I've started this book, but it wasn't for me unfortunately. It wasn't bad, I just couldn't get into the story.

I really enjoyed reading this, the characters were great and I enjoyed the world-building in the book. It will be interesting to see where the rest of the series goes.

This book isn’t one I would usually read...but I loved it. Stevie is a single mother caring for her young son with autism. Throw in a web of magic Stevie had no clue about and you have the coven. It’s a must read.

Stevie is a single mother that is trying to raise her son Charlie and running a store with her best friend. Her life is average and its just the way she likes it. Until Vanessa a dark witch attack Charlie, Stevie’s long dormant powers awaken. She must master her powers before it is too late to stop Vanessa.

I liked this book, its all the things I like. The story was good and wasn't the usual trope that you get with witch novels, it was refreshing,

I devoured this book in one sitting! Fans of Nora Roberts’ light paranormal stories (Cousins O’Dwyer Trilogy, Three Sisters Island Trilogy) will love THE COVEN, the first book in Chrissy Lessey’s Crystal Coast Series, published by Tenacious Books.

This book wasn't exactly what I was thinking it would be. Maybe it was the cover or maybe it was the description. Anyways, I would classify it as a paranormal mystery. It has a tiny bit of romance but it definitely is not the main focus of the book. The main focus of the book is a line of witches that are descendants of three witches that originally landed in what is now Beaufort, North Carolina. It is told from multiple POVs but mostly from Stevie's. There are mentions of pirates, ship wrecks, treasure and lots of magic. Stevie's young son is also autistic and the story focuses on that some too. It was interesting and I look forward to reading the next book in the series to see what Stevie and her coven is up to.

I really enjoyed this novel, especially which the author included the struggle that a family with an autistic child endures. Every time Charlie had a breakthrough I found myself smiling and I really want to see what happens in the next two books when/if they go on sale.

I really liked the opening and wish that we were told more of the original witches’ stories, perhaps the author will do another book or series, Stevie was an amazing woman even before she discovered her powers. I loved most of the characters in the book, even Vanessa. She was warped by an unloving, selfish mother whom she tried to please until the end, I doubt that Susan will even care what happened to her daughter unless she can twist it to suit her needs,

4.75/5 STARS: **I want to thank the author and/or publisher for providing me with a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review; all opinions are mine.**

When I began reading this book, the characters were interesting, I quickly became involved. Then, the female character was strong and feisty just the way I like them.

Not a bad read. I have to say that at the beginning the jumps between characters are a bit harsh until they come together and you figure out just how they each fit into the story. Then things get interesting fast. The story burns bright and is over way too soon. You're thinking this is getting good, then it's over. Guess that there will be more in this series, and they can go a lot of ways. I'd like to see what the next step in this world could be...

We spend most of the story with Stevie after the character jumps are done, and I related to her a lot. It was easy to find some characteristic in her, that I myself have too. Her son is someone we learn a lot about, I'm certain that he will be a big part of whatever happens in the next instalment (if we get one).

The small island town this story takes place on is well depicted. I'd love to visit and see the different scenes that we hear about in the book. Especially the ocean view...

Can get behind reading more, since I'm currently on the fence between 'not enough' and 'need to read more'...

It start in a very good way than it becomes a bit slow and confused. Unfortunately it didn't involved me and I left at 20%.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher

This was an enjoyable, easy read which delivered a sprinkle of magic on a dreary day. I love the illustration on the cover which would attract me instantly if I saw it on a shelf.

The town of Beaufort is full of magical secrets, known only to a select few.  When a stranger arrives Stevie's life is turned upside down. She is a likable protagonist and I instantly felt a connection as she struggled to bring up son with autism. The book is littered with quirky characters with imaginative gifts that I loved.  It is part of a trilogy but it could easily become a bigger series by delving into the other older members of the coven. They must all have their own tales to tell. I am looking forward to reading the second installment of The Crystal Coast Series.

Would I recommend?
Yes. it is perfect for light, magical escapism.

Witches and magic, good and evil and some romance thrown into the mix. What is not to like? One thing that I am really glad about is that when Stevie starts her training the first thing she does is not learn how to make fire :) like in many other books although I don't have anything against it. Stevies training was a bit a fresh air. I loved the writing style as well as all of the characters and how they interacted with each other.
I look forward to reading more by Chrissy Lessey.

Took a bit of getting into since I thought the story would be about the three from the prologue. Typical divorcee relationship drama until up to 50% through. I liked Vanessa in her first part and then what she tried was a no no. Stevie was a bit boring and normal for a witch, not to mention she took everything so well. Dylan was the best character but he needs to run far away. This one could be read as a stand alone.

I found the first chapter great and was excited to know more, however by the third i was finding that I had to go back and re-read paragraphs. I was really interested based on the blurb but sadly the book didn't take off.

If life wasn’t already tough enough for Stevie Lewis, a single mum raising her son who is diagnosed as having autism , while working and avoiding her mothers Beaufort Historic Society meeting. she is catapulted into a world of magic when her beloved son Charlie is targeted and her undiscovered magical powers save him, powers that she didn’t know she had.

The Beaufort Historic Society is not what Stevie thought it was, this quirky group are actually witches and Stevie needs to get caught up and in control of her extensive powers because a powerful dark witch is out to cause trouble, and romance is in the air and carries it’s own mystery.

This is an action packed yet sweet. Dangerous yet loving, magical adventure. There are some great and interesting characters which add to the story. The pace didn’t feel steady to me, or feel the intensity that one would expect from the situations. I didn’t love it but I did like it and I would recommend reading it.
