast paced addictive thriller that will keep you reading to find out more and is well worth a read.

I would like to thank Net Galley and Bonnier Zaffre for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Well what a cracker this one was, quite apt in the social and viral world we live in what with all the social media that’s thrust at us and how we out our lives online for all to see (and judge). How we live for likes and positive comments, how we almost want to be worshiped by followers and friends and we must have the perfect everything in order to achieve that.

So Holly loves the perfect life, perfect selfies, image, lifestyle, she eats clean, exercises everyday and says by doing this she’s cured herself of cancer. She constantly updates her pages with new smoothies and selfies and how you can too be cured through clean living.

She’s attached by a man she’s just met and from then on her life totally spirals out of control, why did he attack her, is he some strange stalker obsessed with her or is it something else?

You’ll have to read it and see......!

Seriously I can’t rate this book enough I thought it was fantastic and it took me by surprise and really made me think about how much we do lay ourselves bare for all to see, and how we do have to make ourselves perfect in order to be “liked”...

It was a gripping read very dark in places and quite chilling but a must read all the same, I bloody loved it and can’t wait for Amy to write her next one!!!!

Shame On You follows a brutal attack on online clean eating blogger, Holly. Holly is living the perfect, healthy life. Of at least the life she shows online appears perfect. She is an Instagram star who ensures every photo is taken at the perfect angle with the perfect filter for the perfect amount of likes.

But Holly's online life seems to be the reason she was targeted in a real life attack.

Following Holly's life before and after the attack the picture is built up of a childhood that shapes someone to become a liar to escape the inevitable. What is the harm in one little lie? It isn't going to kill anyone is it?

A series of complex characters are woven into one another's lives and how the shape the people we become in this gripping psychological thriller. A perfect holiday read!

Holly is one of these very 2017 celebrities: famous on Instagram, posting daily photos of her yoga poses and green kale flax seed smoothies, curing her cancer through vegan food and natural remedies. She is attacked by a mysterious stranger who slashes at her face, telling her she's a fraud. Chapters are told both from Holly's perspective, and from that of her attacker, Jack/Tyler. It was a conflicting read - I had very little sympathy with Holly and could understand where Jack/Tyler's rage came from, but equally he was also kind of a sociopath. The book trailed off a little in the midsection with a strangely short trip to some kind of celebrity retreat. Clearly inspired by the case of Belle Gibson, this is a book which attacks the nature of internet celebrities and alternative medicine without ever quite deciding what it wants to be, uncomfortably situated between contemporary women's fiction and thriller.
