Created especially for children with special needs, this cookbook is a marvel. It contains a variety of recipes with few ingredients and very easy to follow instructions. The collection goes from breakfast ideas & homemade milk to holiday main dishes.

Though I'm not one that believes that a special diet can help with those that have Autism or ADHD, I feel the recipes are good, on their own. This are fun recipes that your little one can help you with and make mealtime fun yet healthy.

I did not want to leave a rating, but Netgalley wouldn't let me leave a review without it. My low rating is because I couldn't get past the intro of this book to even get to the recipes as I got a very negative vibe about Autism from this book. I am sure it was totally unintentional, but talking about it as needing to cure with food - as if it was a disease rather than a genetic difference - started to really get to me.

I am neuro-diverse, my three children are neuro-diverse. My son is confirmed HFASD and I am suspected HFASD. Yes diet helps us focus better, act better and cope better.... but we are not disease carriers requiring food as a cure. Which came across to me in this book. Sorry.

Many people have found that special diets are especially effective at helping to improve symptoms of various childhood conditions, including autism and ADHD. This book gives a short overview of the various diets and then gives a number of good recipes. If parents need a book with lots of recipes, then this would be a good one for them. They would need to read other books that more thoroughly cover the diets however.

This book has many delicious-sounding recipes, as well as simple explanations of many types of special diets. Although the diets are intended to help children, I think that they could help adults, as well. I am looking forward to making some of these meals for friends and family who are on gluten-free and milk-free diets, since I was never sure what I could serve them when they visit.
