Heartbreaker begins with teenager Pony Darlene ruminating on the disappearance and life of her mother, Billie Jean. We see life through Pony's eyes: her mysterious mother, her stoic father, the super-80s characters of the town

What starts off as a missing person thriller morphs into something entirely different and plot takes a back seat to mood and atmosphere. One of those books where you may not know exactly where it is going but just have to trust the author's intentions. It's not entirely successful and can be frustrating at times, but it is never dull.

I can't quite put my finger on why this novel doesn't seem to work for but because of this I found it hard work. While the writing was really good in place, I didn't find the plot that compelling and found the structure brought nothing to it. I disliked the mother character mainly because I've read versions of her in so many books just recently. The ending annoyed me. Weird and kind of vague, this was not the book for me.

I absolutely loved this book!! Heartbreaker follows the story of Billie Jean Fontaine, who after being under self-imposed house arrest for months, walks out of the house and drives off in the family truck. The story is told from three perspectives; Pony Darlene (Billie Jean's daughter), Gena Rowlands (Billie Jean's DOG! yes, her dog!) and Supernatural., a kid from the Territory.

Whilst the search is underway for the missing Billie Jean, the book begins to explore how the three lives are intertwined, and all the strange happenings in 'the Territory' - the cult-like town that was started by John the Leader. This book is weird but so great. I loved all the twists and turns and I barely guessed any of them. It kept me hooked until the very end!

Dey has created a rich, strange world, populated with odd characters. I loved Pony in particular. The story kept me guessing and I cared about all these messed up characters and their exceedingly complicated lives. I wasn’t so keen on the 3 POVs, mainly because they all had the same voice. Would recommend though.

Yet another book on my wishlist-After seeing so many of my fellow book lovers reading it and leaving fantastic reviews.
An odd yet it does capture you. The story is told through the eyes of 3 people.
It is kind of written in 3 sections almost.
Some may get it, others may not
Many thanks to both NetGalley and Harper Collins UK publication for giving me the opportunity to read Heartbreaker. For my honest unbiased review

A strikingly original novel set in a rather strange world where a lot of things are left unexplained. The story is told from three perspectives.
