I found this story to be long winded and quite baffling- not as in the story line is confusing- as thats actually relatively simple- I just struggled to understand why Emily acts the way she acts in the book?

The book opens where Emily is in court- and for me this part of the book held very little relevance to the rest of the story? It made no actual sense to have this in the book- and now I'm finished with the book I'm still not sure if it was truth or lies?

I expect it was so we could perhaps take a glimpse into the type of character Emily was.....

After her life falls apart- Emily moves to a different town- determined to get a fresh start- moving into some flats where a young widow and her 2 children move in at the same time.

Emily forges a friendship with Joanne (the new neighbour) and her 2 young children- but when Joanne gets a new boyfriend Emily feels something isnt right and takes it upon herself to investigate Matt and see why he's dating Joanne.

i found Emilys behaviour very odd- she had literally nothing to go on just a gut feeling- and all this internal monologue of gut feelings and assumptions grated on me after a time.

The story picked up a little towards the end but momentum was soon lost and I still didn't understand the reasonings....

Gripping book, with lots of twists and turns throughout, which kept me turning the pages long after I should have been asleep!

The ending seemed rushed in comparison to the rest of the book, but I am certainly looking forward to reading more from Alison Bruce.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, the suspense was masterfully littered throughout the book and spurs the reader to read on and keep interest.

This is the first book that I have read that is told from the perspective of a woman who loses her case against her rape victim and so this was an interesting narrative to read, however throughout the book we are told by everyone around Emily that she lied about being raped. I found that there wasn't a lot of resolution to this part of the plot and would have like for it to have been clear whether or not Emily did falsely accuse Andy or whether she was telling the truth.

Overall, I give this book 4 stars. It took me a while to get through this book due to its length and times when the plot slowed down. But overall the reading experience was good and I would recommend this to friends looking to read something like this, or looking to read from a perspective that they probably haven't before.

Thankyou to NetGalley, Little, Brown Book Group UK and Alison Bruce for the opportunity to read an advanced readers copy of I Did It For Us.
This is the sort of book that you need to make yourself comfortable because you will not be moving for awhile. This book captures the readers attention from the opening pages and does not let go until you reach the conclusion. I really enjoyed reading this novel and read it in one sitting.

This book was fantastic. I was hooked right from the start. Main character immediately likeable and sympathetically portrayed and then her story was one I simply could not put down. Amazing.

Follow Emily as she lives with life after accusing her husbands best friend of Rape. The aftermath of trying to cope after the trial and the tangled web of a new friendship. Her new best friend gets a boyfriend and Emily is jealous she will do anything to split them up...... A great read indeed.

Emily's life is a mess after she accuses her husband's best friend of rape, and as a reader you are constantly doubting her story... Did Tyler rape her indeed? Then there is the trial and the aftermath leaving her shattered, things will never be the same.

Who is sending her the hatemail? And why is she clutching at that one new friend she made after moving?

Personally, I was a bit annoyed with her behavior, perhaps that is why I didn't see that plot coming.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the book.

Joanne has a new boyfriend, but that’s hardly cause for celebration as far as Emily’s concerned, Luke is bad news. Especially for Joanne’s children. But Joanne won’t listen to Emily, so Emily takes matters into her own hands. This book had me waffling between who was the “good guy” and who was the “bad guy”. A chilling story that kept me guessing

Interesting enough.
I finished in one sitting and it was definitely a page Turner, but a few things that didn't ring true.
Great beach read. Entertaining if you don't think too hard on the details.

I received an advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoy this one. It has all the usual conventions and clichés of the genre, but it’s very entertaining and very satisfying. It is a very triggering topic – a woman who attempts to prosecute her rapist is blamed and shunned– but the payoff feels satisfying, and it sheds light on some very ugly sides of truth. I stayed up all night to finish it- I couldn’t put it down.
