Every time I read a book by this author she tugs my heartstrings.

She really knows how to open a readers heart to allow the characters to enter, that’s where they remain inside of you while you experience every conceivable emotion, reaction, pain, sorrow and joy that they do.

An amazing read!

Oh wow, Ms.Rimmer has done it again!! 'Before I Let You Go' is a devastating, eye-opening novel which made me feel things I had never thought before - and no, just to clarify, that isn't a bad thing at all.

Annie and Lexie used to be extremely close before the big, wide world made its mark on them as human beings. Their earlier life was full of love from their mum and dad, as well as typical sibling rivalry. But, when one night changed their lives forever, the sisters knew that they needed to support each other even more, especially when a certain man walked through their door.

It's clear that Annie's past plays a big part in the outcome of her current life and the decisions she had made leading up to 'now', however the author doesn't let us into the finer details all at once, instead being drip fed pieces of information as the storyline progressed. Whilst there was a part of me deep down which had a feeling about certain events once Lexie had left her childhood home, the black and white truth sent shivers up and down my spine. Annie is an addict and, seeing as she is living in a state where addictions whilst pregnant is a felony, her luck isn't likely to change anytime soon.

It may seem as though the storyline is governed by Annie's situation and bad decisions, yet Lexie's character and her relationship with fiance, Sam, also get their fair share of the spotlight. Let me just say that people aren't always as they seem - both Annie and Lexie prove that throughout the book.

'Before I Let You Go' has such a serious theme running through it, and once again Kelly Rimmer has shown just how versatile her story telling is as she highlights a topic which, whilst may be seen as 'taboo', is a subject which could be a lot more 'popular' than people may have thought. It was very easy for me to sit and judge Annie, even though I didn't know her full story, purely because of her being an addict. It's shameful on my part to an extent, but my reaction just proves that addiction is extremely serious illness and without knowing the full facts or how to deal with addiction, feigning ignorance will get us nowhere.

This book blew me away, and not just because of the addiction situation. There is a lot more to this book than that - I'm just refusing to give anything away! Kelly Rimmer is a phenomenal author who delivers storyline after storyline in such a majestic, poignant and seriously beautiful manner. I'm probably not conveying my opinions of the book properly, so please forgive me, just trust me when I say that the emotion in the storyline is raw, solid, yet incredibly tender. Feelings which magnified my whole experience of the book from start to finish, a book which I will NOT be forgetting in a hurry.

Spellbinding, heart breaking, and absolutely breath-taking, 'Before I Let You Go' will put relationships to the test, making even the simplest of decisions the hardest of them all. Outstanding!

I’m a big Kelly Rimmer fan, every book of hers that I have read have been a brilliant read and one of them in particular completely blew me away.

So I was excited to read her latest book Before I Let You Go, and wanted to read it based only on who wrote it, the blurb really didn’t matter. As it turned out if I had read the blurb then it would have been a book that I wanted to read. Although there might have been some hesitation because when a book features someone in active addiction it can often misrepresent addiction or even glamourise it.

Not that that happens here, one of the best parts of the book is the accurate portrayal of addiction, how hard it is the break and the heartbreaking consequences that it can bring.

The relationship between sisters Lexie and Annie is delightfully complex, when they were young they both needed each other and had a wonderful relationship, but Lexie moved out and was unable to have contact with Annie for a few years. In that time both girls changed and things between them were never quite the same again.

Lexie still feels responsible for her sister and tries, again and again, to help Annie to break her addiction. Finally, Lexie must cut ties in order to keep herself safe and allow her to live her life, which she is finally getting back when Annie contacts her again.

It is hard to say no to family when they need help, and when Lexie finds out that Annie is pregnant she becomes determined to do everything that she can to support Annie to get clean and so that she can keep her baby. But what will the consequences be for Lexie?

I really did enjoy reading Before I Let You Go, the characters were realistic and I cared about what was going to happen for them. Kelly Rimmer really is a skilled author whose books I will continue to read, enjoy and possibly shed a tear over.

Thank you to Kelly Rimmer and Headline for a copy of Before I Let You Go. I was under no obligation to review the book and all thoughts are my own.

4.5* rounded up to 5*

This book should firstly come with a warning that it has an emotional punch that even Rocky would be proud of.

It starts with a moral dilemma, how far would you go to help a sibling? Is blood thicker than water?

Lexie is contacted by her sister Annie as she needs help, she is pregnant and hooked on drugs, desperate for help but afraid to go to the hospital as social services will take her unborn baby away.

I started this book disliking Annie and finding her weak, but I had forgotten you shouldn’t judge somebody by how they look or how they initially act until you know what they are going through. (first impressions can definitely be deceiving)

The moral of this book for me was sometimes you can’t help somebody unless they ask for help and if that is when they reach rock bottom you just have to be patient.

The story of Annie’s descent into drugs was beautifully written and will tug at anyone’s heart strings. I read this in the bath with tears streaming down my face!

Definitely the most emotive read this year.

Thank you to netgalley for my copy in exchange for a review.

