This book was so gripping I finished it in one sitting. The action scenes and the build up to the hurricane really grabbed my attention and had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. The medical scenes and the evacuation scenes were very detailed and well written. The two leads had great chemistry and were both likeable characters. My only complaint is that the relationship developed too quickly with a bit of insta-love going on. It also would have been nice to see some more of the aftermath of the hurricane.

Anyone who has read Radclyffe's work knows that they can expect quality content and this book is no exception. I was a bit hesitant to pick up this book--I haven't read a First Responders novel in a while--but I need not have worried. This book can be read as a stand alone (although it did inspire me to go back and read the three books I have not read). The hurricane scenes hit too close to home (I was in Puerto Rico during Hurricane Maria), but I loved the medical scenes which took me back to watching Chicago Hope and ER (yes, I am dating myself) back in the day.

Book seven on this series and Radclyffe is still going strong. I really love this series and Radclyffe rarely lets me down.

This one is about a very nasty storm approaching Florida. The book acknowledges the brave men and women of the emergency services. Yes, it is set in America but the story is the same throughout the world. It's a seriously good read with a nice slow burn romance. The romance for me was secondary as I really enjoyed the action and tension.

All seven first responders books are self contained. You can read this one without missing anything. For me this is another high standard book from Radclyffe and I definitely recommend it. Enjoy!

I really enjoy Radclyffe’s First Responders series. I like strong characters and the two main characters were definitely that. Their chemistry was definitely there from the start. I liked the mixing of real life events because it makes it more realistic and increases your ability to relate to what is going on. Tragic and traumatic events can bring people closer and definitely did in this book. I think they maybe got to the “I love you” part a little quick, but I really enjoyed this book overall

I liked the story and the romance. I felt there would have been more of a conflict between the two woman due to the fact that they were both the leaders in their own fields. The author seemed to be making an issue of who would be in charge at the beginning of the book and quickly dropped it. That kind of bothered me.

A good offering by the author, it was very rich in medical and emergency management details (which I enjoyed), but scarce on the intimacy and affection between the primary characters. While that can be anticipated in dire conditions like those that the characters were confronting, this latest novel in the series was the least enjoyable.

Classic Radclyffe. Good storytelling, likeable characters and a well written plot. I learned loads about storms and the National Guard and enjoyed every minute. Dara and Sawyer are both well developed and the ego tussle between them is credible which makes the denouement satisfying. This is an excellent series which gives a master writer free rein to introduce new plots, new people and new ideas. Recommended if you like Radclyffe and the First Responders series, she is on form.

Radclyffe always manages to write compelling romance stories with interesting backdrops. This is no exception with Dr. Dara Sims and Colonel Sawyer Kincaid taking us through a whirlwind story with Tropical Storm Leo at the helm.
Whilst I enjoyed the story and the initial connection of the characters, the rapid development of the relationship was perhaps a little too much tell rather than show and the depth of their relationship development was a bit shallow.

This was a well written book. I also liked how it was a little bit of a slow burn. Both main cheat tees were amazing, but I always love stories about women in the armed services. There is something so noble about Sawyer and the sacrifices she makes. Dara is an interesting character but not really flushed out. We don’t really get much about the heiress thing other than a few small subtle clues. Those clues also made it seem like she had some bad past story but one never came up. You never learn much about Dara other than she an heiress and a doctor whose mother likes attention and whose dad left them. It just didn’t seem like enough of a backstory. Otherwise this is one of my favorite first responder novels. I can’t wait to read he next one.

The latest of Radclyffe’s First Responder series, this time more of a disaster/action romance, with the emphasis on the action rather than the romance. I loved the story, I loved the characters and the pace and content of the book was wonderful until about three quarters of the way through. The last part of the book seemed a bit rushed, some characters and stories not followed up, the romance rushed through; rather spoiled it for me.

This is the seventh book in the First Responders series. I have read all of Radclyffe’s books and have enjoyed each one. This is a typical Radclyffe romance with plenty of romance and action.

The two main characters are National Guard Colonel Sawyer Kincaid and Dr. Dara Sims, the Chief of Emergency Services at Miami Memorial Hospital. Danger comes in the form of Hurricane Leo. Sawyer is called to prepare for the impact of the hurricane and to set up the rescue services in South Florida. Miami Memorial is established as the hospital which will provide emergency medical treatment. During the hours leading up to Hurricane Leo’s landfall, the sexual tension builds between the two women then explodes.

The plot is a good one. Details of the storm are quite realistic. Character development is well done. I enjoyed getting to know Dara and Sawyer while Radclyffe builds a suspenseful, action-packed drama.

