Abby Hart, a relationship columnist, basing her whole life on a perfect lie with the perfect fake fiance.
Luke Shelverton, emotionally closed after losing his fiancée, unwilling to let himself be involved with anyone emotionally.
How will Luke accept being Abby's perfect fake fiance? Read on to find out.
A good concept of how a relationship based on lies can have a happy ending, but not until the characters each face the truth and accept reality.
This book was received free from NetGalley via Mills and Boon Insiders, but that does not influence my opinions.

I do love Melanie Milburne's books. The author writes characters you can really get behind. Abby Hart writes an advice column. She has always felt inferior so much so she faked a Mr Perfect as her fiance. She did such a good job, her fans and colleagues are desperate to meet him. When she is invited to a charity ball along with Mr perfect. Now she is in big trouble. Abby doesn't want to lose her job or be found out as a liar. Luckily she knows someone who fits the bill. If only she can persuade him to go along with the lie. Luke Shelverton is the big brother to Abby's best friend. Luke really doesn't want to have anything to do with this deception. Unluckily for him he just cant resist Abby's mouth, her reluctantly agrees to play the part for a couple of hours. Its clear the attraction between these two, you will be cheering them onto their happy ever after. Highly recommended for all fans of contemporary romance.

Reading this book makes me realise that not all advice given by agony aunt are true life event that they have live through. Abbey built her life on lies and her view of perfect relationship. If not because of the up coming ball, she might have gotten away with it. The way she was portrayed in the book makes her seem a little unstable in the common sense department. I enjoyed reading this book especially they way Luke got his groove back. From no string attached to forever after. I will recommend this book.

A well-written book it started with sweet innocent and fun but then changed with Luke. I did enjoy the book but at times both characters annoyed me Abby with her rushing into things and Luke for all of a sudden his feelings changed...

I'm a fan of the author and normally love her books but this one was just ok for me.

An unusual starting point for romance. Abby Hart has made up her fiancé, Mr Perfect as an aid when writing her relationship column. Only now she has been invited to a prestigious charity event where everyone is expecting to meet him. Abby turns to the only man who knows that there is no fiancé, Luke Shelverton , her best friend’s brother. Luke is a reclusive billionaire living under the shadow of his own fiancée’s death, reluctantly agrees to help Abby.
The two main characters have a bit of a history so the romance between them has something to build on and it isn’t a quick love at first sight. Both characters have well explained back stories which are slowly revealed and you learn about them as they share with each other. I really enjoyed the progression of the story and the evolvement of both the romance and the characters’ personal journey. Only criticism was that the resolution was very abrupt and cheesy.

Abby Hart has been writing a column for a magazine about her perfect relationship and her perfect fiancé. The column has become so popular that Abby and her fiancé have been invited to tan Exclusive Ball. However, there is no relationship and no fiancé. Fearing for her job and not wanting to miss attending the ball, an opportunity of a lifetime, there is only one person Abby can ask for help. Her best friend’s brother, Luke Shelverton.

Luke Shelverton is a workaholic who dislikes attending social functions. His ex-fiance died in an accident five years ago and it seems as though he has not yet recovered for the loss. When Abby asks him to be her pretend fiancé his immediate response is a no.

I enjoyed the story as it made a change from reading about a billionaire! Whilst I love a strong heroine, I did find Abby at times was too forward and desperate. Luke was kind and generous, maybe a little too soft. The chemistry between them was hot and sizzling and it was great to see them open up to each other as they have never done before. I have read many books by Melanie Milburne and was looking forward to reading a Virgin for a Vow. This book was a good read.

I received this book from Netgalley and this in no way influences my review.

A Virgin for a Vow by Melanie Milburne is published on 28 December 2017 by Mills and Boon Modern. Abby Hart is a relationship journalist/blogger who has become famous for her "perfect" life with Mr Right. Unfortunately for her this life and her fiancé are fictitutious. A father who was jailed for being a drug dealer and assault and her deceased mother a prostitute and drug addict, Abby was brought up in a series of foster homes and so wants the perfect rose tinted love life. Her lies, howerver, are about to come crashing down as she is supposed to bring her fiancé to a London Spring Ball to be introduced to her boss, readership etc.

Luke Shelverton is her best friend's big brother. A rich biomedical robotics engineer who is still getting no over his fiancées death (she committed suicide 5 years ago after they split up), doesn't date and is extremely cynical. She wants him to pretend to be her fiancé. She convinces him to come to the Ball with her and he wins a trip abroad. They agree to a no strings romance but as their relationship moves from list to love can Luke overcome his antipathy and fear of relationships?

This is Melanie Milburnes's 75th book and it does not disappoint.

