I struggled through the whole book, it just didn't hold my attention and wasn't even that bothered about the way it concluded.
Enjoyed Lili's two kids and the lines they would come out with.
Was a book with a great premise but just didn't work for me as I was reading it i'm afraid. Potentially had I read it another day I would have loved it more.
Nothing wrong with it per se, just didn't do it for me I'm afraid.

Four years after the death of her husband, Lilian is still grieving. But she doesn't have much time to mull over her grief with two young daughters, a supportive sister who is always at her house, and a demanding job that now requires her to take a gardening class every Saturday morning. But the gardening class turns out to be a good thing as she meets new friends and possibly a new love.
This is a funny, light and enjoyable novel. I sympathised with Lilian and her grief over her husband's death created the few emotional moments throughout the novel. What I liked most was Lilian's two young daughters, Annabel and Clare, who were funny, very smart, and nothing got past them. There are no surprises or shocking moments, but this is still a funny, light, and enjoyable novel.

Central to the story is Lili and her struggle to move on with life after the death of her husband.
She is surrounded by a great mix of characters - especially her sister, but also the new people she meets when she is forced by her boss to enroll on a gardening course.
It is quite an emotional read, but also fully at times too

Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. What a lovely lovely feel good cosy book to snuggle down to.

The Garden of Small Beginnings by Abbi Waxman a five-star read that will make the sun shine for you. This could have easily been a dreary read, it’s essentially about widow a novel about loss, but it’s about so much more than that. It is heart wrenching and sad at time, but it’s also full of funny stories that will warm your heart. Lilian Girvan is a woman who could have given up and almost has on several occasions over the last few years, when you lose someone so suddenly as Lilian did its hard I’ve been there and the author dealt with it so well, it was great the way that she was truthful, its hard and she didn’t gloss it over like some have done in the past.
The melancholy in the story was great it was balanced nicely with some humour that gave the story real legs, this was a story that would be good for anyone to read. I’m going to buy a copy for my gran as she is a very keen Gardner and will love the tips through the book as well as the story it really has something for everything.
Thank you Abbi Waxman for a great read, I look forward to reading more from you soon.
