Really enjoyed this. Three very different characters, the story follows their intertwined lives and emphasises the support the characters have for each other. A great read.

I have seen the movie The Devil Wears Prada and I'm aware of Lauren Weisberger as an author but I have not read any of her books. I found The Wives an enjoyable, easy read that is perfect if you are looking for some mindless entertainment. The characters are one-dimensional and there are too many cliches but if you want something a little bit ridiculous and OTT then it's a decent read!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a free e-copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

A revenge book par excellence!
Three women get together and, in sorting out each other’s lives, become firm friends.
Satisfying, fun, addictive, The Wives is an ideal holiday read. I loved it!

Absolutely brilliant book. Full of all the escapism and dreams of living the life of the rich and famous.
Each character was fully dimensional with equal amounts of flaws and charm.

This book had bite. I didn’t know what to expect and absolutely loved it. I love the fact that Miranda was in this even in the background, and her place in the final chapter was good.

This is a must-read but make sure you have time to not put it down!

Everyone’s favourite senior assistant is back and this time Emily is a no-nonsense PR agent rectifying a whole host of problems caused by her celebrity clients. When Emily visits an old friend in the suburbs, she ends up involved in a world full of bored housewives and cheating husbands, and helping former supermodel Karolina who is being framed for drunk driving by her husband.

This book is one to be taken lightly as everything that could be offensive in this book, is. None of the characters really hold back with their opinions and sometimes it can be a bit uncomfortable.

I loved the silly opulence in this book the shopping, the wealth, the occasional glamour and the general entertainment the book gave me ( a good book to read by the poolside in fairness). I did love seeing Emily - who was one of my favourite The Devil Wears Prada characters - and was reminded once again why I’d always prefer her as a friend who will always tell you how it is rather than an enemy.

The book does look a bit on housewives and the pressures sometimes put on wives to be perfect for their husbands at all times despite having several children (various talk about plastic surgery, particularly vaginal surgery!) as well as women struggling with their desire to raise children versus loving their job and wanting to work. There is also a touch on fertility issues in this too,

I do have to warn readers that this book is very fatphobic - sometimes to the point I was shocked that the author could get away with some of this stuff in 2019. It didn’t make me feel very good and I know a lot of it is shock factor but surely there’s a better way.

Oh, and for anyone wondering - Miranda Priestly does make a couple of appearances.

That will be all.

Overall i enjoyed this book, although not in comparison to some of the others written by the author. Good summer read.

Admittedly this is not my usual genre of book but I really enjoyed reading this.

It has good short and witty chapters and well written in that you really get to know the characters and how all of their stories interlock.

If you are looking for a book with lots of lies, deception and revenge then this is the book for you!

It was hard to put the book down halfway through!

Never read Devil wears Prada but this was fun. Enjoyed reading this book and the lives of wives in the suburbs! Lovely ending. Truly entertaining.

The Wives by Lauren Weisberger. In this book the saying, " We have three types of friends in life: friends for a reason, friends for a season and friends for a lifetime" ring true. The main characters in this book - Emily, Miranda, Karolina & Ashley rely on each other as they navigate their way through the challenges they face in their careers, marriages, and motherhood. When Karoline, an ex-top model and the wife of a US senator is stopped by the police for driving under the influence and spends the night the jail, all is not as it seems. Her friends come to her aid despite having their own gremlins to deal with. The book has some poignant moments interspersed with humor. If you are looking for a book to relax with or take on holiday, I will highly recommend this one.

My holiday book this summer. It made me laugh from the beginning, I loved the different women and how their friendships gelled. I did feel they need a bit more strength, however very readable and perfect for a beach summer read.

Definitely chick-lit, but well written and entertaining.
Karolina is arrested on DUI that wasn’t and her friend steps in to help drawing in another friend and the three become a team. The novel explores the ideas of modern female friendships and relationships with husbands. Fears of affairs, lack of sex, keeping a relationship alive, children and getting one’s own back. A funny read at times it was very entertaining. I didn’t realise that it was part of a series (The Devil Wears Prada) until I’d logged it on goodreads.

Lots of fun! Just lots. Really enjoyed it, loved being back in that world and seeing the characters slightly older, in different worlds.

Where have I been! I have just read my first Lauren Weisberger book, I have not even seen the film of her book, but that changes now.
I loved the book and need to read more, the characters were great (even Miranda) and I wish I had taken notice of my daughter when she suggested that I watch the devil wears prada as I feel I have been missing something.
I will certainly be reading more of her books.
Thank you netgalley

I didn't love this book. I was surprised how difficult i found it to finish considering how much i loved the Devil Wears Prada, but i think its more to do with the story than the writing. Just not really my thing but i do think it will be popular all the same.

I enjoyed this book. I felt it started slowly but by half way I was hooked.

Three wives, three problems, show that good friends conquer all.
Karolina Hartwell, the ex model, is arrested driving her son and his friends home, the only thing is she had only drunk half a glass of wine, there were empty bottles in her car that weren’t hers, and she wasn’t allowed a breathalyser despite asking for it. The following day the headlines have roasted her, together with the local mums. It seems nothing will stand in the way of her husband Graham’s political ambition – not even his wife.

Miriam Kagan, the lawyer, thinks her husband Paul is having an affair but is afraid to find out.

Emily Charlton, the spin doctor, is new to Greenwich, but she soon discovers this is a small town built on big lies. She is losing clients to a younger more tech savvy rival and takes on Karolina’s case to win them back.

This won’t rock your world but is a fun summer read.

Unfortunately, I had to DNF this book... I really didn’t enjoy it. I think all of the sexualisation at the start put me off, and I couldn’t get in to it as much as The Devil Wears Prada. That said, I do think the characters were well created, I just personally didn’t like them. But they were strong and the book was well written, but just not my personal taste.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a fun read with likeable characters and I couldn’t put it down.
