One in a Million was a story that contained many elements that I expected to come together in a wonderful way. In fact, when I was describing the elements to my friend, she thought it sounded fun. Then I told her why it wasn’t working for me, and she was as disappointed as I was.

For me, sadly, this book was far too predictable. That is not necessarily a bad thing, but for predictable to be fun other elements need to stand out. Sadly, that was not the case. In fact, I found so much of this to be underdeveloped or focused on the wrong thing. I would call it awkward, but that implies there could be amusement in the awkwardness… yet such was not the case. There was a lack of anything to be felt between the characters, a lack of growth for them, and none of the amusement the possibilities promised. In fact, the only amusement I felt was at the end of the story – by which point, it was too little too late.

This is one of those cases where I can see people enjoying the elements in the book, yet they were not combined in a way that made me fall for them. Largely, I think this is a case of “it is me not the book” again.

Unfortunately this book was not for me, it was a bit slower than I would like and it just didn't hold my attention. I am sure other people will love it!

Annie Higgins is competitive and has recently started her own online business with her best friend Miranda and has given up completely on love. She’s very busy getting her small business going. Furious with the advertising agency across the way laughing at her she takes on a crazy impossible challenge. She has just 30 days to make a random stranger famous online. They chose Dr Samuel Page PhD whose a historian and detests social media. Annie is going to win this bet no matter what regardless of whether Sam likes it or not. As she gets to know Sam she learns more about herself and then has a decision to make.
This book is funny and kept me interested as I was desperate to know what was going to happen at the end. I would recommend this book. Thank you to netgalley for the chance to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

I really enjoyed this book and would read more from this author. May have been first but won't he the last.

Annie is running a unique high-tech company and too busy to enjoy life or find love, until one day... The book is a light-hearted look at life, love and romance in the 21st century, however, there are so many references to Zoella, iPads and Buzzfeed that I think this book might stay in the twenty-teens, and actually become dated.

Definitely an easy beach read, but too light and fluffy for my liking, or maybe I am a bit old for it. Thanks NetGalley for the chance to read and review.

Another Tuesday - they're rolling around so quickly, lately. I'm feeling a little snowed under at the moment and like a bit of a bad friend as I've been struggling to keep up with everyone. Ugh.

Anyhow, I've been trying hard to make time for reading, even if it's just by leaving my phone outside of my bedroom or downstairs, to stop me messing on apps before bed (even though there seems to be a bit of a Plants vs. Zombies tournament going on in my house at the moment), and reading instead. Even that half hour or so has made such a difference and I'm working my way through so many books on my Kindle.

This week, I've read One in a Million. Annie Higgins has a start-up social media company and is determined to make it a success. She makes a bet with another company in her building that she can't make the next person to walk through the door "insta-famous" within the next thirty days. So far, so She's All That, no?

Naturally, the victim of the bet is the most uncool, social-media shunning academic, who also happens to work in their building. Annie is not deterred and peppering every conversation with references to social media stars and current trends, she sets aside time in her working week to focus on winning this bet.

The book is a funny, light-hearted look at modern day technologies versus traditional values and how they could work should they come together. There are so many references to Zoella, iPads and Buzzfeed that I think this book might stay in the twenty-teens, but it was an enjoyable read nonetheless.

Annie is running a new tech company and doesn't have time for love - until she encounters Charlie and Sam - which one will win her heart. Light, easy read - very enjoyable.

I enjoyed this book. It was. Little predictable but a lovely read for the summer. Will look out for more by the author.

“A month ago I hadn’t even known that he existed and now I couldn’t imagine a day without him in it. “

Grab a cup of tea and dive into this book - a lighthearted and warm romance about unlikely friendships.

Annie Higgins has given up on love as she works hard trying to get her business off the ground. Across the hall, an advertising agency pokes fun at her and her job and so Annie accepts their challenge to make a random strange Instagram-famous in just thirty days.

As my first introduction into Lindsey Kelk’s writing, this was a great start and I definitely want to read her other fourteen publications (to date!) It’s the kind of book that’s easy to read on holiday, on the beach, on a plane or curled up by the fire and yet there are so many underlying messages that make this anything but another chick lit read.

