Thank you for a copy of this to read. I really enjoyed this, but I do think it stopped rather abruptly! Would have liked to have it ended after the birth of Emma's baby. Nevertheless, a great read and I will look out for more by the author

This was exactly what I needed! An entertaining perfect summer book. If you love Devil Wears Prada then do no hesitate to pick this up. I guarantee you'll be grinning when you finish it. A perfect summer read. Lighthearted & heartwarming.
If you're in an airport, go buy it already! You'll be finished before you're on the flight back home.

Like so many, I loved The Devil Wears Prada, so I was intrigued to read a follow up with everyone’s favourite assistant Emily as the lead.

I was expecting the feisty, bossy, fashion-loving Emily we all know. However, Emily is now a fixer/image consultant to Hollywood stars. Other than the odd mention of her past, nothing links this to the original book.

There is a lot of name dropping in the book, of people Emily has helped when they have gotten into trouble in the press, Emily supposedly helping Kevin Spacey’s image after ‘the fourteen year old’ was in very poor taste. There is also an unhealthy obsession with mentioning every characters size throughout the book.

Yet another poor sequel to The Devil Wears Prada (although still not as bad as Revenge Wears Prada).

Having never before read a Lauren Weisberger book, didn't actually realise this was in The Devil Wears Prada series until near the end. The good news is that it doesn't matter! I imagine fans of the original will enjoy the return of the characters but being completely new to them did not change my enjoyment of the book. I absolutely loved the story - sure it's all a little stereotyped - but as long as you know what you're getting I find it hard to see how you couldn't love the story. I thoroughly recommend it!

Brilliant. Whether you have read the original book or not you will soon be immersed in the lives of these three very different wives. Karolina was my favourite but the way her friends lives interweaved with her marital misery was very readable. Hope this is not the last we have heard of these particular wives.

I love Lauren’s witty take on how Emily’s life is post ‘Runway’ and Miranda Priestley. I could picture every scene as if it was watching this on screen. Funny, heart warming and at times heart wrenching all at the same time. Highly recommend!

I really enjoyed this lighthearted, fun read about 3 friends who help each other out in various difficult situations. One of the friends is Emily from 'The Devil Wears Prada' and I thoroughly enjoyed the update of her, her marriage and her ongoing relationship with Miranda Priestley. Having said that, this is a stand alone book and it's not necessary to have read any previous ones - just good fun if you can.

It covers infidelity, motherhood, moving to the suburbs and much, much more and it flies along with gusto. I found it charming, funny, sad and such an easy read.

A definite one for the beach!

Thanks so much to netgalley and Harper Collins for the opportunity to preview this book in exchange for an honest review.

The glamorous setting, polished plot and vivid characters make 'The Wives' an easy to read, enjoyable story that you'll find difficult to put down.

On New Year's Eve, events conspire to bring three women together to fight injustice. Their seemingly perfect lives are not as glossy as they first appear. Rekindling old friendships and making new ones they unite against the man who seeks to destroy one of them and find the elusive happiness they all still seek despite their material wealth.

There is plenty of humour in this story as the women encounter the wives of Connecticut, but there is an underlying poignancy as they realise material possessions and retaining youth do not necessarily bring happiness.

A fast-paced story of revenge, friendship and power, written from multi-points of view which adds to the interest and depth to the women's characters. They are easy to empathise, and this makes the book a perfect holiday read.

I received a copy of this book from Harper Collins - Harper Fiction via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

The Wives is an immensely enjoyable book, Emily is an image consultant in Hollywood...think of Scandals Olivia Pope, Miriam previously a top lawyer has moved to the suburbs with her three children and husband who is now a dot-com millionaire after selling off his company and Karolina a former super model who has had her reputation shredded by her husband a junior senator who has (without a word to karolina) aspirations to become a president elect, and feels he will need a new wife to aid his progress.
You know it's a good read when your heart starts racing and you feel so angry at the injustice done to one of the main characters. With Emily feeling she's loosing her grip as the top image consultant, Miriam feeling she just a childminder and lady that lunches and poor Karolina treated so disgustingly bad by her husband, together they have their work cut out for them, can they do it?.......oh yes and so well.
A satisfying finale to an engrossing story.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for opportunity to review this book.

Loved The Devil Wears Prada so I was happy to get hold of this book which also features the redoubtable Miranda Priestly. It’s holiday fluff, full of nonsense about what people are wearing and designer decor (from throw pillows to vaginas!) but exactly what you expect and enjoy from Lauren Weisberger. I liked the satisfying revenge plot and appreciated this light hearted summer beach read.

Devil Wears Prada meets Ab Fab! Hilarious book that kept me smiling to the end. Good easy escapism for a summer read.

Coming to this straight from a re-read of The Devil Wears Prada, I had high hopes, only to see them dashed by this incredibly thin, dialled-in follow-up which sees Emily Charlton, post- Vogue, working freelance as an 'image consultant''. (NOT a career move I would ever imagine the Vogue -and magazine- obsessed Emily ever moving into.