Another heartrending story from the pen of Kelly Rimmer. Her books really should come with a mascara warning! A beautifully crafted tale of two sisters: Lexie, a successful doctor engaged and settled, and Annie, an addict who cannot get clean, pregnant and in danger of losing her child.
The sisters had a strong bond following the death of their father but after Lexie leaves to follow her dreams, Annie’s life enters a downward spiral with only her beloved journal for company.
As Annie struggles to get clean after the birth of her baby, Lexie faces a difficult decision. Will she look after her tiny ill niece? Will she trust Annie to look after her if she manages to get clean?
This such an emotional read. The story alternates between the sisters, with Annie struggling in the modern day, and Lexie’s back story being told mainly through her journal. The story is sad. It is heart breaking. It is a brilliant portrayal of the tortured world of the addict and the guilt of the family members who cannot seem to help.
Yes, Kelly Rimmer, you made me cry – again.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance review copy.

RWow this book was stunning. I loved it from start to finish so cleverly written about two sisters one fighting addiction. This book had me holding back sobs in the middle of a flight it was that good. The author portrays the subject with so much knowledge it just brought the book to life. Maybe it might change some minds on addiction and how society views people who struggle to fight it. Utterly amazing

Wow. A very touching, heartbreaking read! I was desperate to know whether Annie would overcome her troubles and addiction. To say more would ruin things for the reader. All I will say is that I thoroughly recommend this if you like a tearjerking story of forever love between sisters and the heartache of drug addiction and abuse. Many thanks to Net Galley and publisher for this digital copy in exchange for my review.

Amazing book, took me through a roller coaster of emotions, Kelly Rimmer’s books are always real page turners and this was no different. Loved it

Whenever I read a book by Kelly Rimmer I always feel I am learning something new. Whether it’s about the forced adoptions in Australia in the incredible “The Secret Daughter” or the grief and denial in the superb “A Mother’s Confession” and “Before I Let You Go” is no different. It’s a heartbreaking story about love, loyalty, addiction and how far we will go to protect our family.

Before I Let You go is about two sisters bound by their tragic childhood. Lexie is a successful GP with a fiance and a lovely home, Annie is a deeply troubled drug addict who comes back into Lexie’s life heavily pregnant and in need of immediate medical attention and help.

This emotional and often uncomfortable story focuses on Lexie’s unwavering determination and belief that she is fully responsible for Annie’s recovery and well being, however when faced with having to care for Annie’s newborn baby whilst she is in a recovery centre, Lexie has some awful truths to uncover.

This book is a thought-provoking, emotional and often heartbreaking read and I thoroughly recommend it.

Another first by this author and another change of genres for me. I'm used to chic lit so this was a complete change for me. It was a refreshing change for me and I was drawn into the story almost immediately with some fantastic characters. It discusses drug abuse so very identified discussion are mentioned and it's not one sided but on both sides of the addiction. So you get the story of the drug addict and one given from the family it's affected. The bond of the two sisters is so strong but it's instantly damaged. If you don't know much about drugs and needs some educating in the area this is a perfect book because the story is discussed in such detail in such a professional way. It is a sad read though towards the end so be warned.
A fantastic book by this author treading on such difficult issues we have in the world today

I have read a few of Kelly Rimmers books before and always found them very emotional. This book was no exception. I absolutely loved it and couldn’t put it down. This is a story of two sisters, Lexie and Annie, who had a traumatic childhood. Lexie has it all and Annie is pregnant and dependent on drugs. Lexie has always been there for Annie so when Annie asks for her help she can’t say no. The story is told by both sisters. Annie’s story is told through chapters from her journal entries detailing what had caused her drug addiction.
An absolute ‘must’ read that will leave you in tears at the end. Brilliant! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

I am big fan of Kelly Rimmer’s books so was delighted to receive the opportunity to read and review Before I Let You Go and I wasn’t disappointed. I really related to the main character to Lexi and her relationships with her sister Annie, partner and mother. The use of the journal entries at the start of each chapter to tell Annie’s side of the story was clever and worked incredibly well. I’ve read a lot of books recently that jumps between characters and time lines and it often take a moment to work out where you are when you pick the book up - but this book manages to keep the distinction between the sisters stories very clear - I was never lost! The story of these 2 sisters is steadily revealed throughout the chapters, and the end is really heartbreaking. If you enjoy family saga’s, great characters, tear jerking endings novels then this will be for you- it would also make great book club book with plenty of sensitive and emotional issues to discuss.

Wow! I absolutely loved this book. It was outstanding, very well researched and I couldn't put it down. It explores the dark side of addiction but was beautifully written. It left me quite emotional and certainly tuged at the heartstrings. I have never read anything by this author before but have just bought a couple of her other books and can't wait to read them

If I listed all the topics handled in this book you might mistake it for a self help book. It is incredible how many sensitive issues are packed in to it. And they nestle together beautifully. It reads so easily, but is so engaging. It had me in tears. I think it would have been ugly crying, but I was on the tube, so I managed to stop myself from bawling, but I was inside! I highly recommend this book
