I seriously would have given this book 5 stars if there was just a little more detail, more of a hint to her past, or something more about this.

I loved how this story goes back and forth from Abby's to Jonah's perspectives. Obviously, it is more of Abby's perspective for the most part but I like that it includes Jonah's when it becomes more necessary. Forgiveness of others is a hard thing. Forgiveness of one's self is even harder. Trusting again is something very hard to do. Abby seemed to be ready to finally do that and the rest falls into place.

Eva Grace is adorable and so innocent. She has been through some hard things physically, but just as most kids, she's resilient to it all.

There is one love scene that can easily be skipped. Other than that, this book is very clean.

Having read all of Cindy Kirk's Good Hope books, I was looking forward to reading this one and seeing how it compared. I was pleasantly surprised that although the perfect characters live in another perfect small town, they were tackling some heavy issues. When Abby is advised by everyone to abort a supposedly imperfect baby, I found myself cheering and praising her (and Ms. Kirk) for coming down on the side of life! I don't think I could have kept reading if she hadn't, and it was one of the things I loved most about the story.

I enjoyed most of the secondary characters, presented as friends of Abby, but I just couldn't relate to Nell. She is a successful lawyer, but also has an odd part-time job of impersonating the town of Hazel Green's founder of the same name. Perhaps I'm just cynical, but I guess I didn't quite "get" it.

Overall a nice, light read with the beautiful themes of embracing life with all of its struggles, forgiveness, and redemption.

After being a loyal reader of Ms. Kirk's Good Hope Series, I had been eagerly awaiting her new series, Hazel Green, and she does not disappoint.

This series also takes place in a small town, this time outside of Chicago. By being a surrogate to her friend Jonah and his wife Veronica, Abby Fine makes the ultimate sacrifice of keeping the child that was going to have developmental issues according to the doctor.

After 5 years, Jonah reappears in Abby's life, wanting to be a part of Abby's and his child's life. The book shows the maturation of all characters, as well as a child's charm and innocence.

One Fine Day was One Great Read, and I am looking forward to learning more about the other citizens of Hazel Green.

One Fine Day is the first book in the Hazel Green series by Cindy Kirk. Hazel Green is the small town that where it takes place and who doesn't like a small town setting. All the great character you will fall in love with and see in all the books in this series. This one involves a surrogate mom and a unexpected ending. I really enjoyed it as I always do with Cindy's stories..

If you like small town, second chance romances you will enjoy this book.

Abby was so strong, you had to admire her strength and conviction. It did bother me a bit that she wasn't willing to address the situation, so when Jonah appeared, she was thrown off guard. I did like that she was able to be flexible enough to open herself up to listen to her friends advice, and once again, do what was best for her daughter.I

I didn't understand how Jonah could not manage to support his "best" friend after she made her decision. I understood him wanting to support his wife, but he could have found a way to do both. Thankfully, he redeemed himself.

I also found the vintage dressing theme to be interesting. I am looking forward to what I hope will be future books about Abby's friends. Nell and Rachel definitely have stories to tell.

Readers are introduced to the town of Hazel Green in the first book of a series. We meet Abigail (Abby) Fine. A transplant that inherited a hotel from an unknown aunt. Abby has a 5 year old daughter who is not biologically related to her. Abby was a surrogate for a couple, Jonah and Vanessa. Jonah was Abby’s best friend for many years and is the biological father of Abby’s daughter, Eva Grace.

You don’t really know where this book is going for a while. Where it ends up is a magical journey of love and trust. This town has captured my heart already and I want to know more.

I loved the premise of the surrogate mother keeping the baby after the parents didn't want it-- so much to work with, but as this was a romance novel, there wasn't a lot done with that story line. I also couldn't fully sympathize with the main hero.

This is the first Cindy Kirk book I've read, and I have to say I enjoyed this romance with a difference. Abigail is a strong character and a worthy heroine. I would recommend this book as an entertaining way to spend an hour or two.

Plus, the little girl is such a sweet addition to the story!

One Fine Day is geared towards those who enjoy reading contemporary second-chance and friends-to-relationship romances.

Oh WOW what a book. I read it in 24hours, I simply couldn’t put it down. The characters are well rounded and very likeable. The story was something I’ve not read before, it’s a full on love story with a twist....with the twist that they already have a child together. I can see a whole series coming our way with these characters. I will 100% recommend this book to my friends for a feel good book :)

I was so excited to read this first book in a new series!! I loved Abby and especially adored Ava Grace. Although Jonah somewhat redeemed himself - I still wanted to punch him for being a moron. Abby is a wonderful mom that ALWAYS puts her daughter first! I can't wait to read the next installment in this series - there were so many unanswered questions.