There's little character development, more a character regression as Emily's character becomes ever more thinly stretched as the story labours to its close. I struggled to finish it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 fun stars

This is a book that you can read in a day while on holiday sitting by the pool.

Simple writing, simple characters, light hearted. It does start a bit slow and it does feel like a book written to be a movie however I enjoyed it.

Having seen the The Devil Wears Prada on the big screen (sadly not read the book), I was familiar with Emily Charleton, Miranda Priestly’s assistant, and The Wives (or as it’s known in America, ‘When Life Gives You Lululemons‘ is the story of Emily post Miranda. The story follows 3 friends, Emily Charleton (image consultant), Karolina Hartwell (ex super model and wife to possibly the next president), and Miriam Kagon (ex law partner and full time Mum), all of whom are dealing with their own crises. They come together as fantastic friends and a formidable team to oversea and help each other. I loved all their personalities, you couldn’t get 3 more different women, yet together they work so well. Fantastic writing in multiple POV, I was laughing, I was sympathising, I actually wanted to climb in the book and help these ladies. I felt their pain and their laughter. A wonderful read that will stay with me for a long time to come. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest review.

This novel of this author's did not work for me (this time). The contexts which worked before for the people straining for significance in the shallow world of fashion undermined real characterisation - it felt contrived to me. I bet next one in what appears to be linked novels will be better ...

As a big fan of The Devil Wears Prada, having read that book several times over (and having watched the film multiple times) I was really keen to read a book from the perspective of the other assistant in that book - Emily. She was bitchy, bright and bold so a perfect character to use as the protagonist here.

The Wives is a fun, frothy book that makes for an easy summer beach read - celebrity name-dropping, gorgeous apartments (and people), an unfair situation to solve, female friendships, issues with pregnancy and children.

If I were new to this author, I think I would love the book all the more. I'm not sure if it's that my taste in books has evolved since I read the first book or whether it's that there's less of the appallingly wonderful Miranda in The Wives to help drive things, but I'd take a star off here (just the one!) because I was expecting to love it as much as I'd loved Weisberger's first.

I also really loved the alternative US title given - When Life Gives you Lululemons and think it's really clever. I'm sure there was a very good reason for changing it, but just wanted to note: I'd be happy buying it under the original title.

Many thanks to NetGalley, HarperCollins UK, HarperFiction and Lauren Weisberger for a copy of this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I have read a number of Lauren Weisbergers books and they never disappoint. Absolutely perfect beach/holiday read. I read it in one sitting whilst on holiday and it made me laugh out loud (so much so I got some funny looks). Cant wait for the next book.

Lauren Weisberger is one of these authors I always like to read, no matter what she writes. I love her writing and her characters. Two years ago, she managed to make me interested in tennis with her book The Singles Game and now she is back with one of my favorite characters from her novels. When I was reading The Devils Wears Prada and Revenge Wears Prada my favourite character wasn’t Andy, the protagonist, but Miranda Priestly’s other assistant, Emily Charlton. I enjoyed her determination and her fierceness and I am really happy the author wrote a book focusing on her.

No more calls in the middle of the night, no more demanding, unclear, and crazy requests. No more Miranda Priestly and Runway. And no more New York because Emily and her husband Miles have moved to sunny Los Angeles. Now Emily is a celebrity consultant but she is losing her clients to the younger competition. She is still though and sassy as usual, but also caring (even if she tries to not show it too much). After she flies to New York for a consultation and she is fired before she is even hired, Emily decides to spends a few weeks in Greenwich, Connecticut, with her friend Miriam.

Miriam and Emily met in college. Miriam was a successful lawyer, but after leaving her job, having three children, her husband selling his start-up, and the family moving from Manhattan to Greenwich, Miriam starts to doubt her decisions, her marriage, and her life in general.

At 37, Karolina is still a beautiful woman. A former model and the wife of a senator rumored to be the next president, Karolina’s life focuses on her son. Her life turns upside down when she is arrested for a DUI and her husband divorces her and banishes her to Greenwich. She knows she’s been set up and she is ready to do anything to clear her name and get her son back.

Between baby showers and sex toys parties, these three women will rely on each other to get what they want. I loved reading about their friendship and how they support each other. These three women are completely different from each other and yet their friendship is true and loyal.

Full of hilarity, unexpected moments, and engaging and likabeble characters, THE WIVES is a riveting novel about strong female friendship and women empowerment. If you liked The Devil Wears Prada, you are going to really love this novel. It is the perfect summer read to enjoy by the poolside (if you can) and I’d like to thank Harper Fiction for providing me with an early copy of this brilliant novel.

The Wives is a fast moving and very entertaining read. The characters are well drawn and either made me laugh out loud or cringe at their behaviour. They are a combination of those who you would love to spend time with and those you instantly despise and who deserve everything they get.
