Unfortunately this book was not for me, it was a bit slower than I would like and it just didn't hold my attention. I am sure other people will love it!

Really enjoyable, fun, bit thoughtful, light read, with some great characterisations - ideal for a beach holiday read

Ivy and Abe by Elizabeth Engield is a story of love and loss and makes you think about life and romance.

What a beautiful book - full of alternate realities where two soulmates meat in a variety ways and at a number of different times in their lives. I sobbed, obviously. We've all got 'the one who got away' so it was entirely relatable. Charming and delightful.

I recently bought a new kindle after my old one broke. For some reason I was unable to download this title from the cloud onto my kindle, therefore I will be unable to review this title. I am sorry for any inconvenience caused.

What a beautifully written exquisite tale full of emotive language. Ivy and Abe is a story that will stay with you long after you have read it.

I was enthralled by this book from the very beginning. I loved the way the relationship between the two main characters was examined and reexamined time and time again. Fate plays such an important part in their lives and every chance encounter brings its own unique set of circumstances into play. Every time a new chapter in their lives started I hoped for the happiest of outcomes. Did Ivy and Abe ever get their happy ever after? It really is worth reading the book to find out.

A book that caught my eye with the blurb and I really enjoyed. It captured me early on and I was keen to keep reading to see how the story would continue to take shape.

I definitely would have enjoyed this if it was more 'fantastical'. Had it followed the lines of Laura Barnett's The Versions of Us, where the entire book followed one specific storyline in different scenarios, this would have been the perfect book. However, the constant changes in storylines weren't very interesting to me and I couldn't relate to the characters, which made this harder to get through. A more cohesive plot perhaps would have been better, where each story linked. Sadly, this one wasn't for me.

Imagine getting that second chance that people so often wish they'd been given? The chance to put things right. That big break. An opportunity to do things differently, choose the other path, seize that day. What would you change?

Ivy and Abe get to do just that. Childhood sweethearts who ended up spending decades apart, a chance encounter has them finding one another in later life and they soon wish to make up for lost time.

But, when their happy ending is cut short, all is not lost for Ivy and Abe. What if they could go back and live their story again? We dive in and out of their lives, picking up at different periods along the way; sometimes one or other is married, sometimes not. Were Ivy and Abe always destined to be together in the end?

I loved the concept of this book. It reminded me of one of my favourite films as a teen - Sliding Doors. That one moment being the deciding factor and allowing you to relive the "what may have been" option. We are presented with many alternative stories, possibilities and what could have happened with them.

Like I say, I enjoyed the concept. It's execution, however, fell a little flat for me. I don't know whether this is because our first encounter with Abe and Ivy is just so brief that I didn't get much of a sense of their characters, so didn't feel that connected to them, or whether I just wasn't that interested in their story, but I found myself getting a little lost between all of the different story reruns.

I am in charge of our Senior School library and am looking for a diverse array of new books to furnish their shelves with and inspire our young people to read a wider and more diverse range of books as they move through the senior school. It is hard sometimes to find books that will grab the attention of young people as their time is short and we are competing against technology and online entertainments.
This was a thought-provoking and well-written read that will appeal to young readers across the board. It had a really strong voice and a compelling narrative that I think would capture their attention and draw them in. It kept me engrossed and I think that it's so important that the books that we purchase for both our young people and our staff are appealing to as broad a range of readers as possible - as well as providing them with something a little 'different' that they might not have come across in school libraries before.
This was a really enjoyable read and I will definitely be purchasing a copy for school so that our young people can enjoy it for themselves. A satisfying and well-crafted read that I keep thinking about long after closing its final page - and that definitely makes it a must-buy for me!

I completely and utterly fell in love with this book. I knew from the blurb that it was my kind of book as I have a fascination with the possibility of fate and whether there is a person that we’re destined to meet. Ivy and Abe follows the two protagonists throughout there lives but it’s presented in disconnected chapters where their meeting and the way things pan out for them has a different outcome. The wonderful thing though is that throughout the novel there is a thread that keeps coming up and you see in each story how it might have been different if only something had or hadn’t happened. It’s a beautiful novel and even though I read it right at the beginning of January, it’s still staying with me and I often find myself thinking about Ivy and Abe and wondering how they are, as if they were real people. I adored this novel and I highly recommend it!

Sometimes it was hard to keep track of all the different versions of the story. Having said that I really enjoyed it.

I started off loving this book but by the end i sort of felt this has been done before and better. Having said that, it kept me interested. I,m not sure what was being said other than there is a right time for everything including relationships. The first story was so joyous that the rest of them couldn’t help but be disappointments. Interesting but ultimately repetitive.

Really great read. It takes you on a really great journey of different emotions. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

With each chapter we were takin on a journey of what could have happened if Ivy and Abe had met at different times in their lives, with various family members recurring throughout.
This book comprises of short love stories and makes for easy reading.

A cross between 'One Day' and 'Sliding Doors', 'Ivy and Abe' is the story of two people and the love and connection they share that transcends the limitations of time and space. Charming and touching without veering into mawkish territory, each vignette is a perfect snapshot of a unique bond between the two protagonists.

I enjoyed Ivy and Abe, it is well written and made me think of how our paths through life can change at every turn. I liked than not every sub-story was positive, and that it went back in time rather than chronologically.

4 stars and not 5 as I found it hard at times to follow the timeline, as in what age are the characters in each sub-story, and it took me about two third of the book to get to grips with recurring family members...

But all in all, nice romantic-yet-not-too-soppy read for the fans of One Day.

This reminded me very much of Versions of Us, and though it didn’t grab me in the way I’d hoped it was certainly a charming story.
Part of me expected there would be an element of cohesion to the novel, but it really is made up of a series of stories featuring Ivy and Abe. We see them at different times and in different circumstances; sometimes they are friends, sometimes they are lovers and sometimes they are nothing more than passing acquaintances. Whatever the situation, they have some form of bond. There are recurring motifs throughout the stories, but it was a little confusing to establish exactly how they all fitted together.
This isn’t particularly fast-moving, and though it captured my interest as I read I don’t feel either of the characters or the scenarios will remain in my mind. Though not really what I expected I did enjoy it, and can see it striking a chord with many readers. Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to read this prior to publication.
