I’ve been sitting on this review for a while because I was unsure how I felt about the book and some of the aspects in it. Hopefully now I've had time to figure out exactly what I want to say.
The Wives is the third installment in The Devil Wears Prada series, which I was completely unaware of when I started reading it. You could absolutely read it as a standalone novel but the references to Miranda Priestely are fun nods to the original book and as a fan of the movie I did like that.
The plot centers around a suspected drunk driving incident that gets taken over by the press and threatens to ruin lives in its wake.
My issue with the book comes from about ⅔ in where there's an intimate scene with extremely dubious consent. This completely took me out of the book and made me really uncomfortable as it was never addressed. The characters didn't seem to develop and felt slightly one dimensional which didn't lend itself to such a character driven book.
Overall it was a fine chick lit book but that one scene…

Have bought a range of more mature reads for the school library and this was a huge hit with staff and students alike. A good read that created plenty of opportunities for discussion -will definitely recommend

Firstly, I'd like to thank Netgalley and Harper Collins UK for the eARC for an honest review. I also got the audiobook from the Libby app (the library app).

While reading this I didn't really connect that it was part of the Devil Wears Prada series - I don't think it matters if you've read the other books. I had only read the first one. I ended up really liking this book and how it centred around women supporting women. The three FMC, Emily (Miranda Priestly’s ex-assistant), Karolina, and Miriam are all individually going through an important change in their lives but together they can support and use their strengths to fight against the struggles they are facing.

At first, I didn't really like Emily as a character - her personality took some getting used to but in the end I enjoyed her bitchiness and honesty. The other women had a great impact on her and I liked how her story ended. Miriam was my favourite of the three. I didn't enjoy The Devil Wears Prada (the book) but this focused on the struggles and the challenges that women face as they get older. I won't be reading the second book as I have't had heard good things but I definitely recommend this as a standalone novel.

My review:⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is book 3 in the Devil Wears Prada series, and I found the earlier two books to be quite uncomfortable in places, but I really enjoyed this book!

There is lots of drama, with three main story lines interweaving, one of which is Emily, from the first book!

I found the PR insights to be really interesting. It's an enjoyable story, with lots of ups and downs!

I was given this book in exchange for an unbiased review, so my thanks to NetGalley and to HarperCollins.

An easy read. A little bit too twee and stereotyping females doesn’t sit that well with me but do understand that it was needed for these characters.
Thanks to NetGalley for the eARC.

Honestly upon reading I struggled to continue, as it was less and less the sort of thing I would enjoy, but I can see others definitely would enjoy.

The Wives is a captivating new novel by Lauren Weisberger that will have readers on the edge of their seat until the very end. We follow three different women in the seemingly perfect town of Greenwich, Connecticut, who each have their own secrets to keep. Karolina Hartwell is hiding a deep-seated hurt, Miriam Kagan suspects her husband of something, and Emily Charlton is the outsider in town, with secrets of her own.

As the characters become further entrenched in the community and weave closer together, the intricate web of secrets is revealed, along with its chilling consequences. Weisberger creates an intensely suspenseful story, while delving into the human heart and examining how we carry the truths we want to keep hidden. The Wives is an unforgettable story that is sure to entertain readers long after they turn the final page.

A very enjoyable thriller about what women can achieve when they band together.
The characters were interesting and for the most part relatable and likeable and the plot ran smoothly and at a steady pace.
A couple of twists kept things unexpected and I enjoyed the ending.

I will not be giving feedback on this book as I couldn’t really get into it but I think others may enjoy it.

A much more enjoyable follow up than Revenge Wears Prada, however, I did find this a bit of a slog in parts and found myself eye rolling a bit. Who knows, maybe I'm growing out of the genre but if you're reading the books in the series I'd recommend stopping after the first.

