This is a very well detailed and well researched account of German soldiers who were taken prisoner and held as prisoners of war in Camp Cooke, California during World War 2. Stories were from the prisoners themselves who told of their lives before, during and after the war. It was a very interesting read and having read much on World War two before now I found it to be a very worthwhile and significant piece of work.

I liked this book. I thought it provided some really good information about German POWs in America. Yet I felt that this book was a bit long toothed in the fact that most of the inmates repeated the same things. Also the part of the sub camps was unnecessary and distracted from the main component of the book. Overall you should read this book if you are interested in the POWs, but skim some parts.
