Thank you to Simon and Schuster for my copy of this book via Netgalley.

Abbie has fled London after losing her job and not being able to pay her rent. Her sister Louise offers her a room in her house. The problem is that Abbie is used to the fast pace of London not the slow life of Littlewood. Also arriving in Littlewood is Eszter and her daughter Zoe. These women were very easy to connect with and I could see them easily being my friends if I met them.

I'm not going to go into anymore of the story as I want everyone to experience this for themselves.  I recently heard the term Up-Lit in relation to this book and its perfect. I read this book in between a lot of crime and psychological thrillers. It was exactly what I was craving. It was the perfect dose of happiness. I finished it feeling refreshed and smiley.

If you're having a bad day or just an okay day grab yourself a copy of this book because it will no doubt lift your spirits and make you see that there is still good in this world.

I am eagerly looking forward to the rest of this series.

This book had pretty much everything that I love in a book in it. A fresh start, a secret or two, friendships, family, a challenge and even cake. The characters were brilliant and within a few pages it was already becoming clear that I was really going to like them and enjoy this book. It made me laugh and smile and left me with a happy feeling when I finished it. It also surprised me in several places and I’m very keen to read part 2 and see what happens next – I’m not sure I want to guess because I’m pretty sure I’d get it wrong.

One thing that Random Acts of Kindness had was a big sense of community spirit and I loved the way everyone reached out and helped those who need it, even if they didn’t know them. Life would probably be a lot better for many people if the real world worked like that. I read most of it sitting in my favourite coffee shop with a piece of shortbread (one of the staff commented that I’m a bit addicted to their shortbread. She’s not wrong.) but I did kinda wish it was some of the cake from Brew, the coffee shop in the book because that sounded yummy. It was a cosy and warm read and the perfect way to fill this gray, damp February day.

I can’t think of a better book to be my first review of 2018 and I’ll be reading the remaining parts of publication day and looking out for more from Victoria Walters.

Really lovely, heartwarming novella. Felt connected and part of the characters lives within a few pages. So much seems to have happened already and I'm looking forward to part 2 to find out what happens with Louise and Alex, especially. Love the theme of kindness....

Thank you to Netgalley, the author and the Publishers for this review copy, given in exchange for an honest review.

This is Part One of the book entitled Random Acts of Kindness. Further parts will be released over the next few months, with the entire book being released at some point after this. The book begins with Abbie leaving her home in London after being made redundant. No job means it’s really hard for her to afford her rent, so takes up her sister Louise’s offer of a room with her. Louise lives in the small sleepy town of Littlewood. Not really much excitement for Abbie there, especially after the bright lights of London, but she doesn’t really have much of a choice. Arranging to meet her sister at a local café, she finds that she’s lost her handbag en route. Fortunately it is swiftly returned by fellow newcomers, Eszter and her daughter Zoe. Abbie finds out from the owner of the café that as she has received an act of kindness from someone, she must repay that act and do something kind for some else….

This was a lovely starter to what promises to be a great book! It’s hard to review yet after such few chapters, but the characters all seem lovely and you know that there is just so much more to their stories. It is obviously the beginning of a heart-warming story, full to the brim of family, friendship and love. I assume as the story goes on it will show us that random acts of kindness really do pay off!

I look forward to the next few parts of the story to find out what happens!

Five Stars!

Abbie has lost het job in London,..... and her boyfriend....... and with nothing left for her there, not forgetting the small problem of not being able to pay the rent, she flees London and heads for Littlewood and her sister Louise

Louise has split from her fiance Peter, but she is far from over him, and decides the only option is to forget men and throw herself into her work as a nurse

Eszter's husband has died but his dying wish was for Eszter to bring their daughter Zoe to England to meet his mother for the first time, so Eszther and Zoe have just arrived from Hungary

Although not very long this first part in the series sets the scene nicely and you can instantly tell that it is going to be a lovely heart warming series and I am really looking forward to the next instalment

The protagonists of this short story are three young women: Abbie has been fired from her PR job in London and she leaves the big city and her ex boyfriend and seeking refuge with her younger sister, Louise, at Littlewood. Louise loves her job as a nurse and loves taking care of her patients but she is still not over her ex-fiancé Peter, who broke her heart. Eszeter has just arrived in England from Hungary with her seven-year-old daughter Zoe on a mission to fulfill her husband's last wish.

As I read just a few chapters, I couldn't really get a sense of the story or the characters, but, from what I read, I really liked it. Set in a small English village, this is the beginning of what seems to be a heart-warming and enjoyable story.
