I found this book quite hard to read and its taking me some time, but what I have read I have found it to be very thought provoking. I am sure that the more I read of this book the more I will enjoy it
Thank you netgalley

This is... how do you translate something and keep the original intention of the text, when much relies on context?
The introductory passages help frame what you are reading and help guide you through the translations.
This is not an easy read, not a book you pick up and finish in a single sitting. It is one that you will read, mull over, and come back to, often re reading sections.
If you are into yoga, into the history, and wanting to build a deeper practice, this is a strong read for you.
If you are dabbling in western yoga and are happy with just the fitness side of it, this may not be the best option.

This book contained a lot of good information, however, I found it hard to read and difficult to read for long periods of time.

Thank you Watkins Publishing amd Netgalley for an ARC of this book.

Being completely new to the theory of yoga this was a book that required me reading it slowly and it small bites to feel like I had grasp on the important lessons. I found similarities to some spiritual texts I have read which helped my understanding.

I am very grateful for the opportunity to read and review this book and highly recommend it to others.

Let me begin by saying thank you for giving me a chance to read this book! I've been dying to read this copy and it did not disappoint. I am a beginner in these forms of teachings, so a lot of the information that was within the text was rather complicated to comprehend at times. Nevertheless, I would purchase and recommend this to anyone wanting to further their thinking on spirituality and the philosophy of yoga in and of itself.

Great translation of the sutras. This book is a nice introduction for someone wanting to explore the yoga sutras, questioning spirituality, and digging deeper into themselves. Thank you for the copy.

A lovely, well-written introductory translation of the Yoga Sutras. I say "introductory" because Vivekananda here gives short, digestible passages on the aphorisms, which are well-suited for those who've not had much exposure to the Yoga Sutras before (for a more in-depth translation, I like Satchidananda's).. In some instances, Vivekananda gives great examples that really illustrate the point an aphorism is trying to make, and in fact, I wish he had included more of these. I also would've liked to see the original Sanskrit aphorisms printed here next to the translations. However, overall, this was a very good and useful version!
