I did enjoy this book, and particularly because of the poetic, beautiful language. The Orkney setting is beautiful, and the touches of humour are nicely done. I would recommend this book. Thanks to Netgalley for an arc copy of this book.

I really wanted to love this quirky book because I’m kind of obsessed with Orkney and Shetland. Not that I’ve been, but I’m pretty sure my dream home is around there somewhere.

Sadly, I just couldn’t get into Chiff Chaff and had to DNF. I didn’t even make it to the Chaff!

The writing was interesting. I liked the use of dialect and the descriptions of the landscape, but the 16 year old narrator in the first part of the book was too repetitive and muddling for my liking. It was too much effort to figure out what was going on, so I admit it – I gave up. A great idea, but it didn’t work for me.

While this title wasn't one of my favorites, I have ordered a copy for my library. I know that there will be readers that enjoy this unique read. Thank you so much for allowing me a sneak peek of it!

I didn't finish this. The premise intrigued me, but once I got reading, I couldn't get into it.

What a strange, confusing book! Yet it won me over. Once I stopped trying to make linear/literal sense out of it, and just went with the flow, I experienced a charming -yet very odd- adventure. Overall, I enjoyed it very much.