What a great story! I love this quaint new town that Cindy Kirk has created for her next series! What an interesting social issue she brings to light also! What would you do if you were faced with Abby's situation? I can't wait to see what happens next in Hazel Green!

An awesome read, that I could not put down. Best friends forever, Abby and Jonah would do anything for each other. Even for Abby to become a surrogate for Jonah and his wife, but one day will change the lives for everyone involved. Fast forward five years, Jonah has come to Hazel Green for forgiveness. But can they leave the past behind and move forward.

A great start to a new series set in Hazel Green (ok, so I was a little nervous to leave Good Hope) that I fell with the quaintness of the town and a great cast of characters. Abby is a very strong independent woman. Jonah is asking for forgiveness but he know he needs to prove himself. Loved the letters. I can't wait to revisit this town! I highly recommend this book

Abby being a good friend agreed to surrogate for her friend and his wife. Carrying a child is a feeling and attachment like no other whether you are biologically related or not. You bond and breath every breath for that child. Being put in a position to protect this child after being told of potential defects she hold her ground and continues to carry this child as her own. Years go by and the Jonah her friend makes a return hoping fix what happened years prior and know his child. It will take a lot of work to get back into Abby and Eva Graces life. Abby has a great support system so she doesn't have to run and totally depend on Jonah. While reading this book you hope a happily ever after.

One Fine Day is a book about friendship, broken promises and a mother’s love for her child. These themes resonated with me and I read Abby and Jonah’s story in one day. Abby and Jonah are given a once in a life time chance for a do over— an opportunity to come to terms with their past and move ahead.

The prologue draws the reader into the story immediately. Abby Fine agreed to be a surrogate for her childhood friend Jonah Rollins and his wife Veronica. Complications with the pregnancy are discovered; the Rollins’ decide to walk away from their special needs child. She is determined to continue with the pregnancy. This decision impacts every aspect of Abby’s life—she is cut off financially and emotionally from the entire Rollins family—she is on her own.

Five years later, Abby is running the Inn at Hazel Green which she inherited from distant relative. She and her daughter Eva Grace are part of the tight- knit Hazel Green community. Eva Grace captured my heart. She reminded me of a doll—blue eyes and curly blond hair. Eva Grace has big personality and her enthusiasm for life jumps off the pages! Abby’s devotion and patience with her daughter shines through in each page of this novel.
Cindy Kirk’s descriptive writing style enables the reader to connect to Abby. I could hear the joy in Abby’s voice when she talked about her child and feel the hurt when she reminisced about Eva Grace’s surgeries. My heart broke when Abby’s thoughts brought her back to the day that Eva Grace was born. Frightened and alone, she reached out to Jonah. I felt her pain and severe disappointment –Jonah never responded to her phone call or her text. I understood Abby’s desire to raise Eva Grace and provide a happy safe life for her. Abby has been there every day for child—through many painful surgeries and sleepless nights. Jonah’s monthly letters to Eva Grace and Abby and the support money he sent in the letters provided a connection between Abby and Jonah. The fact that Abby didn’t read the letters but saved them intrigued me – why did she keep them?

Abby’s ability to put her child’s best interests first and to forgive are tested when Jonah becomes the new police officer of Hazel Green. Her inner strength is tested when Jonah makes it clear that he has moved to Hazel Green to get to know his child and repair his relationship with Abby. Jonah mentions that he wrote to Abby that he had accepted the position in Hazel Green and that he was divorced. He is amazed when Abby tells him that she has not opened his letters.

Cindy Kirk uses the backstory technique to provide insight into both Abby and Jonah’s history. Jonah’s backstory is woven into the story and it allowed the reader to gain perspective on his choices, his situation. Loved the scenes when Jonah explains to Abby what factors led him to side with his wife. This revelation is important as it gave insight into Jonah’s situation and his decision making. The author subtly introduces the idea that not all choices are black and white and that life experiences impact the choices you make. My favorite scene in the book is when Abby decides to read each one of Jonah’s letters—this decision opens her heart towards forgiveness.

One Fine Day has all the feels; it’s an emotional story which tugs at your heart from the first page. The characters are honest and the dialogue is superb—and Eva Grace will capture your heart. The themes of loss, forgiveness and love are told with compassion and humor.

Abigail got the short end of the stick when she was trying to help a friend, and it backfired in a good/bad way. Her ex-best friend Jonah wants back into Abigail's life and will not take no for an answer. This is a great story about forgiveness and learning to change your mind and your future. Change is always scary, but sometimes necessary to move forward in the direction God has meant for you to go all along!