Thanks to NetGalley, Harper Collins and Lauren Weisberger for an eArc copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

I so wish I had known this was the third book! I went in blind and I do wish I had known what it was about but that’s on me for not checking. Fun enough read but maybe I will read the first two books then go back and read this again. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

The Wives is the third book in the Devil Wears Prada series. I'll admit, I haven't read the first two books (although I've seen the movie) but this book does work as a standalone.

It follows three women over the course of a year. Emily Charlton, former assistant to Miranda Priestley at Runway magazine who is now a publicity manager for celebrities, and is happily married to Miles. Miriam Kagan, Emily's best friend who now lives in the suburbs with her husband Paul (who she suspects is cheating on her) and their three children, and Miriam's friend Karolina Hartwell, former model and Victoria's Secret angel who is married to Senator Graham Hartwell.

Their three lives intertwine when Karolina is arrested for supposedly drink-driving with her stepson and his friends in the car. She is adamant she was sober and was mistreated by the authorities. Her life falls apart around her and Miriam introduces her to Emily. Her estranged husband Graham is defaming her in public and she needs Emily's help to fight back.

I didn't find the plot particularly meaty but I liked the setting and background to these characters and I felt like I cared about them enough to continue reading. They are funny together and I loved the friendship they had developed as trio by the end.

I was desperate to read this one as I adored ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ and this was no disappointment. I loved the characterisation here and found the story to be so twisty and intriguing!

This was a thrilling read, that really entertained me until the end. I haven't read much by this author before, but I will add her now to my never ending TBR pile. Recommended.

Emily is a PR executive whose famous clients are exchanging her for a younger alternative. Miriam is a former city lawyer who has left work to raise her children. Karolina is a former supermodel who finds herself in the middle of a media frenzy when she is wrongfully accused of drunk driving with her child in the car. The three find themselves in the suburbs at the same time, and pull together to solve all three of their problems. In particular, Emily is determined to save Karolina’s reputation by proving that she has been framed, and in the process prove that she is the best in the industry.

This book is great light-hearted and fast-paced fun. Each of the three women have entertaining stories that keep you hooked, from professional to personal dramas that unfold throughout. They range from the everyday problems (showing up to social events having completely misunderstood the dress code), to more serious (thinking your husband is cheating on you), to life-changing (being framed as a drunk-driver). I liked how the story melded the light-hearted stories with the darker ones, so that it created a really realistic feel and kept the mood changing.

The characters have strong personalities which keep the story moving along. I also liked how each of the three women were fully-fleshed, and their backgrounds developed so that they were actually relevant to the story. For instance, Miriam's legal background comes into use in helping her friend, whilst Karolina's infertility problems are woven into her present day problems. No strand of their lives were left hanging, and everything tied in really well. My favourite of the three was Emily, whose witticisms in particular were hilarious, but overall I loved their friendship and how three such different women came together.

I didn’t realise until over 30% in that this book is actually the third instalment in The Devil Wears Prada series, and Emily is EMILY CHARLTON (AKA Emily Blunt). By that point, it was too late to stop and find a copy of the second, and I was enjoying it too much. Anyway, it didn’t bother me at all and didn’t get in the way of enjoying this one. Although the books are a series they seem to work well as standalones so don’t let that stop you! Yes, maybe I miss the story on how Emily meets her husband, or how and when she leaves Runway, but that wasn't relevant to the story in this book and anyting that I needed to know was in the book itself, so that I could enjoy it as a standalone. Plus it was a fun surprise when Miranda Priestley randomly popped up!

I really enjoyed this contemporary drama about three female friends navigating careers and motherhood. It was exactly the type of light read I wanted and I really recommend this series (at least, books 1 and 3!) if you are looking for some fun female-led dramas! At some point I will probably go back and read the second instalment to find out what I missed.

A long time has passed without reviewing this title, and therefore will not be reviewing at this time.

This is fun and frothy, but I didn't feel like I could relate to the characters much at all. I loved Emily and Karolina's respective dramas but didn't care as much about Miriam's husband and weight worries! Not really my favourite genre but enjoyable overall.
