What an amazing thriller this had so many twists and turns I felt like I was on a rollercoaster and I love a good plot twist fantastic keeps you guessing roo the very end

Paper Ghosts is not watching, but reading a game of chess as two skilled players try to outstrategise each other to achieve their goal.

This was a brilliant read. As soon as I started reading this book I just knew I was going to love it. Highly recommended

This one starts unusually, and it took perseverance to keep going. There's much to this story and the characters and some beautiful writing, and it does get going after the slow start. But it's still a bit odd, and challenging.

Gripping storyline which developed well throughout. Kept me guessing. Thanks for the opportunity to read.

I loved this clever, captivating story. Grace's character is superbly drawn and I love the inclusion of photos and her survival notebook. I was glued to the end

Wow what an interesting concept!
A women kidnaps a man who she is convinced has killed her sister among other girls. However the man has dementia.... so exactly what does he remember?
I loved this book - keeps you guessing right to the end as to who is telling what truth. Would highly recommend.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in return for an honest review.

Very enjoyable book and really great story. I could not make up my mind about Carl all the way through. Spoiler Alert! I was convinced very early on that Carl did not murder Rachel but couldn’t decide if he was a murderer or not. The Mary’s picture was a genius gripper all the way through and got my mind going back and forth between murdered or family. If the intention of the author was to make the readers like Carl it worked on me. I found him to be quite charming. The road trip was full of action and incidents and kept me reading into the early morning hours. Loved this and would read from this author again

Great chiller, easy to read in one sitting. The theme is original and exciting, better brace yourself for the ending.

Loved this book. Grace’s sister disappeared when she was a teenager - after years of investing Grave is convinced she knows who killed her and sets off on an unusual road trip with that man . A tense psychology thriller that reveals sides to all the characters you just weren’t expecting. Highly recommended

I read this book in a matter of days, as I really wanted to know the ending. The plot twists and answers to questions came suddenly and hit the right punches, with really good pacing. I've been meaning to read Black Eyed Susans for a while now so hopefully I can pick it up soon

Paper ghosts is an original tale that will leave you turning the pages into the night. A fantastic narrative, with excellent twists and turns.

I read this around release date and didnt write a full review, i really enjoyed this, it was unexpected as i wasnt 100% sure wether i would, i would read more by the author

This is a beautiful, thrilling, suspense story of a girl grown up after losing her sister when she was twelve years old. There are many threads to this story but strangely the crime is the not really one of them. Grace and Carl are intricate and intriguing characters and the journey she takes him on is full of mixed emotions - hope, hate, and murder. As a reader I found it confusing to read at first as the back and forth is slightly overwhelming. However I was soon caught up in the atmospheric nature of the mystery.
I would like to thank Netgalley and the publishers for my free ARC.

I loved this book. And I mean LOVED. I felt like I held my breath for the last few chapters. I loved the setting, the characters, and the story was gripping and clever. I'm off to buy everything else this author has ever written.

Having read blaxk eyes Susan's and struggled with it. I really hoped i would be able. To get on with this one.. However i just couldnt.

My Sister disappeared.
I know who took her.
Now I've taken him.

Carl Louis Feldman is an old man who once took photographs. That was before he was tried for murder and acquitted. Before dementia and his admission to a Texas care facility. Now his daughter has come to see him, to take him on a trip. Only she's not his daughter, and, if she has her way, he's not coming back . . .
Because Carl's past has finally caught up with him. The woman driving the car is convinced he's guilty, and that he's killed other young women. Including her sister Rachel. Now they're driving across Texas, following his photographs, his clues, his crimes. To see if he remembers any of it. To discover what happened to Rachel.
Has Carl truly forgotten what he did or is he just pretending? Perhaps he's guilty of nothing and she's the liar. Either way, in driving him into the Texan badlands she's taking a terrible risk. For if Carl really is a serial killer, she's alone in the most dangerous place of all . . .
This was a gripping, unusual read - a different slant on the usual whodunnit genre. The characters were well-written and interesting and you never really know what is going to happen or how it will turn out. I read it in 2 days!

This story is cleverly crafted with some unexpected dark humour and great quotes. I wouldn't call it a fast paced page turner as it builds slowly but I think this helps to make it more sinister. I found The two main characters week drawn and intriguing and I liked the way the novel was structured. It's a clever cat and mouse type plot and it certainly kept me engrossed. It also wins the award for one of the most unique books I've read in a while which is a breath of fresh air in a saturated psychological thriller and crime market. This us the first book I have read by this author but I would definitely read more from her.
An interesting, intriguing well written book told through a refreshing lens with a clever plot and beautifully crafted narrative. I would definitely recommend.
Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for my advance copy.

A superb page turner that keeps you guessing tight to the end. Definitely a must read. Superbly described characters and plot.

I loved reading Black Eyed Susans so it was a natural choice to want to read this book. I thought Paper Ghosts was a strange title but it is perfect for the story. The posters are the only thing left as reminders that the missing person hasn't been found. Each fading in time until there isn't anything left but a ghostly faded shape.
Carl Feldman's mind isn't as sharp as it use to be and I understood that he had dementia but when a young woman turns up and tells his carers that she is his daughter he knows that she isn't. She strikes up a deal with him to get him away on take part in a road trip with her visiting places that are in the photos he most treasured. His mind is bright enough to make a deal with her and my heckles come up. Just how much does this man know. This man who stood trial for the murder of young women and walked away free.
This is quite a macabre journey, as she is the sister of one of the girls in the pictures that has never been found. She tries to jog Carl's memory with walk throughs of how the girls were believed to have been taken. At first I was like, 'What are you doing with this killer?', would he try to kill her?, had he really killed all these girls? And just how much did he really remember? But Grace had a callous streak too. Just how far would she push him? Some of the chapters began with eerie photos from Carl's collection. The pictures seemed to be the key.
This is a tight tension story where I felt that I was walking on egg shells all the time. It was pure anticipation of something is going to give on this page, or the next, or the next. She was holding so much back from him but I couldn't make my mind up if Carl really didn't know much or if he had dementia and really didn't know anything anymore. A clever story. Not a heart in your mouth read but a couple of looks over my shoulder as I felt so uneasy.
I wish to thank NetGalley and Michael Joseph Books for an e-copy of this book which I have reviewed honestly.
