Another lovely story I enjoyed. I love the characters Maggie Hope has created and the plot is just as good. Looking forward to reading more books.

Escaping the poor mining town for pastures new in Fiji Eleanor with her new husband the missionary Francis and her maids Mary and Prue thought their troubles were over. Things didn’t turn out how Eleanor had planned. First there was trouble on the ship, and then Prue eloped with a seaman when they docked in Sydney aged only 14. This was only the beginning of all their problems. A great story of love and hardships well worth a read.

Review: In this story our main character Eleanor espied to be like Florence Nightingale and help to good in her community. However, once she moves away she faces even more heart ache and worry for her own family. This is a good read, perhaps not one of my favourites but for any one who likes this type of book it is worth a read.

For anyone that is into Catherine Cookson this book fits into that category it was such a good book to read. It follows the life of a young woman and her new husband as they travel to Fiji to try and bring the church into there lives. They take with 2 sisters from the village to be their maids but things take a turn before they even get there.

Once you pick up this book you won't want to stop. I will be reading another of this Authors books soon and am looking forward to reading it.

An interesting and different story about early days in the colonies and one woman's attempts to make a difference.

I enjoyed this book, but found it rather far fetched and not believable at times which is why I would not rate it as 5 stars. The characters were interesting and on the whole the story was engaging.

This is my first book by the author and I look forward to reading more. It reminds me of Catherine Cookson, but it is better written with a well developed plot.
The book focuses on Eleanor who lives in a pit village in the North East and she is strongly influenced by Florence Nightingale and longs to follow in her footsteps. Instead she marries the slightly pompous Methodist minister Francis and becomes a missionaries wife in Fiji. Her life there is threatened by the locals, disease and the American Morgan West.
I came to love Eleanor and her friend Mary and enjoyed their adventures at home and abroad, they were both characters I warmed to as I read the book.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher Ebury for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review