Abby is a successful 'agony aunt' columnist and is in a fix because she has been compelled to attend a prestigious ball by her employers and been told to bring her fiance with her. Fine. The only problem with that is that the perfect fiance she often writes about in her column is ... Fictitious! Abby is a virgin emotionally damaged by a past childhood she has never told anyone about. She suddenly remembers Luke, the older brother of her best friend who had tragically lost his fiancee in a car crash a few years before and had become a workaholic since. Abby bets Like to just go with her to the ball for two hours as her fiance and to his astonishment, he agrees ... only two hours. They get on really well, and after the two hours Luke drives Abby to her home, one to find that there has been a gas leak, and she isn't allowed to go into her building until further notice. Reluctantly Luke offers Abby his spare room until she can return, but there will be no bedroom sharing ... of course not! ... I'll leave you to read the rest for yourself and I'm sure you will enjoy it.
This is a heart warming story between two emotionally damaged people and the way it plays out over a few weeks is well written and we'll worth reading. Recommended

Abby Hart is a journalist who writes the top relationship advice column. She claims to have a longstanding relationship with her ‘Mr Perfect’ and often cites things about him in her writing. Now, however, she has a problem as the two of them have been invited to attend a charity ball. If she doesn’t show, she’ll be in bother with her editors. If she shows up without ‘Mr Perfect’, she’ll be even more bother. However, he’s a fictional character, someone she’s made up, so what’s she to do? That’s when she asks her bff’s brother, her secret crush, Luke Shelverton to step in and pretend to be her loving fiancé….

This is a steamy romance where pretend becomes real but not without plenty of drama - and laughs - along the way. The chemistry between them is hot, their resistance to each other is low but the past, secrets and lies all need revealing before they stand any chance of achieving their HEA together. The story is a fast paced, roller coaster ride with an epilogue that is a delightful, fun ending!

I requested and received a copy of this novel, via NetGalley. This is my honest review after choosing to read it.

I love mills and boon books from the time - I was a teenager and it seems my love for these genre books are still staying strong.
Heroine is in a fix in hervpersonal life due to lies spoken in professional capacity. Our kind hearted but a recluse hero( best friend's bro) steps in to help her.
I love the plot and the way love grows between them. There were few scenes which seemed a little bit drag on like- heroine jumping on hero's bed or the unexpected gas leak in her appartment.
But overall, wou!d definitely buy the book just for the joy of reading a good one.Happy Reading guys!

I received this book free for a honest review here goes. Rubbish I wanted to finish this book at chapter 2 but thought no I,ll keep going. Abby and Luke are friends well Abby is Luke’s sisters friend there romance literally starts after the turn of a page one minute there just friends the next there in bed and the way she ended up in bed is ridiculous I know these books are meant to be a bit of funny but seriously. Luke had a migraine she got him some tablets then instead of going back to her own room she decided to just get in to bed with him like some bunny boiler stalker. Then all of a sudden Luke decided that he has fancied hermit like 4 years please. Then shock of shocks so predictable Luke wins a holiday that she wanted shock not. Luke goes to drive her home and her flat has had some kind of gas leak so shock she can’t stay with any one else but Luke. They then decide they will start a fling for a week and go on the holiday an island with no one else. I’m sorry but this book looks like a 15 year old wrote it in fact I like to think a 15 year old would probably do a better job. Save your self time and money and don’t bother with this drivel

Almost Perfect!, 4 Stars 🌟
Abby Hart has it all the perfect life and the perfect fiancé, or so she would let you think, in fact it's all a carefully crafted illusion Abby feels she has to maintain as London's top relationship advice columnist. After all who would take her advice if they knew the truth that Abby is a virgin who has never had a relationship and was brought up in foster care following her traumatic childhood.
So when Abby receives an invitation to attend a prestigious charity ball with her 'perfect’ fiancé, Abby calls on the only person she can trust her bestfriends brother Luke Shelverton.
Although Luke has his own issues, he reluctantly agrees to pretend to be Abby's fiancé for the ball but when circumstances transpire to push Abby and Luke together; Luke realises there is more to Abby and the attraction between them ignites, but when the week is over can Abby break through Luke's reservations to find her ‘almost perfect’ HEA!
Wow Ms Milburne’s 75th book doesn't disappoint, it is the perfect way to enjoy a winter's evening snuggled up on the sofa with a cosy blanket and a hot chocolate or a glass of wine. Ms Milburne is always a must read, congratulations on the first 75 and I’m looking forward to the next 75 and more!
Fyi I received my copy from Netgalley and Mills and Boon via Mills and Boon Insiders, but this does not influence my opinions as all opinions are my own.
