This would make an excellent gift for young men (and women) to set them on the right path!

Worth reading several times to glean all the goodness.

This is a well written story presenting fundamental lessons for life.

Ryan is a young businessman ready to step in to help his father’s finance business. Although Ryan is eager and has graduated with an MBA, his father senses that something is missing. His father recognizes that he has spent so much time building his business that he hasn’t spent enough time with his son. He sends Ryan to his uncle’s Montana ranch where he can get hands on lessons in life.

Ryan is surprised and not quite ready to get up with the break of dawn. But as Ryan helps his uncle build a barn and help in the community he learns how to become a compassionate nephew, friend, community member and even potential husband. The basis of the lessons about health, work, finances, education, selfessness, humility, and love are built on Biblical foundations. And Ryan is challenged to accept the most precious gift of all.

I enjoyed the wonderful wisdom for living “a good life” with purpose which is shared in this novella. It is an easy read and shows that life isn’t all roses and smooth paths. There are questions and decisions to be made. It is important to have the right foundation and look to the right resources for advise to help make the right decisions. I recommend this to anyone who seeks to learn how to live a full life that is rich in more than money.

The Rancher's gift as the blurb suggests is a book on life's principles, a self-help book on living a purposeful life. Of course, such books are often dry memoirs interspersed with quotes and humorous tales to hammer home a point. However, Worden & Dunn decided to roll differently taking a leaf from the Messiahs book. Why not tell it as a 21st century parable. Fortunately, the authors are rather good storytellers or the book would fall flat on its face. Set in Montana, big sky country there is a certain romantic charm throughout that is not limited to merely the locale. However, do not let that fool one. The writers are deadly serious in attempting to deliver their message while keeping it simple but far from simplistic. Much has been said in Christian and secular circles on living a purposeful life. There is however a distinct difference in the two messages. This is indeed what the authors attempt to hammer home. To reveal it would be a spoiler. The unversed may consider the cross a tragedy, in reality it was a love story written in blood forever freeing those who believe and accept to live without fear or condemnation. The writers assume that one is aware of the cross and its tale and their focus is living a purposeful life having received this gift. However, those unaware of what the cross entails this book could be slightly confusing. Much like the Lord's Word a.k.a Bible, Worden and Dunn use similes and allegories to deliver their message. Thus, one will not get the entirety of the message intended though it would still serve as a self-help book albeit one does not reap the full benefit. An irresistible humdinger of a western.

The Rancher’s Gift – a short sweet inspirational, thought provoking, heartwarming, feel good story. I enjoyed it, could have been a little bit longer. Well worth reading.