The First Responders series is a wonderful platform to highlight the exceptional men and women in dangerous professions. Radclyffe’s medical background is so beneficial as she portrays the individuals with honest assessment of the duties they must perform under possible life-threatening situations.

Radclyffe fans will certainly enjoy this novel. Those readers new to her works will quickly become fans. I rate this book 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Radclyffe, is one of my favourite authors, but I don't think this is up there with her best. Sawyer and Dara are great characters, both strong and know what they want. The story starts off thrilling and you can feel the attraction but then I felt that it all became a bit tepid and rushed. Not sure if I liked the jumping back and for to the National Hurricane Center, it didn't seem to do much for the story line.
Saying that would I recommend, yes...... Radclyffe is always worth a read

Radclyff is one of my favorite authors but this is not one of her best. The romance came very soon in the book, sex scenes tepid. She normally drags the romance out until you want to scream "please say you love her" I was a bit confused about the timing of the hurricane also. When was the worst part? And suddenly it was past? Unfortunately I felt it was not very suspenseful and pretty ordinary story that rapped up very quickly and easily in the end.

I love disaster movies so this book was right up my street. I could see this story being made into a movie as it was fast-paced, full on action from start to finish. National Guard Colonel Sawyer Kincaid is put in charge of the preparations for Hurricane Leo which is about to hit Florida and predicted to cause major damage. She must coordinate with Dr Dara Sims of Miami Memorial Hospital, but neither woman is used to giving way when it comes to decision making. Their interactions are intense from day one but they must stay focused on the job in hand. The slow build up of emotions and heat between them is entirely believable and feels right. I enjoyed the scientific aspects of the story too and appreciated how Radclyffe tied in the reports from the National Hurricane Center. It certainly ramped up the tension level. Both main characters were strong women with successful careers but their loves lives were lacking due to issues from the past. When they met everything just seemed to click into place.

A fairly slow start to this novel. Obviously well researched on extreme weather emergency response and recovery. For me I found the build up to landfall to be too detailed and to the detriment of building the romance side of the story. I didn’t feel the two characters had time to build a connection and I found this disappointing. Overall a decent book but lacking in tension and character build - not up to the standard I usually see from Radclyffe.

Dangerous Waters is now my favorite book by the prolific author, Radclyffe. In the past, I’ve found her main characters (one with dark hair/dark eyes; one with light hair and blue eyes) to be cardboard cutouts of the same archetype. Even though Sawyer and Dara fit the bill, physically, there are certain nuances to their characters that made them seem much more relatable to me despite the fact that I am neither a medical nor an armed forces hero.

The book is very timely as it follows the countdown until tropical storm Leo hits and devastates south Florida. Radclyffe simultaneously follows the preparation and response from the viewpoints of the Coast Guard and the medical staff at the hospital bearing the brunt of those who have been injured.

I usually have a problem with the love at first sight trope, but in this case, the connection between Sawyer and Dara makes sense. They have so much in common despite their completely different backstories. They both inhabit a world in which they exist under extreme demands. They both are dedicated to the people they serve and they mutually respect each other and don’t want or expect the other to change who they are. I also liked seeing two alpha females negotiating the power dynamic inside and outside of their relationship.

I also really liked how this book didn’t follow the normal romance formula. There are certain aspects of the narrative that are a little outside the box and I appreciated that.

All in all, this was a very satisfying read.

National Guard Colonel Sawyer has faced trying times but now she’s ready to enjoy her time off on the beaches of South Florida. Dara Sims is a doctor treating her patients in the intensive care unit at Miami Memorial. The two meet when Tropical Storm Leo makes its way to Florida and Sawyer is put in charge of managing the evacuation of the storms path but Dara can’t move her patients to a safer place, the move could kill them. Radclyffe has given us another great read. Plus I find when I read one of her books I’m not only entertained but come away knowing more then when I started. Very nice read.

Well executed action romance

As a Florida resident for many years I think Radclyffe did an amazing job of portraying the attitudes, challenges and dangers that prevail during hurricane threats. Dara and Sawyer were both well developed strong women usually so involved with taking care of others they haven't allowed many people into the inner circles of their lives. I thought the growing awareness and romance was handled very believably. The plot line held my attention to the very end.

I have really never experience the devastation like what I was reading and I felt every experience. The main characters Sawyer and Dara chemistry was great it didn't feel force at all and Catherine I just wanted to throttle.
The one thing I didn't get was when Catherine was out forecasting in the weather and the water was rinsing and the camera went blank how did she get out.? I couldn't believe how casual Ana was when she spotted the alligator I know for one I would have been freaking out. Overall I truly like this especially what it takes to mobilize when a storm is taking place.