Told entirely from Annie’s perspective with a handful of likeable secondary characters added to the mix, this is an interesting and enjoyable read.

I love Lindsey Kelk’s I Heart...series and this is her first standalone novel I have read. One in a Million did not disappoint, with its endearing characters, humour, and pacy plot. This is romantic fiction at its best, with a heroine we all love and the two different men in her path. Absolutely fabulous!

A fun and frothy chick lit read from Lindsey Kelk. Funny and touching in places although, from an entirely personal viewpoint, too heavily centred around social media and it's inevitable pitfalls. Perhaps geared towards a younger audience than this particular reader - so, whilst not one for me, I can fully appreciate that there is certainly an audience for 'One in a Million'.

I have to admit this was really not my thing at all. I detest social media, i mean really detest it and this book is really heavy on social media and i have to admit i really struggled with this book and could only stomach reading a chapter at a time before i got so irritated that i had to read something else.

Written for teenagers and not grown women.

I have read and enjoyed all of Lindsey Kelk's books, and this one was no exception. Very funny and very on trend re. the social media aspects. I read the whole book in one sitting on a long haul flight (which is unusual for me).

Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. I liked this book but wish it had a bit more of a storyline in places it was too wishy washy for me.

What a fantastic feel good read, I loved every minute of this book from the laugh out loud bits to the crying out NO and crying into a cup of tea. A really lovely read.

Fun to read, quick and funny with enough romance for anyone. Social media was bound to start appearing in novels sooner or later and here is as good a starting point as any

A light frothy romance for the pool or beach

What’s not to love ?

As a blogger who deals with PR companies on a regular basis, I had a vested interest in this book from the start. The author has a true feel for working in and around social media and she hit every nail on the head when it comes to deadlines, editing and creating perfect content. I hope that there is a little of Annie in everyone I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with.

I loved this book and found it really easy to read and finished the book within a few sittings - it would be the perfect holiday read.

I found myself laughing at some of the oneliners main character Annie comes out with during her troubled times and I really enjoyed reading her story. Although a stand-alone novel I'd love to read spin-offs featuring other characters in the series as there is so much we need to know about them all.

This was my first novel by the author but it certainly won't be the last - I'm looking forward to diving head first into the I heart series next.

Thank you to Harper Collins for my copy of this book via Netgalley. My love for Lindsey's writing goes back a long way. I am lucky enough to have met Lindsey several times and I am truly honoured to be on this tour!

The first thing I was excited about with this book came in the first few pages. There's a cross over! Oh how I love a cross over. Nothing excites me more than a cross over. It makes the characters seem even more real when they meet each other. I won't tell you which character it is but they are from the A Girl Series! I nearly screamed when I saw it. It was magical.

Now I have that off my chest I really should talk about the rest of the book. The main character Annie is instantly likeable. She's funny, she's hardworking, she's passionate and she's downright ballsy. Oh and one more thing she is bloody competitive. I love her. I love how she doesn't give up and that she is always up for a challenge.

Now I'm going to move on to Dr Samuel Page, or Sam as Annie likes to call him. Sam is essentially stuck in the past. He is a historian with a flip phone! I mean who still has a flip phone these days? Although I do miss that satisfying slam when you end a bad conversation. It's not quite the same when you press the end call button is it? Sorry I'm digressing Sam is rather reluctant to have any form of social media and it take quite some persuading and perseverance from Annie to get him involved. I liked Sam. He was such a different person to Annie but somehow there was a spark there. He is funny in a completely different sense to Annie but I loved it all the same.

Apart from the cross over (which I am still giddy about) one of the things that I really enjoyed in this book was the humour. I love a man that can make me laugh and the same is true of a book. Laughter is so infectious and funny books have me turning page after page after page.

I also loved the bet and follower count updates on some of the chapters. I love things like this, they make things a little different.

Lindsey got the pace spot on with this story. I could have carried on in this world for a lot longer than jus
