I was hopeful at the start of this story but the writing was very simplistic and I found that it didn’t make a huge amount of sense. Really wanted to get into it, sorry.

I had a hard time getting into this book
The writing was definitely hard to keep up with and honestly I was just bored.

This was okay. Not the most exciting read. I did like the characters, though. Will try the author in the future.

I have no idea why I requested this really. The synopsis wasn't too interesting to me. Sorry I couldn't even give this one a try. Thank you for the early opportunity though!

I commend the author for writing this story. Unfortunately, it felt like my 10 year old telling a story when he’s trying to keep your attention but failing.
I’m not telling you not to read this story because you may love it. I didn’t and that’s okay.

Unfortunately this is a DNF for me. I just can’t get through this book and I don’t think this author is for me.

I borrowed this from my local library as I missed the download date - this was not nothing like I thought it would be. Juvenile, basic writing that is more for young adults than adults which could have been made a lot better with some clear editing. Not for me.

I really enjoyed reading this book! I read this book in one sitting because I could not put the book down, I highly recommend reading this book!

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this book.
What the heck did I just read? This was horrible and I wish I could take the time I read this and of read something else. I don't even know how to describe this book truthfully, other than a train-wreck. The writing was mediocre and juvenile. I most likely won't be reading something by this author again based on this book alone. If zero stars were allowed on other sites, I totally would rate it as zero stars.

I had to stop reading this after the first few chapters becuase I felt like reading a teenege boy’s diary and it bothered me greatly. I like YA books but this is so not for me.

This was one of the first books read from NetGalley. I didn't feel comfortable about reviewing it because I didn't want to be mean. I feel that the author is young and has potential but the editor should have maybe worked with him more and talked to him more before publishing this. I think if people around him had given him honest critiques and serious pointers he could have started over and came up with a whole different book that would have been better. I hope he continues writing and gets the solid support to direct his creativity to actually open up and gain more substance and expand. This read like a teenage boys runaway fantasy and we were along for the ride. It was uneven and the ending was both anticlimactic. The main character is not appealing enough and too self absorbed to really care for and the stipulations of him keeping his newfound gifts were on the rather extreme side. I made myself finish it because I felt there would be some redemption further on, which i didn't really find.

I hate to do this but this was awful. I DNF about 65% through. The writing was wrong and very babyish. I just couldn't make myself push through any more. It may appeal to some just not me.

This is a really difficult one for me to review.
It was curious mix of Fantasy, Horror with a touch of hopeful romance thrown in.
I have to say this didn't sit well with me although I did manage to finish it.
This was nearly a one star.

This book wasn't for me, but I can actually see why someone else could really like it. It was an iteresting take on a coming of age tale, though it felt sort of like a Hallmark movie though.

Great storyline with good strong characters. Very well written. I would recommend this book to anyone.

I usually don't read these types of books but I am glad I received a copy of this one. I wasn't quite sure what the point was a few chapters in but it turns around quickly and keeps the reader interested. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.

Outstanding classis horror writing. Right away the author sets up the feeling that something creepy will happen and let me tell you, the author doesn't disappoint. Ash very well done high school setting and characters.

I'm not posting my review of this book anywhere but here. I think something was really messed up with this copy. I can't read this book, and I've really tried! It's so jumbled that I can't finish it.

It took awhile to get into this book. A lot of twists and turns. There was many different emotions throughout the book, and it crossed several genres. It ended up being a good book once I got into it.

I am incredibly stubborn, and will read books and watch movies all the way to the end, even bad ones, simply to see if they somehow magically get better towards the end. That being said, I had a VERY hard time finishing this one. It was just so ridiculous, there had to be some plot twist at the end..."surprise, it was all a dream!" or something similar. Alas, that did not happen, so here we are. Please forgive me if this review is rather disjointed, I am unable to come up with the words to make sense of this. It was so unrealistic and absolutely ridiculous, I was focusing on that more than the plot.
What I did glean from the plot was so confusing...I would probably have to read it again just to figure it out. There was just no logic to any of it. There was little to no thought behind actions of the characters. For instance, the main character missed three or four days of class, and decided the only course of action at that point was to drop out of college. Hello, what??! A classmate he met on the first day of class did not show up on the second day, so he says she has to have been taken by someone. Again...what?! He's also remarkably dumb. He drank a LOT of spiked punch at a party, and didn't realize it was spiked (not sure how that happens), and it didn't even occur to him that the weird feeling he had was, in fact, drunkenness. He also went to a strip club and tried to make change for a $10 bill with the singles on the stage. This act almost got him shot in the head by the owner of the club. (See? Unrealistic.)
One way I described this to a friend is that it's as if someone simply transcribed a TV show, with mostly dialog and some of the action, but with little to no insight into the characters' thoughts and motivations. It was just very confusing.
Now let's talk about the actual writing. The main character's sister called him "bro" or "brother" just about every other sentence she said to him. Also, I've never said this before: the lack of pronouns is annoying. The characters are almost always referred to by their given names, even when it is obvious who is talking or being talked about, so using pronouns would not have caused confusion. There is also an inordinate amount of screaming. Just for funsies, I did a search, and the word "scream" or some variation of it was used 78 times in the book. The interwebs tells me the book is 198 pages, so that's someone screaming approximately every 2.5 pages (for a lot of those, "yelled" or "called out to" would have been much more appropriate). Personally, I find that just as jarring as reading text that is written in all caps.
Would I recommend it? Sure, if you want to bang your head against the wall for a couple hours. But whatever you do, don't make up a drinking game for this one, alcohol poisoning is no joke.
Many thanks to Netgalley for providing me with a review copy of this for review.
