Elle’s first novel was a bestseller but she is suffering a writer's block now. Her next book is approaching its deadline and she has nothing to show for it. Renovating her new house has put her in a lot of debt and to get out of it she decides to rent her house for two weeks on Airbnb while she travels to France. After returning though she feels as if something is amiss. Her things start disappearing, she feels as if someone is watching her house and maybe somebody went through her locked things and discovered her most dark and deadliest secret of all.

You Let Me In by Lucy Clarke is a dark, creepy, psychological thriller with some unlikeable characters that added to the story . A satisfying , twisty read and will definitely recommend to all psychological thriller lovers.

I would like to thank Harper Collins , HarperCollins UK, HarperFiction & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.

A gripping book centred around an author who returns home after an air bnb and lots of strange things start happening! A dark and gripping book which is addictive .....thanks for the read

When author Elle rents out her cliff top house on AirBnB she didn’t expect things to take a dark and scary turn.

She returns from her holiday and she gets the feeling that things are not right in her house with items being moved that should not have been accessed while she was away. The additional the pressure of an upcoming deadline for her next novel starts to get too much and she starts to lose her grip on reality.

This was a gripping and pacey psychological thriller that had many twists to the plot. A great read by Lucy Clarke and I was grateful to have the opportunity to read this book.

Elle rents out her spectacular clifftop house on Airbnb while she travels to France to guest-speak on a writing retreat. Upon returning home she has a strange feeling something's not quite right but can't put her finger on it - the house feels different and she begins to imagine someone's watching her.

I've read lots of psychological thrillers this year - some good and some, well, not so good. You Let Me In was great and it's put author Lucy Clarke on my radar.

The plot was impressive and didn't give much away until the very end. I love it when a book has a killer twist in the closing chapters and that's exactly what this had.

It maintained a suspenseful atmosphere throughout and occasionally chilled me to core. The thought of a stranger invading your home and leaving discreet 'evidence' of their presence is not a pleasant one. It was fabulous edge-of-the-seat stuff!

The story is told from the perspectives of Elle and the person watching her. There are flashbacks to Elle's younger years and her time at university. It's an often-used formula but one that I personally believe works well.

It was very enjoyable and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to anyone who loves a chilling psychological thriller.

My thanks to Lucy Clarke, HarperCollins and NetGalley for providing a review copy of this book.

This book started really great for me, I was looking forward to a big denouement but it did not come. The suspense and who the intruder was could have been managed better. The whole rape thing with the protagonist - why doesn't she tell her sister in the end?

I’ve been a huge fan of Lucy Clarke ever since her first novel came out and I’m so pleased to say that You Let Me In lived up to my very high expectations! Elle is feeling increasingly unsettled in her home ever since she rented it out when she was away. She can’t put her finger on what’s wrong but something just doesn’t feel right. The tension in this book keeps ratcheting up to the point where you can’t be sure if Elle is having a breakdown, or if she is right to be worried and that someone is out to get her. There are a few people who may have it in for her and so you’re kept on your toes all the way through this novel. I was sure I had it all worked out but I was wrong and the reveal when it comes is shocking! I definitely recommend this one!

I'm becoming a little tired of authors making their protagonist writers as a plot device. However, it really works in "You Let Me In." The little writer tips from fictional author Elle Fielding make you look out for signs of those techniques in the book itself, which really pulls it together. Lucy Clarke manages to give plenty of suspects in this tale of an author being stalked while trying to complete a second novel to follow up her international smash hit of a first book, none of which stand out as being obvious until the ending. The conclusion was a little too over the top for my tastes, but overall, this was a thoroughly enjoyable read that had me picking up my Kindle whenever I had a spare moment just to find out what happens next.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC without obligation.

Elle has had a bestselling book and is working on her second. Whilst on holiday she rents her cliff side home out on air B and B, upon her return she has felt uneasy. Something isn’t right in her house and she can't shake the feeling that she is being watched. Lots of characters are thrown into the mix as to who could be toying with Elle, which leaves you playing guessing games throughout.

This is a well written and fast- paced, suspense packed novel that will keep readers guessing right up to the very end.

Addictive and consuming. I love the breadcrumbs of clues left behind. The best psychological thriller I’ve read this year.

I did enjoy this book and it is fast paced but it fell a little flat for me as a thriller. Many of the twists were predictable.
When the main character is an author trying to write a book it often puts me off a little. I know it's 'write about what you know' but I see it a lot in fiction lately and I found it hard to engage with the main character.

Nothing has felt right since Elle rented out her house . . .

I’M IN YOUR HOUSE

There’s a new coldness. A shift in the atmosphere. The prickling feeling that someone is watching her every move from the shadows.

I’M IN YOUR HEAD

Maybe it’s all in Elle’s mind? She’s a writer – her imagination, after all, is her strength. And yet every threat seems personal. As if someone has discovered the secrets that keep her awake at night.

AND NOW I KNOW YOUR SECRET

As fear and paranoia close in, Elle’s own home becomes a prison. Someone is unlocking her past – and she’s given them the key…

It's about an author and it just makes me wonder is this an author's worst nightmare? Trying to beat writer's block but also that sneaking feeling of uncertainty that something is not quite right... Elle Fielding is a successful author who experiences writer's block and so spends some time attending a retreat and in the interim, rents her home out to a stranger. When she returns she is refreshed and ready to get stuck in again with her work - but something isn't right.

