Awakening of the Summer is a romantic literary fiction novel that is an amazing read. Not your normal romance novel, this is a story of a twisted, yet romantic love triangle. I really didn’t enjoy it and that made me sad because I was really looking forward to reading this. This book was billed as Literary Fiction, but I don’t think it really fits that bill

I thought this book was ok. The sisters are vacationing in the mountains and meet a man that they both like. He happens to be a painter and they get involved with him. The ending was very interesting.

Unfortunately I couldn’t get into this book. The dialog was so stilted and unnatural. When the author used the word nymph for the 5th time just in the opening pages, it lost any appeal. The thoughts running through James’ head as he leered at the sisters upon meeting them were sophomoric and made my skin crawl. The story line about the love triangle wasn’t offputting, it was the execution. Really wanted to like this one but couldn’t. Won’t post any reviews elsewhere. Thanks for the peek at this though.

I enjoyed this book. It is the story of a summer vacation involving a gentleman and 2 sisters. They are escaping work pressures on a two week vacation. The gentleman, James, is also a painter. They meet while he is by a lake painting. They are all attracted to each other and quickly become involved. Much quicker than happens in real life. Both women have boyfriends back in New York but they vie for attention from James. Both women have had issues and this is their yearly time away. The boyfriends come to visit and are claiming their women, but the women want to be with James. There is a car accident and a near drowning and James finds out more of their backgrounds. Suspense when the one boyfriend kidnappes his girlfriend. He ends up dead, his girlfriend got James and the sister went back to her boyfriend. Cute summer reading.

I am truly sorry the publisher granted my wish - there is nothing in this book that would make me recommend it to anyone, let alone purchase it. The plot was rather contrived, the thinking simplistic and all in all a waste of time.

DNF This may be a good story for some people but not for me. Unfortunately I had a hard time investing in this book. The plot seemed farfetched and moved way too quickly without building anticipation or character decelopment. The choices made by the characters lacked authenticity so it was a challenge to buy into the plot. I ended up putting it down at about 60% and couldn't pick it up again. Not a winner for me.

It's not you; it's me. This book was billed as Literary Fiction, but frankly it just wasn't literary enough for me to see it as that. It's more a light--sometimes steamy--summer romance that's not entirely believable. James, a bachelor, is on vacation at a lake resort when he meets two beautiful sisters--and of course he's attracted to both of them. Within two weeks he's in love with--and made love with--each of them! Enter their two boyfriends and a dark secret about each girl's past and things get dicey fast. But there weren't many layers to the novel and many cliches about love and adoration...again just not my cup of tea. Clearly the author is talented and has won many awards for his fiction, so just because this one didn't speak to me doesn't mean it won't be a popular romance for a summer read!

Although I didn’t hate this book, I didn’t love it either. Two sisters, Sophia and Kelly are vacationing to take a break from
their stressful lives and dead end relationships. They end up meeting James, a painter, and both fall In love with him. The storyline was fast-paced and quick to read but it flip flopped so many times that it became unbelievable. The relationships developed unbelievably quick and the relationship between the sister, Sophia and Kelly was a bit twisted.
