I found the book interesting, but very repetitive. I think it could have been at least 100 pages shorter. However, the scientific part is very well explained and the diet proposed very well justified.

. The actual diet plan seems like your typical eat healthy thing that we have seen before. It doesn't claim that all fats are bad, so it is pretty standard nowadays compared to some bad info that was spread in the past decades. The real issue here is with the protein intake. Very few scientific bits are cited, and the ones that are, are self-reporting studies that don't differentiate between qualities of meat. Just that they came to the conclusion that people that ate more meat tend to die sooner. While this is probably true in a respect, those people are also the ones likely eating bacon, salami, and other fatty meats. But what is the result if you eat relatively lean meats, such as chicken or eye of round? The book goes on to say this diet is the best because it mimics the diet of people in places where lots of centenarians live. That may be why they lived so long, but it could also be genetic, environmental, or activity levels (which he also says plays a large role) in how long people tend to live. So on the diet side, it is a bit light on scientific studies.