This book is an absolute page turning success. It has everything (and more) that a great psychological thriller needs. If this doesn't have you feeling more than a little uneasy at the power of paranoia then I would be surprised. This is a great read for those cold dark Autumn nights...just make sure you aren't alone... or are you...

Bestselling novelist Elle has felt uneasy after returning to her home which she had rented out to holidaying strangers. Disturbed by small, barely discernable changes, she can't shake the feeling that she is being watched, but by who? Her neighbours' hostile and surly son who keeps popping up, an obsessed fan or someone from her past? Lucy Clarke has written a well-paced and suspense packed novel that will keep readers gripped.

Elle, a published author with a severe case of writer's block and a deadline to meet for her second book goes on a writers retreat and rents her house on "airbnb". On her return all sorts of unusual things start to happen and her past comes back to haunt her. This is my first book by this author which i received as an ARC from Netgalley and I am really excited to review it.

There are 2 different narratives throughout the book but more threads than a spider's web. Elle's story is preceded by writing tips for the aspiring author - usually i dislike such things but these really work and in fact are, to some extent, being followed by the author of this book. She certainly draws the reader straight in with her lit fuse I was hooked from the outset. I like how there are a limited number of important characters with an equally small supporting cast but they are all memorable. The storyline is revealed slowly like unwrapping a present and this really is a gift of a book. I had several different characters cast as the culprit and did guess at part of Elle might have been hiding from the past but The reveal was held back well and I enjoyed the ending twist.

I will certainly read more by this author

Lucy seems to knock it out of the park with her books. Each one is more tense, more gripping and more edge of your seat. Which is something that you never expect as you can't ever imagine reading something that was better than her last book. You Let Me In was a page turner that had me hooked. It honestly was one that I read in one sitting and is full of suspense and twists at each turn.

I also loved the little nods to her previous work within the book!

Lucy Clarke’s new mystery thriller is a quiet novel that builds to a measured climax. It is deeply involving and an interesting that yearns and pushes the reader forward. This is an extremely well accomplished novel that should please everyone.

The characterisations are very well handled and wonderfully written. The main character does suffer from some insecurities that propel the story forward. This does border on being slightly irritating as sometimes the reader can be one step ahead. There is a host of other suspects or characters that are all well drawn. This leads to plenty of red herrings to shift through which keeps you on your toes.

The plotting is well handled with its telling told through third person and first person narrative whilst jumping from past to present. This is well done and handled effectively never taking you out of the action but given fuller depth to the proceedings. It is very well done and it doesn’t fall into the many pitfalls that this type of tale can lead a writer.

The ending is well developed and is full of surprises though the actual reasons behind come across a bit petty. I also found the epilogue to not really works within the realms of punishment fits the crime and it came across personally as a bit harsh, though maybe this is more realistic. Saying this, it did not take away from my overall enjoyment but did leave me with a slight sense of disappointment as I had a difficult time with the empathy of the grand reveal.

Overall, this is a very well written, page turning mystery thriller that lands firmly within its genre. This is a very entertaining mystery that leads you by the hand and slowly reveals the mystery within. Highly recommended and one that should reward its readers with a smartly written novel.

I feasted on 'You Let Me In' by Lucy Clarke like I feast on pizza at an all you can eat buffet. I just could not put this book down.

Elle Field is living the dream. Cliff top mansion with sea views for miles, writing her second novel after her first had gargantuan success. She is beautiful, intelligent and confident with a supportive family and all this is portrayed on her social media accounts. What her picture perfect social media account doesn't show, is she is also an insomniac, paranoid, suffers from anxiety and is up to her eyeballs in debt.

Elle's brother in law suggest the idea of putting her home on 'Air BnB' to earn an additional income whilst she is away on a book tour. After much hesitation due to Elle being a control freak she reluctantly agrees. This will end up being a decision that will alter the rest of her life because once you open your home to someone you are handing them an open invitation to hunt and discover your deepest, darkest secrets.

'You Let Me In' is told from two perspectives, that of Elle and also the stranger in her home. There are also flashbacks to Elle's younger years and despite this it flows exceptionally well.

The addictiveness of the plot is incredible. There is no room for skim reading here. Every page has a purpose, every character has a story and every clue drop leads to a much bigger reveal.

I thoroughly enjoyed 'You Let Me In' by Lucy Clarke and would recommend this novel to everyone who enjoys books from the thriller, fiction and mystery genres. Oh and for one of the first times I did not guess 'who did it' and was stunned by every twist.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a free copy in return for an honest review.

4 Stars from me!

Fabulously atmospheric!

I got so engrossed in You Let Me In, the storyline is brilliant and the overwhelming sense of paranoia from main character Elle is tangible and delicious.

This is a book packed with credible and engaging characters and uncomfortably spot on situations, I highly recommend it.

I haven't read anything by Lucy Clarke before so I am very happy to find that she has a host of other books all waiting for me to read!

Excellent descriptive writing. A gripping and chilling story. I recommend this one and will look out for more books by this author

I enjoyed this novel and its creepy atmosphere - there were some excellent set pieces that could have come straight from a horror movie, inducing claustrophobia and panic. However I guessed the twists early on - though this didn't stop me reading and I enjoyed the beautiful writing.

When bestselling author Elle Wild returns to her cliff-top house in Cornwall to write her second novel, something seems off. Are there really messages in her house, or is it all in her head. After all, hasn't it all been in her head before...?

I definitely liked this novel and will be checking out Lucy Clarke's backlist asap :)
