Elle Fielding is an author living in a newly rebuilt house on the top of a cliff overhanging a Cornwall beach. Her first novel was a huge international success but she is struggling to start her second novel. Whilst in France for two weeks, she rents her house out through Airbnb to a family. On her return she starts to feel uneasy and realises her study at the top of the house must have been opened, even though she left it locked. Other things start to happen but her sister, Fiona, tells her everything is in her imagination but she starts to suspect everyone and also revisits a bad time in her past while she was at university. There were lots of red herrings throughout this book and although it got a bit frantic at the end I wasn’t expecting the outcome - a twist within a twist! Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collins for letting me review this book.

Well, what an absolute belter that was. The phrase page turner is tossed about so frequently it's almost lost all meaning. But this was utterly compelling, unputdownable and a compulsive page turner of a novel if ever I've read one. There are a lot of fairly generic, not unenjoyable examples of the psychological thriller out there right now - similar in plot, title, design etc. But this one stands out due to the quality of the writing. Lucy Clarke is really very good indeed. No spoilers here as part of the enjoyment for me was the absolute cluelessness with which I read it and the delicious shock at the totally unexpected revelations and twists. It was thought-provoking rather than merely titillating and it was this depth that raised this novel head and shoulders above its peers. Highly recommended - tense, twisty and a lot of nail-biting fun!

This psychological thriller is perfect for seasoned thriller fans or those new to the genre. It had the perfect amount of twists, and even when I was convinced I had the ending figured out, in the last few chapters it twisted completely once again in a direction I wasn't anticipating. I highly recommend this novel to anyone who has an interest in the genre.

I’ve read a lot of wonderful books recently and You Let Me In is another to add to my list! It honestly gave me goosebumps and kept me up late into the night because I couldn’t put it down!

Absolutely fantastic. This story was gripping and thrilling from the first page to the very last. As usual this author has such a way with words, keeping you guessing throughout, wondering about your own thoughts. A must read!

I really enjoyed this book. It has great main characters and a really good story line. I would highly recommend this book to anyone.

You Let Me In is truly a chilling story that will raise your awareness of every little sound that your house is making. Is there someone in your kitchen or was it just wind? In a picturesque Cornwall village, in a beautiful modern house on a cliff in a room with a view on the cold waters of the sea, Elle struggles with her sophomore novel. Her debut was an international success, she toured many countries, gives live Facebook chats about her craft and shares all intimate details of her life with thousands of followers online.
But the pretty cover doesn't match the ugly insides of her life. She is struggling with insomnia, the stress of financial problems and looming deadline that if not met will truly destroy her finances and on top of that, divorce. To help her with the financial situation, she Airbnbs her house during her writers' retreat in France. When she comes back, the house feels different. There was someone else living in her home, touching her things and possibly someone broke into her writer's room she locked all her previous possessions in. Each day brings more stress and more anxiety caused by the mystery of the family that stayed in her home, her neighbour's son and disturbing online fan. Luckily she has her sister with her husband and son to support her.
I'm impressed with how well the story was crafted, how the author shows us all the bits and pieces to masterfully put it all together at the end in a chilling finale. The epilogue was a cherry in the top of the already great story, that leaves us questioning what did we actually read.

Elle has written her first best seller goes to France as a speaker on a writing holiday. While away from her beautiful Cornish house she rents it out on air bnb, upon her her return Elle feels the house is different and she is being watched.
An eerie psychological thriller which I really enjoyed with a shock ending.

Just brilliant. Totally gripping, excellently resolved. Rare to find such a satisfying suspense read.

Great cover and storyline plus a beautiful Cornish setting. Elle, a writer returns home and discovers her lovely clifftop house no longer feels the same after it had been rented out on Airbnb. Just little things to begin with, then events turn ever more disquieting and sinister. Was it the tenant or someone else? A slow burner and quite confusing at times when it changes from “she” to “I”, sometimes even in the same paragraph - might be nice to have a gap in either pages or at least different paragraphs! Elle isn’t really someone you can sympathise with at all, in fact no one in this book is - maybe that’s what kept me reading!

