Lucy and Gideon are have amazing chemistry throughout, i feel the ending was a little rushed but i would definitely read a second book to see what happens next!

Very modern and pretty erotic romance - the pacing was really excellent and so I finished this in just 24 hours. I was a little disappointed with the speed/ease with which the ending/resolution came about (all that was really keeping the hero and heroine apart was crossed wires), but this didn't affect my overall enjoyment of the book.

If, like me, the last time you read a Mills and Boon was over 10 years ago, you will be either pleasantly surprised or extremely shocked. Personally I am in the middle group - the plot was predictable, the characters engaging and the sex scenes well written - as was the rest of the book. Once I believed (or remembered this was a novel) the scenario that a strong business woman would ask a 'friend' to bolster her confidence in the bedroom I began to enjoy the escapism.

I loved this book - sexy, smart and tender, with a believable love story. Gideon is the ultimate alpha, but without being over the top, annoyingly arrogant or cold - he truly cares about Lucy in a very real, non-sappy way, and I really enjoyed seeing how they developed their relationship. Lucy was also a great character and, while she's been hurt before, she's not a pushover. The sex scenes were super steamy, with a delicious amount of tension built up throughout the story. Overall, another great read from the new Dare series!

I’ve just finished “Make Me Want” by Katee Robert, and I really enjoyed it. It’s book 1 in the Make Me, adult contemporary series. It tells the story of lawyer, Lucy and businessman Gideon. It’s a simple romance. I, however did think that there should have been a book before this one to set everything up, though.

There’s a lot of BDSM content so it’s not for readers under 18, I wouldn’t say.

I’ve unfortunately been ill between finishing “Make Me Want” and writing this review, onwards from here, so I don’t feel it’s right to write and explain quotes as my head isn’t completely there, still. I will however, try to explain my thoughts on the lack of backstory.

We’re introduced to Lucy and Gideon and then the story starts describing what happened in the past to the characters. There wasn’t anything to base this on, however as this is book 1 in the series. I checked when these past moments started happening frequently. It would have been helpful to have had either a first book or a prequel novella to describe previous events.

What did I like about “Make Me Want”?

* I liked how this was a short book. It was easy to get through.

* I liked how there weren’t any love triangles. Yes, there could have been with the backstory as well but there wasn’t. I appreciated this.

What didn’t I like about “Make Me Want”?

* I didn’t like the 3rd person narrative of the story. It worked but I think 1st person would have worked better. That’s just personal preference, though.


I’m giving “Make Me Want” 4 Stars because I thought it was a cute and fun read. It wasn’t necessarily deep but it also wasn’t trying to be anything more than it was, a fun, light adult read. I will be reading book 2 in this series!

This was a fantastic read. Smart, seductive and sensual, I was glued to the book from start to finish. I loved Lucy -- she was a strong, kick-ass heroine with a weak spot. Enter Gideon, an alpha male who ticked every one of Lucy's boxes except one -- he was strongly in the friend zone. I loved the push and pull between them, and found myself rooting for them to get their happily ever after. Katee Robert is a new author for me, but I'll be diving through her backlist, because she's exactly the kind of writer I love.

Katee Robert’s ‘Make Me Want’ is a lovely quick read that is full of emotions that creep in when you’re not looking, and reveal to you and the characters that it is never too late to grab onto what is perfect for you.
The story of Lucy and Gideon is full of tension from the start, with enough back story filtered through to set up how they know each other, and where they stood with one another, and where they do when they first see one another after two years. Lucy’s decided that it is time to get control over her life again, and to get what she wants, she knows she needs a husband. Yet, dating isn’t something that really fits into her life at the moment, so perhaps she can get some help in finding the perfect husband for herself. Cue the entrance of her old friend Gideon, a sought after headhunter that has close ties to the change in her life two years ago. Gideon is surprised by her proposition, and though he cannot completely identify his emotions, he does know one thing clearly, he wants to be there for her like he wasn’t before. History catches up with them, friends and family interject trying to help them do the right thing, and Lucy and Gideon are faced with owning up to what it is that they’re really feeling, that they’re perfect for one another.
I really enjoyed the story, the way they tried to be considerate of one another’s feelings, trying to do the best thing, the right thing, and finding out how to ensure that those desires match up so they both get what they want. The only thing I wish is that there had been a bit more of an emotional development for lovely Lucy. I could relate to so many of the issues that she bravely faces, especially regarding some of her insecurities, but whilst the resolution was entirely satisfactory, I wish there’d been just a bit more oomph when they get their HEA. I highly recommend this story, it made me smile, and made me have hope that there is love for everyone.

I have to say i thoroughly enjoyed this book, it was a breath of fresh air to a rubbish week.

I sat down to read this with a nice box of monty bojangles chocolates and before i knew it the chocolates were all gone and i was incapable of putting the book down.

Lucy is a lawyer, successful, on the partnership tract, but has just watched her friend get passed over for a promotion because she wasnt married. Lucy calls on her old friend Gideon who is a headhunter to help her find a husband. Lucy wants an arranged marriage but a true one and asks Gideon to find her someone that is ok with it. Lucy also asks Gideon to refresh her skills in the bedroom.

The thing is Lucy is quite skilled in the bedroom so this part didnt seem as believable as the rest of it, someone that was that timid around sex wouldnt of done any of the things that happened in this book but it was fun and sexy and i enjoyed reading it.

I really liked Gideon as a character, he was well rounded and charming and a lot deeper than i had thought he would be. There was some funny moments in the book too and i laughed out loud.

A good read.

This is in many ways typical of most modern relationships - they both work too hard and can't connect with others away from work. However, the central reason she re-connects with him (looking for support in finding a match) was a bit odd - surely any company wanting someone to marry (especially a female) to further their career would be breaking the law. And, additionally, a recently married female lawyer is more likely to be discriminated against because she is recently married and not because she is single. That didn't ring very true, nor did his motivation for not seeing her.

The relationship, however, rang very true. They were both brilliant characters but it just needed an editor to have a look at the odd implausibilities in the plot so that readers could get on with enjoying the relationship. There was a lot of sex - not all of it particularly well written and it seemed to head off into 50 shades territory and then veer away - that book has a lot to answer for, little of it very good. But, I enjoyed the characters but felt the ending came rather abruptly.
