A gripping read that kept me hooked throughout. Is Emily a reliable narrator or is she deceiving us all. Full of twists to keep the reader guessing. Who can be trusted?

This was a book with two stories contained within it, and it was confusing to me what one had to do with the other. A bit of a drudge to plough through this book, but intriguing enough of the main characters that I continued, hoping it would all dovetail together by the end of the book.
However, I was disappointed with the ending because there was no hints during the story that that was where we would end up, and with a thriller I think the Author should feed you clues so you can possibly work out the ending for yourself, even if it still comes as a shock, which this book did not.
Nothing wrong with the writing, just the structure of the book and the dreariness of the story was what let it down in my opinion.

This was a brilliant read. As soon as I started reading this book I just knew I was going to love it. Highly recommended

"From the first time I saw them together I knew it felt wrong. I didn't like the way he touched her or the self-conscious way he played with Molly and Luke. Joanne saw none of it of course. So I did it to prove to her that she was wrong. I did it for us."

I would like to thank NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book even though I did not finish this book.

I read this book rather a long time ago now, but I unfortunately don't remember it too well. I know I finished it though, and I think I recall being surprised at some of the twists and turns!

Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.
After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.
I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.
Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.

The start of the story was quite intriguing but right after that it slowed down painfully that it took me a while to regain interest to Em's life. After so much build up, I wasn't that keen on the reveal despite it being surprising. The ending also fell a bit short for me. I was expecting some kind of vindication on Em's part. Either way, I still find this a good read.

This is a slow and steady read, with secrets from beginning to end, and keeping the reader guessing until the end. Recommended.

I had an ARC of this book from NetGalley but I decided to buy the audio book to listen to. I really enjoyed this on audio and found it so hard to put down, I was listening every chance I had. It follows Emily whose life has fallen apart after she accused her husband’s best friend of rape. She moves away to start a new life but finds it hard to settle in her apartment. Then one day a family move in and she befriends the single mum, Joanne. She then begins to worry about Joanne’s new boyfriend and whether he is all he appears to be. Emily is an unreliable narrator and I could never completely trust what she was thinking, she seems quite paranoid at times. This kept me on my toes though and whilst I worked out some of the reveal before it happened, there were still shocks in store!

A tale of two halves, both disturbing and compelling, a pure barn burner of a book thats impossible to put down!

This is a really solid, well crafted and enjoyable thriller/suspense novel. The tension builds slowly but surely and it is relentless! The twist came as a complete shock to me - the author had completely misdirected me and I don't admit that easily! Yet the revelation still doesn't dissipate the tension, in fact it ramps it up to almost unbearable levels! Proper chewing your nails down to the first knuckle and screaming out loud with indignant frustration kind of stuff! The relief, when it finally comes, is believably done and satisfying and the ending was simple and brief which I felt it needed to be. A great read.

Three and a half star rating.
After what she's just been through Emily trusts very few people and she certainly doesn't trust Joanne's new boyfriend. Emily starts off as a sympathy needing character but then I lost any empathy for her as she turns into a bit of a busybody, always spying on everyone else. Why does she make the wrong decisions, say the wrong things and why is she so slow to catch on? A bit slow in parts and very much a page turner in others. It would make a great last minute present for someone!

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for this advanced reader copy, which is no longer an advanced copy.
I read this on the treadmill, an hour each time after letting it sit and stew on my to be read shelf. This has the makings of a fantastic thriller, but it just didn’t do it for me, even after the second chance I gave it after giving up the first time. With the ending, I felt severely underwhelmed, and found myself questioning if I had missed things. But overall, it wasn’t my cup of tea and maybe if a book doesn’t pull me in the first time, it doesn’t always need a second chance.

Enjoyable psychological thriller! I don't want to give too much of the story away since I'm terrible at hiding spoilers! The first part of the story hooked me and even a day after reading I'm unsure if Emily is an unreliable narrator. The second part of the book was set up brilliantly and had a nice little twist that I didn't see coming (and I read a lot of books like this!) 4/5 since I think there was a few loose ends.

Firstly I would say that this book is worth sticking with if like me you initially find it bit confusing. The story opens on an intriguing storyline that then seems to be left hanging and moves on to a completely different storyline but towards the end the purpose of this becomes clearer. Emily moves to a new area following a devastating event in her life and coincidentally moves in to her new flat at the same time as her new neighbour Joanne and her 2 young children. Soon after meeting Joanne's new boyfriend Matt Emily feels that something is not right about Matt and sets about trying to investigate him and his life.
I was unsure who to believe but very much wanted to believe that Emily was telling the truth and was rooting for her throughout despite her apparent fondness for getting involved in things that do not concern her!
A good, engaging thriller with some decent twists. 4 stars and thanks to Netgalley and publishers for ARC.

I received a digital ARC of this book from #Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I can always tell that a book is great when I'm not constantly flicking my eye down to the progress marker in the corner of my kindle. If I don't notice the percentage then the book is really keeping my interest. This certainly did that. From the first page I couldn't put it down. I had to keep reading, and I finished it in one day. I hadn't expected the ending to be what it was, but I loved it. Loose ends are tied up and everything is explained.
I will definitely read more by this author in the future. She creates characters that I really felt an emotional connection with and could sympathise with. I was totally invested and cared about them. I wanted the truth to come out, whatever that turned out to be. I was rooting for Emily throughout and that she was telling the truth. However the events that take place do make you question that.
A great story that I couldn't put down, with a great ending.

I wanted to love this book, tried hard too, but just didn't grab me. I couldn't finish it at this time, but will try in the future again, and update if it changes.
Will be using in daily challenges, and letting the members of Chapter Chatter Pub know about its release. Thank you for the opportunity to read this book.

This was book of 2 stories. I was hooked straight away and stayed up late to finish it as I could not work out how it was going to end. The ending really surprised me. There was still a lot of unanswered questions about the first part of the story which was a bit annoying. It was a quick and easy read that overall I really enjoyed.
In the beginning we see Emily in court, accusing her husbands best friend of rape. The rest of the story is what happens afterwards and how things have changed. Emily makes a new friend in Joanne but when she meets her boyfriend she struggles to trust him. She sets out to help her friend. Emily is a confusing character that makes it hard to know what to believe. .
Thanks to Little Brown Book Group UK and NetGalley for my copy of this book to read. All opinions are my own and are in no way biased

Excellent story. Wonderful characters and plot line. I really enjoyed it. I would recommend this book.