3AM !! I put this book down last night. This one
sentence sums this book up.
Being a Lucy Clarke virgin I didn’t know what to expect from this author, I was excited to get started and she did not disappoint in this engrossing compulsive read. Her characters are brought to life, I felt I was right there with them.
She kept me guessing right until the end then wham that final chapter twist.

A simply stunning cliff top house, overlooking the bay with direct beach access. Sea views to one side and far reaching views to the other. Perfect location for getting away from it all , piece and quiet guaranteed, lay in bed and hear the ocean. Perfect for those who like to escape or those looking for coastal walks.
Thanks Elle

Elle fielding best selling author returns to her home after 2 weeks in France having let her house on Airbnb, everything looks the same but feels different. She feels like someone’s watching her, the solace now feels lonely and the quiet is deafening. As an insomniac the lines blur at 4 am to what’s real or her imagination , then there’s the things that she didn’t remember doing but must have??
Already behind with mortgage and the deadline for her second book is fast approaching she needs I would say to finish it but start is a better description. As the pressure , the insomnia and the definite feeling she’s not alone build so does the tension in this book.
Remember the next time you let your house on Airbnb , you gave me your key YOU LET ME IN

Wow what a twist. A great thriller with a twist that I certainly did not see coming. A real page-turner that I devoured in a couple days (in between full time job), I really enjoyed reading about the big house and the animosity with the neighbours and the slam dunk of the 'whodunnit'. Would certainly recommend this book.

Elle Fielding is in a difficult place. After scoring a dream book deal and her first novel been a worldwide bestseller she thought she had it made. But an overly ambitious house build has eaten the advance of her second book and then some, her marriage has collapsed and with an ever looming deadline she has exactly no pages written. In an effort to make some money and have time away she rents out her herself while she goes on a writing retreat. On her return, still with no work done something is just not right in her home. Is it just the thought of a stranger living there? And why does it feel like they never left?
This is my second Lucy Clarke novel, Last Seen been the first. I loved that and loved this. I read so many (probably too many) psychological thrillers and so find it hard to switch off and just read the story, not spend the whole time working it out. But this author is good at building a plot around the mystery, good enough that I really engaged with the characters. This is a hugely enjoyable novel.

A brilliant book which kept me gripped. There were a few characters who could have been in the frame and I found I was rushing to see who it was and if I had been correct or not.

Due to the loss of my kindle I, sadly, was not able to read this book.
I sincerely apologize for this inconvenience.

Very rarely do I feel compelled to leave 5 star reviews nowadays but this book earned every single one. This is the first book by this author I've read and will definitely be looking for more. The narrative is perfect switching between in an almost hunter/ hunted way! I haven't been able to put this book down for 2 days.
This book is a perfect tale of a haunted woman unravelling in her own fears and self loathing. I've read so many thrillers over the years that I'm not usually left guessing and double guessing till so far into the book!
Really well written and a perfect astmospheric set up!

Gripping and well written, this had twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. Read in one sitting as I couldn't put it down.
Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A great read with lots of twists and red herrings along the way.
I suspected nearly all the characters at some point during the book! they were all well crafted and believable.
A nice touch was Elle’s ‘author’s notes’ at the beginning of each chapter, don’t be tempted to skip them!

A great thriller full of twists and turns. Stunning scenery and interesting characters from the start. Fully recommend

Brilliant, I loved it. Definitely my best read of the year - ok so it's only 5th Jan - but I suspect this one will stay up there at or near the top for 2019.
I great Psychological thriller, with lots of twists and turns, some great characters, and plenty of atmosphere. I read it very quickly and actually read on much later than I normally do 2 days running as I was so keen to find out more.
I have read one other by Lucy Clarke that I also very much enjoyed and my daughter has been saying that I must read The Sea Sisters so I must look out for that after enjoying this one so much.
Thank you to Netgalley for an early read in return for an honest review - very pleased I requested this one.
